A delegation of Trinamool Congress lawmakers met President Ram Nath Kovind in Delhi on Monday to seek the removal of Tushar Mehta as the Solicitor General of India. This comes after alleged meeting of BJP&rsquo;s Suvendu Adhikari with Tushar Mehta.
Addressing a press conference after meeting the President, TMC MP Mahua Moitra said a &lsquo;certain BJP leader, MLA and Leader of Opposition (LoP) in West Bengal Assembly met with Home Minister Amit Shah at his residence and then proceeded to the home of the Solicitor-General at 10 Akbar Road on July 1. TMC accused Mehta of vioalting Bar Council&rsquo;s rules and professional ethics.

The Supreme Court Monday kept in abeyance its October 16 order&nbsp;appointing a one-man panel&nbsp;of retired apex court judge Justice Madan B Lokur to check the menace of stubble burning. A bench headed by Chief Justice S A Bobde passed the order while considering the Centre&rsquo;s stand that it is coming out with comprehensive legislation to deal with air pollution, including the aspect of stubble burning. The bench in response to the Centre said that the&nbsp;only issue is people are choking because of pollution and it is something which must be curbed. Loan moratorium 'extendable' by two years: Govt to SC

PTI, New Delhi: The Centre and RBI Tuesday told the Supreme Court that the moratorium period on repayment of loans amid the COVID-19 pandemic is &ldquo;extendable&rdquo; by two years.
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for the Centre and the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), told a bench headed by Justice Ashok Bhushan that several steps have been taken for stressed sectors and the economy has contracted by 23 percent due to the pandemic.
The bench said that it would hear on Wednesday the pleas which have raised the issue of interest being charged on instalments which have been deferred under the central bank's scheme during the moratorium period amid the COVID-19 lockdown.
The apex court had earlier asked the Centre and the RBI to review the move to charge interest on deferred EMIs during the moratorium period.
