<p>Dhawan's first look comes right after the recent unveiling of the first poster featuring franchise star Sunny Deol. "Border 2" is a sequel to Deol's 1997 hit "Border" which was based on the events of the Battle of Longewala.</p>

<p>The sequel is directed by Anurag Singh who previously helmed the Akshay Kumar-period war drama starrer &ldquo;Kesari&rdquo;. Alongside Deol and Dhawan, the film also features an ensemble cast including Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty, Medha Rana, Mona Singh, and Sonam Bajwa.</p>
<p>Produced by Bhushan Kumar, J.P. Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta, the sequel is presented by Gulshan Kumar and T-Series in association with J.P. Dutta&rsquo;s J.P. Films and is slated to release in theatres on January 23, 2026, right before Republic Day.</p>

<p>The Forest Rights Act is primarily known for protecting the land rights of tribal communities, but it is also benefiting several other groups, covering a wider section of society, in Goa, a senior official has said.</p>
<p>Ajay Ramchandra Gaude, state nodal officer for the implementation of the Act in the coastal state, said that of the 10,136 claims they have received, more than 4,000 have been made by &lsquo;Other Forest Dwellers' (OTFDs).</p>
<p>The Goa government under Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has announced that it will clear all land claims filed under the Scheduled Tribes and Other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest Rights) Act, popularly known as the Forest Rights Act, before December 19.</p>
<p>Gaude told PTI Videos that most of the claims have been received from the talukas of Canacona and Dharbandora in South Goa and Sattari in North Goa.</p>
<p>In Sattari, of the 2,460 claims settled so far, only 46 belong to members of the Scheduled Tribe community, while 2,414 have been filed by those from non-ST groups. As far as claims filed by groups as a single entity, no such requests have come from the ST community. However, 22 similar claims have been filed by OTFDs, he said.</p>
<p>According to the official, anybody belonging to any community, caste, or any religion can put in their claims if they live in the forest and depend on forest produce for sustenance.</p>
<p>In Dharbandora taluka, of the 1,704 claims settled, 761 are of tribals, 964 are non-ST beneficiaries. Of the 73 community claims in this taluka, 26 are of ST beneficiaries and 47 are from non-ST groups, the official said.</p>
<p>Gaude said the Forest Rights Act was brought in to help those living in forest areas for years and depending on forest produce.</p>
<p>&ldquo;So, the Forest Rights Act is basically for everyone. There is a misconception that the Forest Rights Act is only for the tribal community. It is not so,&rdquo; he said.</p>
<p>&ldquo;It&rsquo;s not just the tribal community that is benefiting under the Act. Through these forest rights claims, we are giving &lsquo;sanads&rsquo; (certificates giving right over land) to different communities in the state of Goa,&rdquo; he said.</p>
<p>However, the scene is different in the Canacona taluka, where all the 2,450 individuals whose claims are being settled belong to the ST community.</p>
<p>Vishant Ranganath Khandeparkar, a resident of Codli village in Dharbandora taluka, said his forefathers cultivated their land for more than 100 years.</p>
<p>&ldquo;After them, I am continuing it. Through the Act, we have got the sanad. The government and the forest department have done a good job,&rdquo; said the non-ST beneficiary.</p>
<p>Babita Nagesh Lambor, another non-tribal claimant and resident of Collem village in Dharbandora taluka, said they have been living in forest areas for over a century.</p>
<p>&ldquo;Earlier, we used to grow rice, sugarcane, cashewnut, coconut, and much more. We have got the sanad from the government and subsequently received benefits from the Agriculture Department,&rdquo; she said.</p>

<p>Varun Dhawan-starrer "Baby John" has raised Rs 11.25 crore in net box office collections on the first day of its release, the makers said on Thursday.</p>
<p>Directed by Kalees, the Hindi action film stars Dhawan in the dual roles of police inspector Satya Verma and John, his alter ego. It hit the screens on Wednesday.</p>
<p>"Baby John" is presented by Jio Studios in association with Atlee and Cine1 Studios and produced by A for Apple Studios and Murad Khetani's Cine1 Studios.</p>
<p>"'Baby John', directed by Kalees, opened to an impressive INR 11.25 crore nett on Day 1 in India, marking it as the biggest opener for a non-franchise film post-pandemic," the makers said in a statement.</p>
<p>The movie is the Hindi remake of the 2016 Tamil film "Theri", directed by Atlee and starring Vijay in the lead.</p>
<p>"Baby John" also holds "the record for the highest opening day collection among remake films" released after the pandemic, the makers further said.</p>
<p>Wamiqa Gabbi, Keerthy Suresh and Jackie Shroff round out the cast of the film.</p>

<p>According to the makers, the film is set against a backdrop of "patriotism and courage" and promises to deliver "unparalleled action, gripping drama, and emotional depth".</p>
<p>Singh previously helmed films like "Kesari", "Punjab 1984", "Jatt &amp; Juliet" and "Dil Bole Hadippa!".</p>
<p>"Border", which chronicled a pivotal chapter from the 1971 India-Pakistan war, was a hit at the box office when it was released in June 1997. The film also starred Suniel Shetty, Jackie Shroff, Akshaye Khanna, Sudesh Berry and Puneet Issar.</p>
<p>Its supporting cast included Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Tabu, Raakhee, Pooja Bhatt and Sharbani Mukherjee.</p>

<p>The makers of 'Border 2' have cast Varun Dhawan for the second part of the film. The announcement was made on August 23. After the team dropped the major update, Varun also shared a video on Instagram, confirming the same.&nbsp;</p>
<p>The update was shared through a video message in which Varun was also seen narrating a dilalogue. The makers also revealed that the film will release on January 23, 2026. &ldquo;Welcoming Fauji @varundvn to the Battalion of Border2,&rdquo; wrote Sunny on X while sharing the video.</p>
<p>In the video, which also has Sonu Nigam&rsquo;s famous Border song Sandese Aate Hai, Varun is heard saying, &ldquo;Dushman ki har goli se Jai Hind bolke takrata hun&hellip; Jab dharti maa bulati hai sab chodh ke aata hun&hellip; Hindustan ka fauji hoon main&rdquo;.</p>

<p>Varun Dhawan and Natasha Dalal, who are expecting their first child, recently celebrated with a teddy-themed baby shower, a glimpse of which was shared by actor Shahid Kapoor&rsquo;s wife Mira Rajput.</p>
<p>In her Instagram Stories, Mira Rajput shared a photo of a tiered cake with a teddy on top, reading, &lsquo;Congratulations Nats &amp; VD.&rsquo; She wrote, &lsquo;Congrats VD &amp; Natasha,&rsquo; followed by a pink heart emoji.</p>
<p>Following the baby shower, Varun and Natasha prepared special gifts for the paparazzi to express their joy.</p>

<p>Varun's path to winning Natasha's heart wasn't easy. In an interview with Kareena Kapoor Khan, he revealed that Natasha had turned down his proposal several times. The actor, famous for his Bollywood roles, spoke about their enduring friendship that evolved into love.</p>
<p>&lsquo;The first time I met Natasha was in the sixth standard. We were friends till the eleventh or twelfth grade. We were very close friends, Varun revealed during the interview.
