Reflecting on India's financial evolution, Kotak underscored the historical reluctance of Indian savers to invest in financial assets compared to traditional holdings such as gold and land.

Veteran banker Uday Kotak has shared his thoughts and suggestions about how to propel India to become a $30 trillion economy by 2047.&nbsp; In a post on X, Kotak outlined seven pivotal strategies essential for steering the nation's economic trajectory.
Reflecting on the evolution of India's financial landscape, Kotak highlighted the historical hesitancy among Indian savers to invest in financial assets vis-&agrave;-vis traditional holdings like gold and land. He emphasized the pivotal shifts from bank deposits, UTI, and LIC in earlier decades to the gradual acceptance of equity investments in the 2000s, marking a transformation from savers to active investors.
Kotak's blueprint for sustained economic growth encompasses critical measures, including averting asset bubbles through comprehensive policy frameworks, enabling companies to access equity at a lower cost for productive endeavors, and addressing issues surrounding tax arbitrage and double taxation on dividends.
He also stressed the need to vigilantly manage low-cost leverage via derivatives, encouraging the corporate sector to transition significantly towards capital markets, and ensuring a conducive regulatory environment.

Notably, no reason was cited for Kotak's resignation.

Uday Kotak has resigned as the managing director and chief executive officer of Kotak Mahindra Bank, the bank said in a stock exchange filing on Saturday.
Joint managing director Dipak Gupta will be the chief executive until December 31, it said.
"Uday Kotak has ceased to be the Managing Director &amp; CEO of the Bank, with effect from September 1, 2023, on account of his resignation considered at the Bank's Board meeting held today and has become a non-executive Director of the Bank," the filing said.
No reason was cited for Kotak's resignation.
As an interim arrangement, Gupta will carry out the duties of the Managing Director &amp; CEO until December 31, 2023, subject to the approval of the RBI.&nbsp;

Veteran banker and CEO of Kotak Mahindra Bank reacted to UBS' takeover of Credit Suisse. Underscoring the importane of risk-return assessment, he said that this development was a signal for all bankers and stakeholders not to become obsessed with "size".&nbsp;
"Credit Suisse sold to UBS for 3 bn $. 60%discount to stock value at Friday closing. ~600 bn $ balance sheet sold for 3 bn $ equity value. 17 bn $ of AT1 bonds written off. A signal for all bankers and stakeholders, when risk return matrix is overtaken by obsession with size", tweeted Kotak.&nbsp;

Kotak Mahindra Bank's board has engaged consulting firm Egon Zhender to lead a global search to replace Founder CEO, Uday Kotak, according to a Bloomberg report. This has been done to expand the search to ensure it finds suitable candidates.&nbsp;
Internal contenders for the job include group Presidents and whole-time directors Shanti Ekambaram and KVS Manian. Kotak's son Jay Kotak is not a contendor for the job.&nbsp;
Uday Kotak has been leading the bank since inception and will transition from his CEO position by the end of next year after RBI's guidelines capped tenures for Indian business heads.&nbsp;
A representative for Kotak Mahindra Bank declined to comment, while a representative for Egon Zehnder didn&rsquo;t immediately respond to requests for comment.

Had Kotak informed our clients at the very beginning that it would be unable to provide IPO financing for the Nykaa IPO, our clients would have approached other financiers who were ready and willing to provide IPO financing to our clients for this IPO."All eyes on Kotak now as reports suggest a notice is being served to Bharat Pe founder as well now.
