A section of people are now lashing out at the actor for promoting patriarchy and oppression with the luxury mangalsutra. Taking a dig at Priyanka, a tweet said, "girlbosses will exploit feminism mercilesslessly for personal economic gain and then expect applause for it". Netizens are asking why Priyanka chose to flaunt a symbol that denotes decades-old patriarchy.

The mangalsutra, called the 'Bvlgari Bvlgari necklace' has a diamond in the centre with small black onyx stones, covered in double-logo gold circles. The brand describes the necklace as a &ldquo;contemporary statement of elegance&rdquo; adding that, "recalling the curved inscriptions of ancient Roman coins, the double logo is a timeless trademark of Bvlgari&rsquo;s creativity to this day."
