Embassies and consulates may still require an in-person interview on a case-by-case basis and dependent upon local conditions.

The world's largest online retailer Amazon is now in a bitter battle with the world's largest credit card provider Visa.  Amazon has said it would stop accepting Visa credit cards in the U.K. and that it was considering ending its partnership with Visa on a co-branded card in the U.S as well. Amazon users were informed by the company saying that from Jan. 2022 “we will no longer accept Visa credit cards issued in the U.K.” due to the high fees charged to process transaction.An Amazon spokesperson said “the cost of accepting card payments continues to be an obstacle for businesses striving to provide the best prices for customers.” Visa however said it expects to resolve its disputes with Amazon. “Clearly, we’re in a challenging negotiation,” Visa CEO Al Kelly told the Financial Times (FT), the media outlet reported Saturday (Nov. 20). “What’s different here is that Amazon unfortunately decided to take the negotiation challenges that we’re having public and oddly has chosen to threaten to punish consumers.”UK is not the only place where Visa card holders are being 'punished', Amazon has already imposed a surcharge for those using Visa credit cards in Singapore and Australia.

Tourists entering India must be fully vaccinated, follow all Covid-19 protocols and test negative for the virus within 72 hours of their flight, according to the health ministry. Many will also need to undergo a post-arrival Covid-19 test at the airport.
However, travelers from countries which have agreements with India for mutual recognition of vaccination certificates, such as the US, UK and many European nations, can leave the airport without undergoing a Covid-19 test.
This is the first time India has allowed foreign tourists on commercial flights to enter the country since March 2020, when it imposed one of the toughest lockdowns in the world in an attempt to contain the pandemic. Fully vaccinated tourists on chartered flights were allowed to enter starting last month.
It comes as coronavirus infections have fallen significantly, with daily new cases hovering at just above 10,000 for over a month.
To encourage travelers to visit India, the government plans to issue 500,000 free visas through next March. The moves are expected to boost the tourism and hospitality sector which was battered by the pandemic.
With more than 35 million reported coronavirus infections, India is the second-worst-hit country after the US. Active coronavirus cases stand at 134,096, the lowest in 17 months, according to the health ministry.
Nearly 79% of India&rsquo;s adult population has received at least one vaccine dose while 38% is fully vaccinated. The federal government has asked state administrations to conduct door-to-door campaigns to accelerate the vaccine campaign.

Good news for Indian Americans. In yet another immigration-friendly move, the Biden administration has agreed to provide automatic work authorisation permits to spouses of H-1B visas holders. The move would benefit thousands of Indian-American women.
The settlement was reached by the Department of Homeland Security in a class-action lawsuit, which was filed by the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) on behalf of immigrant spouses.
"This (H-4 visa holders) is a group that always met the regulatory test for automatic extension of EADs (employment authorisation documents), but the agency previously prohibited them from that benefit and forced them to wait for reauthorisation. People were suffering. They were losing their high-paying jobs for absolutely no legitimate reason causing harm to them and US businesses," Jon Wasden from AILA said.
The litigation successfully achieved the reversal of the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) policy that prohibited H-4 spouses from benefiting from the automatic extension of their employment authorisation during the pendency of stand-alone applications.
"Although this is a giant achievement, the parties' agreement will further result in a massive change in position for the USCIS, which now recognises that L-2 spouses enjoy automatic work authorisation incident to status, meaning these spouses of executive and managers will no longer have to apply for employment authorisation prior to working in the United States," AILA said.
"We are delighted to have reached this agreement, which includes relief for H-4 spouses, through our litigation efforts with Wasden Banias and Steven Brown. It is gratifying that the administration saw that settling the litigation for non-immigrant spouses was something that should be done, and done quickly," said Jesse Bless, AILA director of federal litigation.

Taking cognizance of the current situation in Afghanistan,&nbsp;the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Wednesday said all Afghan nationals will have travel to India only on e-Visa.&nbsp;
In its official release, Ministry of Home Affairs said keeping in view some reports that certain passports of Afghan nationals have been misplaced, previously issued visas to all Afghan nationals, who are presently not in India, stand invalidated with immediate effect.&nbsp;
"Afghan nationals wishing to travel to India may apply for e-Visa at www.indianvisaonline.gov.in," the statement from MHA said.
The Union Home Ministry had on August 17 announced a new category of visa to fast-track the applications of Afghans who want to come to India.
