16 killed, 66 injured in multi-vehicle collision in China: report

At least 16 people were killed and 66 others injured after a multi-vehicle collisions occurred in central China&rsquo;s Hunan province, a media report said on Sunday.
The accidents happened on Saturday evening when a total of 49 vehicles collided within 10 minutes on the Xuchang- Guangzhou Highway in the Hunan province&rsquo;s Changsha city, the state-run CGTN's news portal reported.
&ldquo;In the accident 16 people were killed and 66 others injured,&rdquo; said the report, quoting the local traffic police department. All the injured people have been sent to hospitals, among them eight were seriously injured but are in a stable condition.

The Ministry of Emergency Management has sent a working team to the site to guide the handling of the accidents, the report said.
An investigation into the matter and the settlement of the aftermath are currently underway.

The vehicle known as Velomobile meaning 'bicycle car' is shaped like a car but has three wheels.
Owner of the car Phaneesh Nagaraja said Velomobile is operated manually like bicycle, without any power assistance. &nbsp;
A user who shared Velomobile's video claimed that the vehicle has been imported from Netherlands.
The appearance of the vehicle intrigued many netizens who expressed their wish to ride it, while several raised concerns over vehicle's durability.&nbsp;

US: multiple vehicles crash inside San Francisco's Bay Bridge tunnel

Multiple eastbound lanes were closed after the collisions which happened around 12:40pm local time, officials said.

At least 16 people were injured on Thursday when seven vehicles crashed inside San Francisco's Bay Bridge tunnel.
Multiple eastbound lanes were closed after the collisions which happened around 12:40pm local time, officials said.
A long queue of traffic could be seen after the crash.
Two of the people injured were hospitalised, though their injuries appeared minor, officials said.

All 16 people who were either taken to hospitals or treated at the scene were expected to recover, they added.
The fire department had earlier said that 18 people were injured, and four of them had been transported to a hospital.
However, they later issued revised figures.
All of the lanes were re-opened shortly after 2pm.
Details about what caused the pileup were not immediately known.
