A UK teenager was reportedly rushed to the hospital after a hole was formed in her lung due to vaping. The teenager vaped equivalent to 400 cigarettes per week. According to Metro, the teen named Kyla Blythe collapsed and turned 'blue' during a sleepover with a friend. According to Action on Smoking and Health (ASH), the popularity of vapes has increased among children, nearly doubling to 20% in 2023. Children below 5 are also reported to be addicted to vaping and are falling ill due to collapsed lungs.
<h3>E-cigarettes have been available in the U.S. for around ten years</h3>
According to American Lung Association, E-cigarettes, a newer tobacco product, have been available in the U.S. for around ten years. However, the Food and Drug Administration has not yet thoroughly reviewed the e-cigarettes currently sold in the U.S. to assess their effects on lung health. Although much is still unknown about the long-term health effects of these products, the American Lung Association is concerned about the emerging evidence regarding the impact of e-cigarettes on lung health.
<h3>WHO urged governments to consider e-cigarettes as harmful as tobacco</h3>
As per a report, the World Health Organization (WHO) last year had urged governments from all over the world to consider e-cigarettes as harmful as tobacco and to ban all flavours.
&ldquo;Kids are being recruited and trapped at an early age to use e-cigarettes and may get hooked to nicotine,&rdquo; WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said in the release. &ldquo;I urge countries to implement strict measures to prevent uptake to protect their citizens, especially their children and young people.&rdquo;
<h3>Harmful effects of vaping on children</h3>
The harms of vaping affect both children and adults, posing significant health risks:

<li>Vaping products often contain nicotine, which is highly addictive. Young brains are particularly susceptible to addiction, which can impact learning, memory, and attention.</li>
<li>Nicotine exposure during adolescence can harm brain development, potentially affecting cognitive functions and emotional regulation.</li>
<li>Vaping can cause respiratory problems such as chronic bronchitis and can exacerbate asthma symptoms.</li>
<li>Adolescents who vape are more likely to start smoking traditional cigarettes, leading to long-term tobacco use.</li>
<li>E-cigarettes can contain harmful substances like heavy metals, volatile organic compounds, and cancer-causing agents, posing additional health risks.</li>

Scientists caution that vaping could potentially lead to reduced sperm counts, diminished libido, and testicle shrinkage. In a study involving male rats conducted in Turkey, researchers investigated the impact of exposure to both e-cigarette and conventional cigarette smoke on the sexual health of rodents.
Nicotine has long been linked to decreased sperm counts and low sperm density, which means fewer sperm are available to fertilize an egg and initiate a pregnancy.
They assessed various factors, including sperm production, testicular characteristics under a microscope, and indicators of stress in the blood and reproductive organs.
The authors of the study emphasize the need for more extensive research into the potential effects of vaping on the male reproductive system.
However, it's important to note that regular cigarettes, which have long been associated with male infertility, were found to have even more detrimental effects in terms of lowering sperm count and disrupting sexual function.
A 2020 study conducted in Denmark, involving over 2,000 men, discovered that individuals who used e-cigarettes daily had significantly lower total sperm counts compared to non-users.

According to a recent study published in Nature Communications, e-cigarettes can cause cardiac troubles.&nbsp;
During the research, the team tested the impact of e-cigarettes which are made from nicotine, vegetable glycerin and nicotine-free propylene glycol.&nbsp;
They found that vapes (e-liquids) contain specific chemicals in flavours that can provoke cardiac arrhythmias and may increase the risk of A-Fib and cardiac arrest.&nbsp;
So, have real fruit instead of Grape Ice and Very Berry (IYKYK).
