46,790 new Covid-19 cases in 24 hours, tally nears 7.6 million

46,790 new cases of Covid-19 and 587 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours as India&rsquo;s infection tally went up to 7,597,063, according to the Union health ministry on Tuesday.

The number of recovered stands at 6,733,328 across the country and the recovery rate has gone up to 88.63%.

Active cases now comprise merely 13 per cent of the total caseload, the ministry said on Friday. The declining trend of the percentage of active cases is accompanied by the rising percentage of recovered cases. Recoveries in India have exceeded new cases for three continuous weeks and the recovery rate has soared past 85%, the ministry added.

The Union Health Ministry also said that India has scaled up its testing capacity from one crore in January to more than 7.7 crore in October, adding that India 'continues to occupy the top global position with the maximum number of recoveries'. India accounts for 21% of the global recovered cases, on the other hand, its share in the total cases stands at 18.6%, the govt said.

In a new advisory on 'post Covid-19 management protocol', the Union Health Ministry has recommended the use of Chyawanprash, Yogasana, Pranayama&nbsp;among others.
The govt advisory said, at&nbsp;the individual level, the recovered patient must continue using masks, practice hand and respiratory hygiene, and maintain social&nbsp;distancing.
Patients advised to drink adequate amount of warm water, if not contra-indicated, along with taking&nbsp;immunity promoting AYUSH medicine, prescribed by a qualified practitioner.
The order adds, that if health permits, recovered patients must resume regular household work and professional work in a graded manner.&nbsp;
It stresses on mild or moderate exercise, advocating daily&nbsp;practice of Yoga,&nbsp;Pranayama and meditation, along with breathing exercises as prescribed by treating physician. A daily morning or evening walk at a comfortable pace as tolerated, has also been recommended.

A record single-day spike of more than 83,000 cases has pushed India's coronavirus tally past the 38-lakh mark, the Union Health Ministry data this morning showed. This is the highest single-day jump in coronavirus cases reported by any country since the beginning of the pandemic. Over a 1,000 deaths linked to Covid-19 were reported in the last 24 hours taking the total number of fatalities to over 67,000. The sharp spike of 83,833 cases has come on a day when India tested a record 11.7 lakh samples. Total number of samples tested for Covid has gone past 4.5 crore, the ICMR said on Thursday. Covid caseload now includes more than 8 lakh active cases while over 29.7 lakh have recovered from the highly contagious infection. The recovery rate stands at 77 per cent.
