The incident unfolded during maintenance work in a recently emptied processing tank, with both men succumbing to carbon dioxide fumes from the fermentation process.
Rescuers said the men were not equipped with safety gear at the time of the incident.
Authorities swiftly reached Ca&rsquo;di Rajo winery in Italy&rsquo;s San Polo di Piave, CNN reported. It is not clear who made the emergency call.
Clarifying that the other man was injured and recovering, the winery&rsquo;s owner said that his &ldquo;thoughts go to these two men, who grew up with us, and their families,&rdquo; as per CNN.

Water flowing from the nearby Plentzia River helps maintain temperatures around the cages at between 12 and 17 degrees Celsius (53 to 62 degrees Fahrenheit).

Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik said that the decision was taken to give a boost to fruit-based wineries which provide additional income to farmers. 
According to the govt order, supermarkets and walk-in-stores which have area of 100 sq mt or more and are registered under the Maharashtra Shops and Establishments Act will be allowed to sell wine. 
But the supermarkets which are near places of worship or educational institutions can not sell wine.
Further, wine sale will not be allowed in the districts where prohibition is in force.
Supermarkets will have to be pay a fee of Rs 5,000 for selling wine.
