India batting coach Vikram Rathour on Thursday said the Ranchi wicket hosting the fourth Test against England has "enough cracks" and would favour the spinners but insisted they have enough firepower to cope with any condition.
India's pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has been the top-wicket taker of the series but he would be missing the fourth Test after being given a break to manage his workload.
The move has led many to believe that India will go for a rank-turner for the fourth Test beginning on Friday.
"Every time we play in India, there's a question mark on the pitch ... It's a typical Indian wicket, there are cracks, this wicket always had cracks," Rathour told reporters on the eve of the match.
"It will turn, but how much it will turn and from when we are not sure. But we have enough balance in our team." He said Bumrah is absolutely fine but it was not "advisable" to play him continuously. The India spearhead has bowled 80.5 overs in three Tests, taking 17 wickets at an average of 13.64.
"I think every Test match is a crucial test match, to be honest. With WTC points, every game is crucial. Even we would love Bumrah to play all the games," Rathour said.
"But unfortunately that is not very advisable because the kind of workload he has had in the last three games. He has really bowled well and with a lot of heart, a lot of effort.
"For the kind of schedule we have in the future, with IPL and all, it was felt by everybody involved that he should be given a break. Otherwise he is absolutely fine physically. But it was felt that it is better that he gets a break because there was hardly any turnaround time between the games." India's top-order batter KL Rahul, who is doing rehab after struggling with quadriceps pain, too was ruled out of the fourth Test and seems doubtful for Dharamsala.
"For me either he is fit or he is not. At the moment he is not fit. I am not sure what percent he is fit at the moment and what is the stage," he said.
"I am not sure, the medical team will be able to advise that but as far as we are concerned he is not fit and not available for this game, so we are focusing on this team." Asked about players' skipping matches in Ranji Trophy, Rathour said: "It's the selectors' job to pick the 15. This question is better asked to them, I used to be a selector but I'm not anymore.
"At the moment we see that people who have done well in domestic cricket are promoted. It's good everybody should get chances."&nbsp;

Indian batting coach Vikram Rathour feels India are always expected to win at home, Highlighting the phenomenal records for the hosts. With less than 2 days to go for the second Test in Visakhapatnam, Rathour also expressed confidence that the pitch for the 2nd Test will offer turn. "It looks like a wicket that will turn. Maybe not from first day but it will eventually turn. So it should turn," Rathour told reporters on Wednesday. Rathour also said it "will be tough" to pick one among Sarfaraz Khan and Rajat Patidar in the second Test against England. The match begins here from Friday, with hosts India seeking to draw parity after losing the series opener in Hyderabad. After the first game, India faced injury concerns with all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul being ruled out of the second Test, in addition to the absence of star batter Virat Kohli. This forced the selectors to add uncapped Sarfaraz Khan, Sourabh Kumar and Washington Sundar to the squad, and Rajat Patidar also made the team. "It will be a tough choice. What value they bring to the team, of course, is that they are superb players. We have seen how well they have done in domestic cricket in the last few years," Rathour said of the reinforcements during a press conference. "So on these kind of wickets, I think they can really add a lot of value to the team." He added, "If we have to pick just one out of them, of course, it would be tough. But, that decision will be made by Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma." The playing XI will be finalised keeping in mind the conditions. &nbsp;'No question of recovery'&nbsp; India slipped to fifth place on the World Test Championship (WTC) table following the loss in Hyderabad and the hosts would be desperate to bounce back here. Rathour said that more than recovery, the players need to learn and move on. "There's no question of recovery. You keep learning every game that you play. Of course, we could have done better in batting, bowling and fielding. A lot of discussions and ideas are being shared, preparing well and hoping to do well in the next game." He expressed confidence in the players' ability to bounce back and cited India's unbeaten record in Test series at home since 2012. "We keep talking about our batters (not scoring enough), but India has been winning a lot of series at home. We haven't lost a series at home for 12-13 years. "It means we are putting up more runs than the other teams. These are tough conditions to score runs, but I'm sure that the batters will find a way."&nbsp; 'Don't think players require too much coaching'&nbsp; At this level, Rathour said the players just need to act as per the situation. "Once you come to this level, I don't think you require too much coaching. It's about reading the situations and making smarter decisions. "As long as they are asking the right questions and receiving the right answers, there is no chance of over-coaching," he concluded.&nbsp; (With PTI and AP inputs)

The in-form Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav "understand" that they will have to wait for their chances in the ODI format, India's batting coach Vikram Rathour said on Saturday.
Despite their exploits in T20Is in recent times, both the players were not considered for the first two ODIs against Sri Lanka in the ongoing three-match series, leaving the fans and few former players surprised.
"They are not forced (to sit out), I mean, the others are doing good as well. As players they do understand that, and they need to wait for their opportunity, and they are preparing for that, they train hard and whenever that opportunity comes, they do well and hold on to their places," Rathour said.
While Surya is the world's number one batter in T20 batter and enjoying a prolific run in the shortest format, Ishan came into the Sri Lanka series on the back of his ODI double hundred in Bangladesh.
Asked if Ishan can be asked to bat in the middle order, Rathour said, "At the moment, he has been picked as an opener but as a batting unit we are flexible and if there is a need to try somebody like Ishan in the middle order, we might have to. At the moment though, he is being looked at as an opener." When the discussion turned to Surya, the batting coach said, "He has great potential, he has been in great form, it is great to have him in the reserve, and hopefully, when the time comes, he will take that opportunity and do well for the team. It is great to have such a versatile player in the team." Regarding the ODI World Cup scheduled later in the year, Rathour said "20 games are enough" to zero in on the core group of players for the showpiece.
"I think, 20 games are enough, if we can shortlist the players, that the core we are focusing on. As team management we do understand which are the players we are looking to focus on. If we have clarity then I think 20 games are enough to work on those certain areas.
"We have always been a good 50 over format team, just some areas to fine-tune and 20 games are enough to do that." When asked about the lower batting order, Rathour said, 'they need to bat more in the nets, that is the thing we strive for, we make them bat more, the more they bat the better they become. We encourage them to keep batting at the nets even when they go and play for their states and IPL'
"That is what has been told to them. We want them to get better and if we can get more runs from the lower order, it will be great. That's an area we are looking to get better.
"Axar Patel has been batting well actually, he has always been a good player, we always believe he has a lot of potential in his batting as well and that is what he is showing lately.
"As a team, it gives us lots of options as far as playing all-rounders is concerned. We have three guys who can bat well, I am sure (Ravindra) Jadeja will be back soon, then we have Axar and Washington Sundar who can bat. It is great to have those options." Coming back to the current rubber, he said the team requires improvements in certain areas.
"We have already won the series but there are few areas where we want to get better, we are looking to improve. This being a World Cup year, there are still areas we are working on and this is one more opportunity to do that against a decent team."

On the eve of the India-Bangladesh Test, Rathour said KL Rahul's injury doesn't look too serious, stating that the stand-in captain should be fine to lead the side for the 2nd Test in Dhaka.

Reports suggest KL Rahul was hit on the hand while receiving throwdowns during a nets session. While there's some bruising, Rathour is hopeful that Rahul will be fine to lead India on Dec 22.
In case Rahul isn't fit, Cheteshwar Pujara, who was picked as the vice-captain ahead of the first Test, will lead India.
