The&nbsp;unemployment&nbsp;rate in both, rural and urban India climbed up in the week ended 25 July, reversing the proceeds made in a week ago period, fresh data from the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE) showed on Monday.
The national joblessness rate climbed to 7.14% in the week ended 25 July as against 5.98% in the previous week ended 18 July. However, rural unemployment took a sharp upward turn to 6.75% from 5.1% a week ago.&nbsp;
In comparison, there has been a marginal rise in urban employment for the same period. Urban unemployment rose to 8.01 per cent in the week ended July 25, rising marginally from 7.94 per cent a week ago.
The situation in the country&rsquo;s job market continues to be tough as employment opportunities remain slim ever since the country was hit by the second wave of the pandemic.

All India weekly unemployment inched up to 14.73% in the week ended May 23 from 14.45% recorded earlier, as per data from the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE). The unemployment rate in India in May has been&nbsp;almost twice the rate recorded in early April (8.16%).
It should be noted that&nbsp;urban unemployment soared to 17.41% from 14.71% in the previous week&nbsp;but the situation in rural areas improved as the unemployment fell to 13.52% from 14.34%.
