The US Air Force member who set himself on fire outside the Israeli embassy in Washington DC succumbed to his injuries. The man was identified as the 25-year-old Aaron Bushnell of San Antonio, Texas.
The airman livestreamed his act and yelled "Free Palestine&rdquo;, before collapsing to the ground. In the video streamed on Twitch, the man dressed in military fatigues put his phone down and filmed himself dousing liquid from a water bottle over his head and lighting himself on fire.
Calling the Israeli crackdown in Gaza as "genocide", the soldier said that would no longer be complicit in the killings. He was on fire for about a minute before law enforcement put it out.

An active-duty member of the US Air Force was critically injured Sunday after setting himself ablaze outside the Israeli Embassy in Washington DC, while declaring that he "will no longer be complicit in genocide", a person familiar with the matter told The Associated Press.
The man, whose name wasn't immediately released, walked up to the embassy shortly before 1 pm and began live-streaming on the video streaming platform Twitch, the person said. Law enforcement officials believe the man started a livestream, set his phone down and then doused himself in accelerant and ignited the flames. At one point, he said he &ldquo;will no longer be complicit in genocide,&rdquo; the person said. The video was later removed from the platform, but law enforcement officials have obtained and reviewed a copy.
The person was not authorised to publicly discuss details of the ongoing investigation and spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity.
Police did not immediately provide any additional details about the incident.
The incident happened as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is seeking the cabinet approval for a military operation in the southern Gazan city of Rafah while a temporary cease-fire deal is being negotiated. Israel's military offensive in Gaza, however, has drawn criticisms, including genocide claims against the Palestinians.
Israel has adamantly denied the genocide allegations and says it is carrying out operations in accordance with international law in the Israel-Hamas war.
In December, a person self-immolated outside the Israeli consulate in Atlanta and used gasoline as an accelerant, according to Atlanta's fire authorities. A Palestinian flag was found at the scene, and the act was believed to be one of &ldquo;extreme political protest.&rdquo; In a statement, the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington said its officers had responded to the scene outside the Israeli Embassy to assist U.S. Secret Service officers and that its bomb squad had also been called to examine a suspicious vehicle. Police said no hazardous materials were found in the vehicle.

The US Air Force said Saturday it was the subject of a “propaganda attack” by a previously unheard-of Iraqi militant group that falsely claimed it had launched a drone attack targeting American troops at an air base in Kuwait.
The statement by the Air Force's 386th Air Expeditionary Wing came hours after the group calling itself Al-Waretheen, or “The Inheritors," put out an online statement claiming that on Aug. 12, it targeted Kuwait's Ali Al Salem Air Base. The statement included a video showing a drone being launched from a stand, but offered no evidence of an attack or any damage done at the base.
The statement claimed the alleged attack aimed to avenge the US drone strike that killed a prominent Iranian Revolution Guard Gen. Qassem Soleimani in Baghdad in January 2020.
The air base is located a few dozen kilometers (miles) from the Iraqi border.
“The misinformation falsely stated an Iranian militia group used (drones) to carry out an attack on base,” the Air Force statement to The Associated Press said. “No such attack occurred.” The statement suggests the U.S. believes that Al-Waretheen is likely an Iranian group, though it described itself as Iraqi.
The Air Force added that the online claim “only aims to deceive their audience in believing a lie" and that the Air Force and Kuwait “continue to project air power throughout the region without disruption.” Kuwait, a small, oil-rich nation bordering Iraq and Saudi Arabia also near Iran, is considered a major non-NATO ally of the United States. Kuwait and the U.S. have had a close military partnership since America launched the 1991 Gulf War to expel Iraqi troops after Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein invaded the country.
Some 13,500 American troops are stationed in Kuwait, which also hosts U.S. Army Central's forward headquarters. Those forces have supported the U.S. invasion of Iraq in 2003 and later operations against the Islamic State group.
Kuwait did not immediately acknowledge the claimed attack. Its Information Ministry did not immediately respond to a request for comment Saturday night.
Kuwait's Al-Qabas newspaper, quoting anonymous “responsible” sources, called the claims about an attack “completely untrue.” Satellite photos from Planet Labs PBC analyzed by the AP since Aug. 12 show no apparent damage at the base.
A series of militant groups that analysts believe have ties back to Iran have claimed attacks they say targeted US troops in Iraq over recent years. However, those roadside bombings targeted Iraqi contractors supplying American forces in the country.
The claim also comes as what have been described as the final round of negotiations continue between Iran and the US over Tehran's tattered nuclear deal with world powers.

The US military has reportedly identified over 60 uses for flying vehicles. Some of the main ones include infiltration and exfiltration of special operations forces, rescuing downed personnel from enemy territory, quickly setting up bases in conflict zones, and transporting cargo and personnel.
Flying vehicles might end up playing an important role in conflict, especially in light of the Russia-Ukraine war. eVTOL aircraft might help the US military apply lessons from the Russia-Ukraine war. Russia is yet to control Ukrainian airspace despite having a larger air force. Ukraine is reportedly keeping its planes safe by moving them from one airbase to another.
eVTOLs would help protect overseas US airbases in a similar fashion. The flying vehicles would help in transportation from airbases which are under attack, or have been extensively damaged. eVTOLs would reportedly be cheaper, more fuel efficient, and easier to maintain than helicopters.

Indian origin man, Darshan Shah works as an aerospace medical technician at the Francis E Warren Air Force Base in Wyoming. He has been seeking permission for wearing tilak as a part of his uniform since 2020 when he started attending basic military training, Darshan was granted the waiver on February 22.

One of them was upgraded to Feihong-98 (FH-98), a large commercial drone that is a piston-driven autonomous biplane and took its first successful public flight in 2018. It has a maximum takeoff weight of 5.25 tonnes, maximum capacity 1.5 tonnes &amp; 15 cubic meters, flight height 4,500 meters, cruising speed 180 kilometers per hour, maximum range 1,200 kilometers, &amp; a takeoff &amp; landing distance of 150-meters. India&rsquo;s Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) recently commenced supplying the Army with &lsquo;Bharat&rsquo; drones for surveillance for troops deployed in the India-China standoff in Eastern Ladakh.
