The workers rescued from the Uttarkashi tunnel were flown to AIIMS Rishikesh for medical examination.

After undergoing medical check-up at Chinyalisaur Community Health Centre, the 41 workers rescued from the collapsed Uttarkashi tunnel were taken to AIIMS Rishikesh for further examination.
The were flown by Indian Air Force's transport aircraft Chinook.
The workers were said to be fine following the initial examination.
During their time in the tunnel, they were provided oxygen, food and water through pipes. After their evacuation, they were immediately transported to the local health centre in ambulances.
Of the 41 men, 15 are from Jharkhand, two from Uttarakhand, five from Bihar, three from West Bengal, eight from Uttar Pradesh, five from Odisha, two from Assam and one from Himachal Pradesh.

The Uttarkashi rescue operation is in its last stage and the workers are expected to come out soon.

Mattresses, ropes and ladders have been taken inside the tunnel.

Uttarkashi tunnel rescue: First day of vertical drilling, 19.2 of 86 metres done

NHIDCL MD Mahmood Ahmed said at a press briefing in Silkyara on Sunday evening that vertical drilling has gone up to 19.2 metres.&nbsp;

Vertical drilling of 19.2 metres was done on Sunday to create an alternative escape route for the 41 workers trapped inside the collapsed tunnel in Silkyara here for two weeks, an official said.
Drilling to create a vertical pathway from the top of the hill above the collapsed tunnel began on Sunday, a day after an auger machine carrying out horizontal drilling broke down.
Rescuers have to drill down 86 metres from above to reach the trapped workers.
Vertical drilling has gone up to 19.2 metres so far, NHIDCL MD Mahmood Ahmed said at a press briefing in Silkyara on Sunday evening.

"The exercise is going on smoothly and if it goes like this without facing obstructions, we can hope to finish it in four days by November 30," he said.
On Saturday, the auger machine's blades got stuck inside the rubble, hindering the multi-agency rescue effort that began on November 12 when a portion of the under-construction tunnel on Uttarakhand's Char Dham route collapsed following a landslide, trapping the 41 workers inside.&nbsp;

Uttarkashi tunnel crisis: landline set up for trapped workers who now can call their families 

DGM, BSNL, Rakesh Chaudhary said his team will give the workers a phone connected with the line via the pipe being used for sending food.

A landline facility has been set up at the Silkyara tunnel in Uttarkashi to keep trapped workers connected with their family members, officials said on Saturday.
The facility has been set up by the BSNL and a handset will be given to the workers trapped inside the partially collapsed tunnel for the past 13 days, they said.
"We have set up a telephone exchange. We will give them a phone connected with the line via the pipe being used for sending food. This phone will have incoming and outgoing facilities. They can talk to their family," DGM, BSNL, Rakesh Chaudhary told PTI.
The exchange has been set up 200 metres away from the Silkyara tunnel, Chaudhary said.
Impatience is growing among 41 trapped men and their kin, after the rescue work was stopped due to some hurdles on Friday.
At present, the communication between the trapped workers and their relatives is facilitated by a communication system set up through a six-inch wide pipe.
An endoscopic camera was also pushed through this pipe, allowing rescue workers and relatives of the trapped men to see the condition inside. Drilling at the collapsed portion of the tunnel has been halted since Friday as the the auger machine faced hurdles one after another. A tunnelling expert at the site said on Saturday the machine was broken.
Rescuers are now exploring other options such as drilling the remaining stretch of 10 to 12 metres manually or creating a vertical escape passage for the 41 labourers trapped inside.
The multi-agency rescue effort began November 12 when a portion of the under-construction tunnel on Uttarakhand's Char Dham route collapsed following a landslide, trapping the workers inside.
