Bihar Director General of Police&nbsp;Gupteshwar Pandey on Tuesday took voluntary retirement from service, triggering speculations that the outspoken officer would contest the coming state Assembly polls.&nbsp;Pandey&nbsp;was involved in the investigation of actor Sushant Singh Rajput's death by suicide in Mumbai.&nbsp;He had recently been in the headlines for his stout defence of the Nitish Kumar administration when it was under attack from the Shiv Sena-led government in Maharashtra over Bihar Police's probe into the death of Rajput. He had also courted controversy with his 'aukaat' remark on Rhea Chakraborty.

Patna, PTI: Bihar Director General of Police (DGP) Gupteshwar Pandey on Tuesday took voluntary retirement from service, triggering speculations that the outspoken officer would contest the coming state Assembly polls.
Pandey's request seeking voluntary retirement was approved by Governor Phagu Chauhan, a notification issued by the state home department said.
Director General (Homeguards) SK Singhal has been given additional charge of DGP, ADG (Headquarters) Jitendra Kumar told PTI.&nbsp;
Pandey, a 1987 batch IPS officer, was involved in the investigation of actor Sushant Singh Rajput's death by suicide in Mumbai.
He had recently been in the headlines for his stout defence of the Nitish Kumar administration when it was under attack from the Shiv Sena-led government in Maharashtra over Bihar Police's probe into the death of Rajput.&nbsp;
He had also courted controversy with his 'aukaat' remark on Rhea Chakraborty.
Bihar Assembly election is likely to be held in October-November.
Pandey had taken premature retirement to contest the Lok Sabha elections in 2009, but later the state government did not accept his VRS application and reinstated him in the service.

SBI plans VRS for over 30,000 employees to cut cost

State Bank of India has planned a voluntary retirement scheme under which about 30,190 employees are eligible out of its 2.49 lakh&nbsp;employees

In a bid to optimise its costs, the State Bank of India has planned a voluntary retirement scheme or&nbsp;VRS&nbsp;under which about 30,190 employees are eligible. The total employee strength of the country's largest lender stood at 2.49 lakh at the end of March 2020.
The scheme will be opened to all permanent officers and staff who have put in 25 years of service or completed 55 years of age. The scheme will open on December 1 and will remain open till the end of February.
The total net savings for the bank would be ₹1,662&nbsp;crore if 30% of eligible employees opt for retirement under the scheme.
