A United Airlines' transgender flight attendant who made headlines in 2020 after appearing in a company commercial on diversity was found dead after sharing an emotional note on social media, as per reports.
On March 20, Kayleigh Scott posted about her deteriorating mental condition saying she was "taking her final breaths and exiting earth, and therefore, wanted people to remember her for the good memories."
"As I take my final breaths and exit this living earth, I would like to apologize to everyone I let down," Scott wrote. "I am so sorry I could not be better. To those that I love, I am sorry I could not be stronger. To those that gave me their everything, I am sorry my effort was not reciprocated. Please understand that me leaving is not a reflection on you, but the result of my own inability to turn myself for the better," Scott wrote in a Facebook post.
Confirming Scott's death, her mother Andrea Sylvestro also shared a heartfelt note remembering her daughter and the odds she fought.
Meanwhile, as per a report in The Independent, the cause of Scott's death is being ascertained.
Kayleigh was reportedly battling depression.

Kerala has got its first transgender lawyer in Padma Lakshmi who enrolled as an advocate with the Bar Council of the state on March 19.
State Minister P Rajeev shared on Instagram that Lakshmi was among more than 1500 law graduates who were given the Bar enrolment certificate.
A law graduate from Ernakulam Government Law College, Padma Lakshmi also aims to crack the judicial service exams, India Today reported.
In his post which has been translated from Malyalam to English, P Rajeev wrote said, "Congratulations to Padma Lakshmi who overcame all the hurdles of life and enrolled as the first transgender advocate in Kerala. Becoming the first is always the hardest achievement in history. There are no predecessors on the way to the goal. Obstacles will be inevitable. There will be people to mute and discourage. Padma Lakshmi has written her name in the legal history by overcoming all this."

The idea to open the 'Trans tea stall' was generated and implemented by the North East Frontier Railway (NEFR) to empower the community, its spokesperson Sabyasachi De said.

In a landmark initiative, the Indian Railways has set up a tea stall at Guwahati station which will be fully operated and managed by members of the transgender community.

The NEFR collaborated with All Assam Transgender Association for the initiative, he said.
The 'Trans Tea Stall' on platform number one of Guwahati station was inaugurated by NF Railway General Manager Anshul Gupta on Friday.
Talking to reporters, Gupta said that this was a "first-of-its kind initiative by any government organisation in the country".
NF Railway plans to open more such tea stalls at other railway stations in the region, he said.
Associate vice chairman of the Assam Transgender Welfare Board Swati Bidhan Baruah said that she was hopeful that more trans people will be rehabilitated in the days to come, under various government schemes.
The Centre had last year approved a comprehensive scheme &lsquo;Support for Marginalised Individuals for Livelihood and Enterprise&rsquo; which includes a sub-scheme for rehabilitation and welfare of transgender people.

A Des Moines television reporter announced this week on a newscast that she will publicly identify as a transgender woman.
Nora J S Reichardt of WOI-TV said that for a long time she didn't think she would be able to reveal her identity on air.
“I didn't know if there was a place and a space for me to do this sort of work that I've really come to love and enjoy, while also getting to be myself while I do it,” she said on the same day that she officially filed for a name change with the Iowa courts.
She is not the first reporter to make that announcement. ESPN journalist M.A. Voepel announced in a tweet in August that he is transitioning and would use male pronouns.
In an interview with a friend who is a former reporter for the station, Reichardt said she had thoughts about being transgender in high school. But she noted that her Minnesota hometown is rural and she “didn't even have the language to describe what I was feeling." She said that at work she felt like “I was someone I didn't really feel like” when she dressed in slacks and button-up shirts.
“A while after I started being on air, I kind of just reached a personal breaking point where I thought, Why don't I like the person that I am seeing every time I am going out in the field? Why don't I connect with that person? Why don't I want to be that person?'” Reichardt said she gradually came into her identity as a transgender woman over the course of several years and began a medical transition process in September 2021.
“To gradually come into a role where I am feeling more and more at home in my body than I really ever did before has been amazing to get to experience and share with people,” she said.

Khaled Hosseini, an acclaimed Afghan-American novelist and author of bestsellers "The Kite Runner" and "A Thousand Splendid Suns" announced on social media that his daughter, Haris, has come out as transgender.

She has taught me and our family so much about bravery, about truth. About what it means to live authentically. I know this process was painful for her, fraught with grief and anxiety. Hosseini concluded the post with a promise to support her in her journey as a family. &ldquo;I will be by her side every step of the way, as will our family. We stand behind her. The Body is now working on an 'Open competition category' for them as a part of their new 'gender inclusion policy'. 71.5% of members of the organisation voted in favour of the new policy that will now restrict athletes transitioned after the age of 12 to compete in women's events. The International Swimming Federation or FINA in its statement said that the creation of an open category will mean that everybody has the opportunity to compete at the elite level. The decision was taken after a group comprising of medical, legal and sports figures presented a report on the same. As per the new 24-page policy, an athlete is eligible to participate in a women's event who experienced any part of male puberty before the age of 12. While currently there are no transgender women athletes participating in elite swimming competitions, these new policies will open the door for those who have never experienced male puberty (androgen insensitivity) and those females who have had suppressed male puberty before the age of 12.

Uttar Pradesh govt has proposed a first of its kind voluntary registration for transgender people in the state, aimed at devising welfare measures for the marginalised community, according to officials.
The ministry has proposed a budget of Rs 200 crore for the welfare of transgender people by means of providing them education facilities, developing their colonies with basic amenities and rehabilitating elderly members of the community, official sources said.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had on April 18 directed state government officials to carry forward welfare measures for transgender people.
During his first tenure as chief minister, Adityanath had in 2021 formed the Transgender Welfare Board.
However, the first meeting of the board took place only on April 19 which was chaired by Social Welfare Minister Asim Arun.
An estimated 20 lakh transgender people live across the state, with most of them having limited means of education and survival.
Social Welfare Minister Asim Arun said the work will carried out as per provisions of the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019.  
The Act was passed by Parliament with the objective to provide for protection of rights of transgender people, their welfare and other related matters.

An estimated 20 lakh transgender people live across the state, with most of them having limited means of education and survival.

Uttar Pradesh&nbsp;govt has proposed a first of its kind voluntary registration for transgender people in the state, aimed at devising welfare measures for the marginalised community, according to officials.
The ministry has proposed a budget of Rs 200 crore for the welfare of transgender people by means of providing them education facilities, developing their colonies with basic amenities and rehabilitating elderly members of the community, according to a PTI&nbsp;report
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had on April 18 directed state government officials to carry forward welfare measures for transgender people.
During his first tenure as chief minister, Adityanath had in 2021 formed the Transgender Welfare Board.
However, the first meeting of the board took place only on April 19 which was chaired by Social Welfare Minister Asim Arun.
A PTI&nbsp;report said that an estimated 20 lakh transgender people live across the state, with most of them having limited means of education and survival.

Social Welfare Minister Asim Arun said the work will carried out as per provisions of the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019.&nbsp;&nbsp;
The Act was passed by Parliament with the objective to provide for protection of rights of transgender people, their welfare and other related matters.

While most insurance companies do not charge transgender people different prices, data is still a major issue, The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) asked all life and non-life insurance companies to set out their transgender underwriting rules on their websites in order to increase transparency. 
"All the insurers now are further instructed to publish on their websites the aspects of underwriting philosophy and approach with regard to offering health insurance coverage to transgender people so that the targeted population may have complete information on the philosophy that insurers adopt in this regard," IRDAI said.
Expectations from insurers
In the event of transgender applicants, insurance companies will be compelled to disclose how such health insurance proposals would be examined, risks assessed, and premiums established.
The goal of requesting that life, health, and general insurance companies publish their underwriting approach for reviewing health insurance applications on their websites is to ensure transparency and clarity for potential transgender policyholders.

This is the most precious moment for us because we waited so long for this day," Manu said.
