The rescue operation in the Uttarkashi tunnel collapse incident entered the fifth day on November 16.
The father of one of the 40 trapped workers spoke to his son, assuring him that he will be fine.&nbsp;
"My 20-year-old son Vijay Kumar is trapped inside...I spoke to my son a little bit and I gave him courage, assured him that everything would be fine and he would be brought out by tonight...food and water are being provided to them in small quantities," said Dharam Singh, the worker's father.
A heavy drilling machine was airlifted from Delhi by three IAF transport aircraft to replace the "failed" equipment which was being used earlier to create a passage for the workers.
Meanwhile, Indian American Congressman Shri Thanedar has urged the United States Agency for International Development to provide immediate assistance in the ongoing rescue operations

Efforts are on to rescue at least 40 workers trapped after a tunnel collapsed on the Uttarkashi-Yamnotri road.

Efforts are underway to rescue at least 40 workers who were trapped after the Silkyara Tunnel located on Uttarkashi-Yamnotri road collapsed on November 12.
The SDRF team is leading the rescue operation. A personnel engaged in the rescue work said that their team is removing the debris using excavators and other heavy machines.
"The work of mucking is underway. Mucking is being done with the loader &amp; excavator...Approximately 30-35 meters part of the tunnel has been broken. The incident happened around 5:30 am. We have information of around 40-45 people being trapped. Everyone is safe...," said Mritunjay Kumar, loader operator.
An official said that initially, they were not able to communicate with those trapped, however, they later managed to make contact.

A part of a four-lane tunnel under construction on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway in Ramban district collapsed, injuring four people and trapping several others, officials said on Friday.
A small portion of the front side of the tunnel at Khoni nallah collapsed on Thursday night during an audit, they said, adding that a joint rescue operation was launched immediately by police and the Army.
Four people were rescued in injured condition, and several others are still trapped inside the tunnel, the officials said.
Several machines and vehicles, including bulldozers and trucks, which were parked on front side of the tunnel, suffered damage, they said.
Ramban Deputy Commissioner Massaratul Islam and Senior Superintendent of Police Mohita Sharma are at the spot, supervising the rescue operation, according to the officials.
Those trapped inside the tunnel belong to the company conducting the work of auditing the tunnel, they said.
Several ambulances were dispatched to the location from Banihal, the officials added.
