The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday registered two separate cases under UAPA against those who allegedly celebrated the Pakistan team&rsquo;s win against India in the T20 World Cup.&nbsp;The cases were registered under section 13 of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act, 105A and 505 IPC.&nbsp;&nbsp;Reports said police have taken notice of two incidents&ndash; one at the hostel of the SKIMS Hospital in Srinagar&rsquo;s Soura and another at the hostel of the Government Medical College.&nbsp;Reportedly students pursuing MBBS and other degrees residing in the un-married hostel of SKIMS raised slogans and burst firecrackers&rdquo;.&nbsp;&nbsp;The police have also filed an FIR against the students residing at the GMC hostel, &ldquo;who were allegedly crying and dancing after Pakistan won the World Cup T20 match against India&rdquo;.&nbsp;A local news report said that the FIRs are still open and the accused are yet to be identified.&nbsp;

The arrested accused in the case include activists Sudha Bharadwaj, Vernon Gonsalves, Varavara Rao, Hany Babu, Anand Teltumbde, Shoma Sen, Gautam Navlakha and others.
The NIA in its draft chargesheet, however, has not mentioned the alleged "plot to assassinate Prime Minister Narendra Modi", which the Pune Police had earlier claimed. The chargesheet says the accused conspired to kill "public functionary, The Indian Express has reported.
The draft lays down 17 charges against 15 accused, including human rights and civil liberties activists, and they have been sought to be charged under various sections of the stringent Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and the IPC.

1,948 people were arrested and 34&nbsp;convicted under the&nbsp; Unlawful Activities Prevention Act in 2019, the Centre informed the Parliament on Wednesday.
Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai said this in a written reply to DMK member Tiruchi Siva's question about the total number of people imprisoned under the UAPA in the country at present.
The minister said that the figures were based on National Crime Records Bureau's 2019 report which is also its latest report.&nbsp;

According to the NCRB data 1,421 people were arrested and 35 convicted under UAPA&nbsp;in 2018. 1,554 were arrested and 39 convicted in 2017, whereas 999 were arrested and 24 were convicted in 2016.&nbsp;

The remarks are significant as they come amid outrage over the death of 84-year-old activist Stan Swamy in jail. Swamy was arrested under UAPA in the Elgar Parishad case last year and died last week in jail fighting for bail on health grounds.
A number of activists and students are currently languishing in jails on terror charges without bail.

Delhi Police on Wednesday filed a 15,000 pages long charge sheet before a city court under UAPA and other sections&nbsp;over the violence that shook the national capital in February 2020. Police&nbsp;named 15 people&nbsp;for orchestrating the riots that killed at least 53 people and injured hundreds.
Packed in steel boxes, 2,692 pages of the vast charge sheet specifies the charges against the accused.&nbsp;The police have listed 747 witnesses in the chargesheet. 51 of the witnesses have already recorded their statements before the magistrate.&nbsp;
