A total of 37 families were brought in from Karur to the meeting venue &mdash; a resort where the party had booked about 50 rooms, the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) source said. The leader was meeting them individually and lunch had been arranged.
Vijay assured the families of monetary support, besides assistance for education, the source added.
Earlier, the members were brought in five buses and were expected to be taken back to Karur, about 400 km from here, later in the day, the source said.
Vijay's TVK had arranged the meeting at the resort to enable him to personally meet the bereaved families and convey his condolences.
As many as 41 people lost their lives and over 60 were injured in the stampede that occurred at the TVK meeting addressed by Vijay on September 27.

A bomb threat email sent to actor-politician Vijay&rsquo;s Neelankarai home turned out to be a hoax after thorough police checks.

Actor-politician Vijay received a mail on Thursday saying that a bomb had been planted at his Neelankarai residence, and it was found to be a hoax after checking the house, police said.
On getting a call, the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) was sent to the spot early in the morning, and checks were carried out, but nothing was found, police officials added.
A constable who was at the scene said they started the search around 3 am. Initially, the search was conducted outside the house. Later, when Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam founder Vijay woke up, police were let into the house to search, he added.
"We left around 7.25 am when we found nothing," said the constable.
An Assistant Commissioner of Police told PTI that city personalities have been receiving bomb hoax mails from a Hotmail address.
"Last month, another actor-politician, S Ve Shekher also received a bomb threat mail. The content of these emails are similar. We are yet to trace that mail ID," said the official.
On October 6, a prominent national daily from Chennai, too, received a bomb threat mail claiming three RDX IEDs had been planted in their premises.
Like in previous cases, the BDD Squad declared it a hoax after a thorough search.

A bench comprising Chief Justice B R Gavai and Justice K Vinod Chandran took note of the submissions of a lawyer that the plea, filed through TVK&rsquo;s secretary Aadhav Arjuna, be listed for hearing.
On Tuesday, the bench agreed to hear on October 10 BJP leader Uma Anandan's plea challenging the high court order refusing a CBI probe into the September 27 stampede and seeking a CBI investigation.
The CJI agreed to hear the instant plea on Friday along with the other petition.
TVK has sought an independent investigation under the supervision of the Supreme Court, contending that a fair and impartial probe would not be possible if conducted solely by officers of the Tamil Nadu police.
The stampede, which led to 41 deaths, injured more than 60 people. Police noted that the rally saw a turnout of 27,000, nearly three times the expected 10,000 participants. Police also blamed a seven-hour delay by Vijay in reaching the venue.&nbsp;

The top actor said he has never faced such a "painful situation" in his life.

"I didn't visit Karur as it would lead to an unusual situation. I will meet you (families of victims, the injured) soon," he said in a video message posted on his social media page.
His response came following criticism from various quarters for not visiting Karur and meet the victims' families and the injured.
Vijay said the truth about the fatal incident will come out soon, and hinted he was ready to face action.
"You may do anything to me," he said, even as his party colleagues including senior leaders Bussy N Anand and CTR Nirmal Kumar are police facing case in connection with the September 27 stampede in Tamil Nadu's western Karur district, about 400 km from state capital Chennai.
Seeking to take on the ruling DMK over the matter, he said "CM sir, if you have a thought of seeking vengeance, you may do anything to me and not touch the party men." On the day of the incident, he had left Karur hastily, considering people's safety, he claimed.
Vijay insisted he did nothing wrong.
"I did not do any wrong; my political journey will continue with renewed vigour," the actor-politician added.&nbsp;

Madras High Court has put a stay on single bench judgment which had imposed ₹1 lakh fine on Tamil actor Vijay&nbsp;and&nbsp;passed adverse observations against him for filing a petition challenging the levy of entry tax on his Rolls Royce.&nbsp;

The court was hearing a contempt petition against former Uttarakhand&nbsp;chief ministers for non-payment of dues during their tenures. Licypriya Kangujam, a 9-year-old climate and environment activist staged a protest in Vijay Chowk over air pollution in the national capital.
Kangujam&nbsp;addressed world leaders at the 2019 United&nbsp;Nations&nbsp;Climate Conference to take immediate action against the climate change.
Holding a placard in front of Vijay&nbsp;Chowk, she&nbsp;said, "I want our leaders to take action to fight air pollution. They are busy blaming each other instead of finding a solution. No action is being taken."

SPB's funeral was held in Chennai on Saturday afternoon.
The veteran singer whose voice enchanted Indian cinema and music lovers over the last 5 decades, was honoured with a 72-gun salute by the Tamil Nadu police.
The late singer's family and actor Vijay along with Music composer Devi Sri Prasad,&nbsp;director Bharathiraja&nbsp;and comedian Mayilsami were also part of Balasubrahmanyam's funeral.
