"My fear came true when he was tested again and it came up positive. Luckily, he is a strong teenager and exhibited no symptoms. In one way I was glad the three of us went through this at the same time so we could take care of one another and spend time together. He has since tested negative," Melania said on Wednesday.
While Melania and Barron stayed at the White House, Trump had to spend three nights and four days at a military hospital to recover from the disease. The president is now back on his campaign trail.
Sharing her experience, Melania said that she was very fortunate as her diagnosis came with minimal symptoms, though they hit her all at once and it seemed to be a roller coaster of symptoms in the days after.
"I experienced body aches, a cough and headaches, and felt extremely tired most of the time. I chose to go a more natural route in terms of medicine, opting more for vitamins and healthy food. We had wonderful caretakers around us and we will be forever grateful for the medical care and professional discretion we received from Dr. Conley and his team," she said.
"It was an unfamiliar feeling for me to be the patient instead of a person trying to encourage our nation to stay healthy and safe. It was me being taken care of now, and getting first-hand experience with all that Covid-19 can do," she said.
"As the patient, and the person benefitting from so much medical support, I found myself even more grateful and in awe of caretakers and first responders everywhere. To the medical staff and the residence staff who have been taking care of our family&mdash;thank you doesn&rsquo;t say enough," she wrote in an essay entitled "My Personal Experience with Covid-19".
The First Lady encouraged everyone to continue to live the healthiest life they can. A balanced diet, fresh air, and vitamins really are vital to keep our bodies healthy, she said.

"I was with my foreign minister counterparts from India, Australia, and Japan &ndash; a format that we call the Quad, four big democracies, four powerful economies, four nations, each of whom has real risk associated with the threats imposed &ndash; attempting to be imposed by the Chinese Communist Party. And they see it in their home countries too," he said.
Pompeo met External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar in Tokyo on Tuesday and they underscored the need to work together to advance, peace, prosperity and security in the Indo-Pacific and around the globe. He described his meeting with Jaishankar as "productive." "They see, the people of their (Quad) nations understanding that we all slept on this for too long. For decades, the West allowed the Chinese Communist Party to walk all over us. The previous administration bent a knee, too often allowed China to steal our intellectual properties and the millions of jobs that came along with it. They see that in their country too," he said in the interview.
In another interview with Larry O&rsquo;Connor, Pompeo said in his meetings with his counterparts from Japan, India and Australia, they began to develop a set of understandings and policies that can jointly take these countries to work to present a true resistance to the threats that the Chinese Communist Party poses to each of these nations.
"They absolutely need the United States to be their ally and partner in this fight," he said.
"But they&rsquo;ve all seen it, whether it&rsquo;s the Indians, who are actually having a physical confrontation with the Chinese up in the Himalayas in the northeastern part of India, the Chinese have now begun to amass huge forces against India in the north," he said.
India and China are locked in a bitter border standoff in eastern Ladakh since early May that has significantly strained the bilateral ties.

Washington, PTI: Describing getting coronavirus &ldquo;a blessing in disguise&rdquo;, US President Donald Trump on Wednesday told the countrymen that he will get them same medicine that cured him for free.
&ldquo;I want everybody to be given the same treatment as your president because I feel great. I feel like perfect. So, I think this was a blessing from God that I caught it. This was a blessing in disguise,&rdquo; Trump said in a video message.
Standing at the Rose Garden outside the Oval office, Trump attributed his fast cure to Regeneron drug along with others.
Trump was admitted to Walter Reed National Medical Center last Friday, a day after he and First Lady Melania Trump tested positive for Covid-19.
He was discharged from the hospital Monday.
On Wednesday Trump went to the Oval office to have a briefing on Hurricane Delta and on coronavirus stimulus.
Less than four weeks before the crucial presidential elections, Trump said he wants Americans to get the same treatment that he received.
"I want to get you what I got, and I'm going to make it free. We're going to get it in to the hospital as soon as you can as soon as we can with military handling the distribution,&rdquo; Trump said, adding that they have &ldquo;hundreds of thousands of doses that are just about ready&rdquo;.
According to Trump, in addition to Regeneron, there is a very similar drug from Eli Lilly, a pharmaceutical company.
&ldquo;They are coming out. And we're trying to get them emergency basis. I've authorised it,&rdquo; he said.
&ldquo;I walked in (the hospital). I didn't feel good. A short 24 hours later, I was feeling great. I wanted to get out of the hospital and that's what I want for everybody,&rdquo; he said.
Earlier in the day, his physician said Trump has been fever-free for more than four days now and that physical exam and vital signs remain stable and in normal range.

Noting that it was a matter of satisfaction that the Indo-Pacific concept has gained increasingly wider acceptance, Jaishankar said, "As vibrant and pluralistic democracies with shared values, our nations have collectively affirmed the importance of maintaining a free, open and inclusive Indo-Pacific." "We remain committed to upholding the rules-based international order, underpinned by the rule of law, transparency, freedom of navigation in the international seas, respect for territorial integrity and sovereignty and peaceful resolution of disputes," he said.
He said the meeting of the foreign ministers, despite the global pandemic, is a testimony to the importance that these consultations have gained, particularly in recent times.
The evolving situation in the Indo-Pacific region in the wake of China's increasing military muscle flexing has become a major talking point among leading global powers in the last few years. The US has been favouring making Quad a security architecture to check China's growing assertiveness.

Before boarding Marine One at Walter Reed, Trump told reporters that he was feeling good.
White House physician Dr Sean Conley told reporters at the Walter Reed National Military Center, Trump has exceeded all standard hospital discharge criteria and has received another dose of remdesivir drug in his treatment of COVID19.
&ldquo;Over the past 24 hours, the president has continued to improve. He's met or exceeded all standard hospital discharge criteria. He has received another dose of remdesivir you're here today, and then we plan to get him home,&rdquo; he said.
&ldquo;It's been more than 72 hours since his last fever. Oxygen levels, including ambulatory saturations and his work of breathing or all normal though. He may not entirely be out of the woods, yet the team and I agree that all our evaluations and most importantly, his clinical status support the president's safe return home, where he'll be surrounded by world-class medical care 24 seven,&rdquo; Dr Conley said.
Dr Sean Dooley, a pulmonary critical care physician, told reporters that the president continues to do very well.
His vital signs this morning, temperature was 98.1, his blood pressure 134 and 78 and respiratory rate 17 per minute. His heart rate was 68 beats per minute and his last Oxo hemoglobin saturation was 97 per cent on room air, he said.
He currently does not endorse any respiratory complaints, the physician said.
According to Dr Brian Garibaldi, director of Johns Hopkins Biocontainment Unit, on Sunday evening, the president received his third dose of remdesivir and he tolerated that infusion without difficulty.
His kidney and liver function continued to be normal, he said.

"You know that I have been complaining very strongly about the ballots and the ballots are a disaster." Trump has been pressing a monthslong campaign against mail-in voting this November by tweeting and speaking out critically about the practice. The president, who uses mail-in voting himself, has tried to distinguish between states that automatically send mail ballots to all registered voters and those, like Florida, that send them only to voters who request a mail ballot.

Close on the heels of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's signing of normalisation deals with the UAE and Bahrain in Washington, Gaza struck Israel with rocket fire. At least two rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip, one of which was intercepted by Israel's Iron Dome anti-missile system and the other crashed into the southern coastal city of Ashdod. The Israel Defence Forces said their fighter jets responded with air strikes on military targets belonging to Hamas, which controls the Gaza Strip. The IDF blamed Hamas and warned that it would 'bear the consequences for terror activity against Israeli civilians'.

US President Donald Trump on Tuesday hosted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and foreign ministers of the UAE and Bahrain for the signing of the historic Abraham Accord. Calling it the dawn of a new Middle East, Trump said that courage of the three leaders will bring a future in which people of all faiths and backgrounds live together in peace and prosperity. The Arab Accord, which is a set of bilateral agreements with Israel, does not mention the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Washington, PTI: US President Donald Trump on Tuesday hosted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and foreign ministers of the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain for the signing of the historic Abraham Accord, which is the first Arab-Israeli peace deal in 26 years.
"We are here this afternoon to change the course of history. After decades of division and conflict we mark the dawn of a new Middle East," Trump said, moments before the accord was signed at the South Lawns of the White House.
The UAE was represented by Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed and Bahrain by Foreign Minister Abdullatif Al Zayani. The Arab Accord -- essentially bilateral agreements with Israel -- does not mention the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
"Thanks to the great courage of the leaders of these three countries we take a major stride towards a future in which people of all faiths and backgrounds live together in peace and prosperity," Trump said.
The president pointed out that these were the only two peace deals between Israel and the Arab States in more than a quarter of a century. Egypt was the first Arab State to sign a peace deal with Israel in 1979. Jordon signed a peace pact in 1994.
"Now we have achieved two in a single month and there are more to follow," Trump said.
As per the agreements, the UAE and Bahrain will establish embassies, exchange ambassadors, cooperate and work together with Israel across a range of sectors, including tourism, trade, healthcare and security. "They are friends. The Abraham Accords also open the door for Muslims around the world to visit the historic sites in Israel and to peacefully pray at Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem, the third holiest site in Islam," Trump said, amidst applause and cheer from more than 200 invited guests.
Together these agreements will serve as the foundation for comprehensive peace across the entire region, Trump said.
Netanyahu described the accord as a "pivot of history", heralding a new dawn. "For thousands of years the Jewish people have prayed for peace. For decades, the Jewish state has prayed for peace and this is why today we are filled with such profound gratitude," he said.
"You have heard from the president that he has already lined up more and more countries. This was unimaginable a few years ago. But with resolve, determination, a fresh look at the way peace is done, this is being achieved," Netanyahu said.
Netanyahu said Israel is eager to invest in a future of prosperity, and peace.
"We've already begun to cooperate on combating coronavirus and I am sure that together we can find solutions to many of the problems that afflict our region and beyond," he said.
Foreign Minister Zayed said the UAE is witnessing a change in the Middle-East, one that gives hope around the world.

A visit by Krach is likely to inspire further anger from China. China considers self-ruled Taiwan part of its own territory, and strongly opposes any official contacts between other nations and the island.
Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed last week that it was in negotiations with the US on such talks, but did not comment on a specific date or who might attend from Washington.
Tensions are high between the US and China over issues including trade, cybersecurity, technology and Hong Kong's new national security law.

PTI,&nbsp;Washington: The nomination of Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize for brokering the landmark Israel-UAE deal is a "hard-earned and well-deserved honour," the White House has said, underlining that the US President has made peace a cornerstone of his foreign policy efforts.
Far-right Norwegian lawmaker Christian Tybring-Gjedde on Wednesday nominated Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize for his work in mediating the deal between Israel and the UAE which is seen as a historic step towards peace in the Middle East.
Israel and the UAE announced on August 13 that they were establishing full diplomatic relations. The first commercial direct flight between Israel and the UAE landed in Abu Dhabi on August 31 after both countries announced normalisation of relations. The deal would be signed on September 15 at the White House.
The UAE is only the third Arab country to establish diplomatic ties with the Jewish state. Israel's neighbours, Egypt and Jordan, being the other two Arab states to recognise Israel.
"President Trump was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in recognition of his work in brokering an Israel-United Arab Emirates peace deal. It was a historic deal and the first such deal in over two decades. This is a hard-earned and well-deserved honour for this President," White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany said on Wednesday.
President Trump has made peace a cornerstone of his recent foreign policy efforts, she said.
Any lawmaker serving in a national legislature can nominate a person for the Nobel Peace Prize.
Tybring-Gjedde was one of two Norwegian lawmakers who nominated Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2018 for his efforts to bring reconciliation between North Korea and South Korea. The 2018 prize was won by Denis Mukwege from Congo and Nadia Murad from Iraq for their efforts to end the use of sexual violence as a weapon of war and armed conflict.
In his nomination letter on Wednesday, Tybring-Gjedde, a member of the Norwegian Parliament for the far-right Progress Party, also cited Trump's &ldquo;key role in facilitating contact between conflicting parties and &hellip; creating new dynamics in other protracted conflicts, such as the Kashmir border dispute between India and Pakistan, and the conflict between North and South Korea, as well as dealing with the nuclear capabilities of North Korea,&rdquo; the Fox News reported.
Trump has repeatedly in the past offered to mediate between India and Pakistan on the Kashmir issue. However, India has maintained that the Kashmir issue is a bilateral one and no third party has any role.
McEnany said that the president's foreign policy will always be one of peace through strength, and that is what the American people are seeing abroad.
"Career politicians merely talk about the kind of results this president has achieved on the world stage," she said.
"These wins are possible because of the President's leadership and outsider perspective. President Trump addresses old challenges with new solutions and delivers results for the American people," she said.
Highlighting Trump's initiatives, McEnany said that the US has announced a drawdown of troops in Iraq from 5,200 to 3,000.
"We've secured better trade deals for the American worker. President Trump negotiated the USMCA (United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement), the U.S.-South Korea deal; ended the Trans-Pacific Partnership; brought back manufacturing jobs," she said. "President Trump has stood up to China: the phase one China deal; also tariffs to hold China accountable; and actions to block Huawei," she said.
President Trump has also defeated terrorists. The ISIS caliphate is destroyed. Al-Baghdadi is no longer on the battlefield, along with Iranian General Soleimani, she said.
He has also brokered economic normalisation between Serbia and Kosovo, a major breakthrough in this decades-old conflict, McEnany added.&nbsp;

Washington, PTI: US President Donald Trump has acknowledged downplaying the dangers of the deadly novel coronavirus as he did not want to create panic, according to a new book by a renowned US investigative journalist.
The book, 'Rage', by Bob Woodward is being described by the publisher as an "unprecedented" and "intimate tour de force" of new reporting on the Trump presidency that is facing a pandemic, economic disaster and racial unrest. It is scheduled to hit the stores on September 15, less than two months before the November 3 presidential elections.
Excerpts of the book and clippings of the interviews with Trump were released by Woodward to some media outlets on Wednesday.
"I wanted to, I wanted to always play it down," Trump told Woodward in March, a recording of which was released by the veteran journalist to 'The Washington Post'. "I still like playing it down, because I don't want to create a panic." In another interview on February 7, the audio clip of which was posted by 'The Washington Post', Trump told the journalist that the coronavirus was deadlier than the flu and could be transmitted through the air.
"That's always tougher than the touch. You don't have to touch things. Right? But the air, you just breath the air and that's how it's passed," he said. "It's also more deadly than even your strenuous flus." As per the book, Trump insists to Woodward he would triumph over the COVID-19 pandemic and the economic calamity.
"Don't worry about it, Bob. OK?" Trump told the author in July. "Don't worry about it. We'll get to do another book. You'll find I was right." The president on Wednesday defended his decision to downplay the dangers posed by the pathogen, refuting allegations that he lied to the people of the country.
"The fact is, I'm a cheerleader for this country, I love our country and I don't want people to be frightened," he said. "I don't want to create panic, as you say. And certainly, I'm not going to drive this country or the world into a frenzy." Trump underlined that the administration wanted to show confidence and strength as a nation amid the pandemic.
"And that's what I've done. And we've done very well," Trump said. "We don't want to jump up and down and start shouting that we have a problem that is a tremendous problem -- scare everybody." Trump pointed out that the administration immediately started buying masks other health equipments during the early stages of the outbreak. "And we don't want to cause pricing to go up to a level that becomes almost unaffordable," he said.
Woodward defended his decision to delay release of the excerpts of his interview with Trump.
"I told him it was for the book," Woodward told The Washington Post. "But as far as promising not to publish in real time or signing such an agreement... I don't do that." 'Rage' draws from hundreds of hours of interviews with firsthand witnesses as well as participants' notes, emails, diaries, calendars and confidential documents. Woodward has as many as 18 on-the-record interviews, which began in February.
The book also covers race relations, diplomacy with North Korea and a range of other issues during the past two years.
