The clamour over Yogeshwar Dutt's presence in the Oversight Committee grew after his coach Ramphal Mann allegedly revealed confidential details about the ongoing probe during a sting operation by a news channel.&nbsp; Bajrang Punia, who was one of the wrestlers protesting against the WFI president Brij Bhushan at the Jantar Mantar last month has once again slammed the 40-year-old Olympic Bronze medallist's participation in the committee.&nbsp; Demanding a resignation from Dutt, Punia told the Indian Express, 'He has no moral right to remain in the committee as he does not believe in confidentiality. This is a sensitive matter related to women wrestlers, and each one of them has shown the courage to come forward and talk. Eight Indian wrestlers, including Vinesh Phogat &amp; Bajrang Punia, have pulled out of the upcoming Zagreb Open, stating they are not ready for the competition.
Apart from Vinesh &amp; Bajrang, Tokyo Olympics silver medallist Ravi Dahiya, world championship medallist Deepak Punia &amp; talented youngster Anshu Malik, have all decided not to participate.

 "I know at least 10-20 women wrestlers who have told me about the sexual exploitation they faced at the hands of (the) WFI President. They told me their stories. I can't take their names now but I can definitely reveal the names if we get to meet the Prime Minister and the Home Minister of the country," Vinesh said addressing the media after staging a four-hour 'dharna' at Jantar Mantar.
"I have received death threats from people who are close to the WFI President. If anything happens to any of us sitting here, only the WFI President will be responsible," she added.
Rio Olympic medallist Sakshi Malik, world championship medallist Sarita Mor, Sangeeta Phogat, Anshu Malik, Sonam Malik, Satyawart Malik, Jitender Kinha, Amit Dhankar and CWG medallist Sumit Malik were among 30 wrestlers who assembled at the famous protest site.

The government is unhappy with the behaviour of the wrestlers after they openly expressed their disappointment over the formation of the oversight committee, Sports Ministry sources said. &nbsp; The source told PTI that the ministry has no plans to reconstitute the 5 member oversight committee which will probe the allegations against WFI chief Brij Bhushan Singh and overlook the day-to-day activity of WFI.
As per reports, the protesting wrestlers consider the London Olympics bronze medallist Yogeshwar Dutt, one of the members of the committee, close to the WFI president.
Wrestler Bajrang Punia, however, later clarified that while the grapplers wanted a member of their choice on the committee, they don't have an issue with Yogeshwar. They expected to be consulted before the members were finalised, he added.

After a marathon 7-hour meeting with Sports Minister Anurag Thakur, protesting wrestlers called off their agitation against WFI President Brijbhushan Singh.

Protesting wrestlers called off their agitation late on Friday night after a marathon 7-hour meeting with Sports Minister Anurag Thakur.
In a joint press conference held by Thakur and the protesting grapplers, Olympic bronze medalist Bajrang Punia announced that they are calling off their protest after assurances from the government.&nbsp; "The protest is over. We did not want to sit on dharna but 'paani sar se ooper chala gaya tha'. The government has assured us safety and security, we have been threatened by the WFI president in the past also," Bajrang said.
Sports Minister Anurag Thakur confirmed to the press that an oversight committee will be formed that'll investigate the allegations against WFI President Brijbhushan Sharan Singh.
He said, "It has been decided that an oversight committee will be formed, names for which will be announced tomorrow. The committee will complete its investigation within four weeks. It will thoroughly probe all the allegations be it financial or sexual harassment that has been levelled against WFI and its chief."&nbsp;
Thakur also said that Singh will step aside and cooperate with the investigation.
"Till the investigation is over, he (Singh) will step aside and cooperate with the investigation and the oversight committee will run the day-to-day affairs of WFI," Thakur added.

So, who really is Brijbhushan Singh?
He has been the President of the Wrestling Federation for 11 years. A 6-time Member of Parliament, Brijbhushan currently is the elected representative from the Kaiserganj Lok Sabha constituency.
Having joined student politics in the 1980s, Singh fought his first election in 1991. While he has been a BJP MP for 5 of his 6 terms, in 2009 he won his Lok Sabha seat from a Samajwadi party ticket.
A seasoned politician, the sexual harassment allegations against him add to a long list of misdeeds he's been accused of.
Singh was an accused in the Babri Masjid demolition case. He has also had a case against him for harbouring associates from the underworld in the 90s.
He has been accused of dacoity, attempt to murder and rioting as well. In 2021, he was caught on camera, slapping a young wrestler at the Under-15 Championship in Ranchi.
While he survived all those incidents in the past, the newfound allegations might just take him down this time around.

In its response to the Sports Ministry regarding allegations against its president Brijbhushan Sharan Singh, WFI deemed the protest a 'hidden, personal agenda' of the wrestlers.

The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) has rejected all the allegations, including that of sexual harassment against its president Brijbhushan Sharan Singh.
In a letter written to the Sports Ministry, the wrestling body said the protest at Jantar Mantar was a 'personal, hidden agenda' of wrestlers.
'The protest is not in the best interest of the Wrestlers nor for promoting good Wrestling in India, but it has some personal as well as hidden agenda to dislodge the current fairest and strict management of WFI,' the wrestling body said in its response to the Sports Ministry.
Responding to the charges of mismanagement, WFI wrote they 'are managed by an elected body as per its constitution, and therefore, there is no scope for arbitrariness and mismanagement in WFI by anyone individually, including the president.'
The WFI sent its reply on Friday evening after being asked by the sports ministry to respond to the allegations within 72 hours.

Brijbhushan Sharan Singh, the Wrestling Federation of India chief who is being accused of sexual harassment by ace women wrestlers of India in an interaction with reporters said that 300 wrestlers have arrived in Nawabganj to attend his press conference. Singh who will hold a press conference in his defence at 4 pm said that he has not spoken to any BJP higher authorities. He further denied to answer about handing in the resignation and said, 'there is no question of it'.&nbsp; Amid the sexual harassment accusations, wrestlers who are protesting at Delhi's Jantar Mnatar have demanded the president's resignation.&nbsp;

Sports Minister Anurag Thakur cut short his Himachal trip to return to Delhi, where he met the protesters at his residence.

Thakur, in fact, cut short his official Himachal trip to return to Delhi to meet with the protesters at his residence.
While no announcements were made after the meeting, discussions between the govt and the protesters will continue on Friday.

Indian Olympic Association President PT Usha took to Twitter, promising the formation of a special committee and assuring the protesting wrestlers of justice.

Usha took to Twitter, stating the welfare and well-being of the athletes is the top priority of the IOA. She requested athletes to come forward and voice their concerns with the Olympic body.
Usha also promised the formation of a special committee, assuring the protesters of justice in the case.

After the meeting with Sports Ministry, 3-time CWG Gold medallist Vinesh Phogat stated that more women wrestlers have now come out alleging sexual harassment by WFI President Brijbhushan Sharan Singh.

While stating they have received assurances from the government, the wrestlers claimed it isn't enough.
3-time CWG Gold medallist Vinesh Phogat stated that more women wrestlers have come out alleging sexual harassment by WFI President Brijbhushan Sharan Singh.&nbsp;
"5-6 women have been sexually harassed by WFI President. We have proof," Vinesh said.
Olympic bronze medallists Bajrang Punia &amp; Sakshi Malik also demanded that WFI President be sent to jail.
"His resignation is not enough, he has to go to jail. We will lodge an FIR if he is not punished," Malik said.
Approximately 200 wrestlers who had gathered at the protest site also want the current federation to be dissolved.&nbsp;
"This administration cannot exist any longer. It should be dissolved and a new federation should be set up," Bajrang told the press.
