Mumbai Police Tuesday named Republic TV editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami as an accused in the alleged Television Ratings Point (TRP) scam case. This is the third chargesheet filed in the case since investigations began nine months ago.
In a 1,912-page supplementary chargesheet submitted by the Mumbai Crime Branch in the Esplanade Court, police named seven persons, including Goswami and Republic TV CFO Shiva Subramaniam.
An FIR was registered last October and two chargesheets were filed in November and then in January, against 15 people.
This is the first time Goswami has been named as accused. In the first chargesheet and a subsequent supplementary chargesheet, police had named &ldquo;Republic owners&rdquo; as wanted accused.
22 people have been named in police chargesheet so far.

After the Maharashtra government said that it would not take any action against Republic TV editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami and other employees in the TRP fraud case until further hearing, the Bombay High Court on Wednesday accepted the statement and extended relief to the channel&rsquo;s employees from coercive action until the next hearing on January 15.
Senior Advocate Kapil Sibal, representing the state government, told the court that it was only agreeing to no coercive steps due to the adjournment sought by Republic TV&rsquo;s lawyer citing a family medical emergency as it has found &lsquo;serious evidence&rsquo; against Goswami.&nbsp;
