The oath of office was administered on Dhami by Governor Baby Rani Maurya at a simple function held on the lawns of the Raj Bhawan in Dehradun in the presence of a host of MPs, MLAs and functionaries of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and senior government officials.

Dhami was sworn in as the 11th chief minister of Uttarakhand. The oath of office was administered on Dhami by Governor Baby Rani Maurya at a simple function held on the lawns of the Raj Bhawan in Dehradun in the presence of a host of MPs, MLAs and functionaries of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party&nbsp;and senior government officials.

The fate of Uttarakhand Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat remains uncertain even as he met top Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders, party chief JP Nadda and Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday, to discuss the future course of action.
Some reports say the Uttarakhand Chief Minister has offered to resign from his post, in order to avoid a Constitutional crisis in the state. Tirath Singh Rawat took oath as Uttarakhand's chief minister on March 10, replacing Trivendra Singh Rawat. At the time of taking oath, Tirath Singh Rawat was not an elected MLA in the Uttarakhand Assembly and was a Lok Sabha MP representing Pauri Garhwal. He continues to be a Lok Sabha MP currently.
As per the Constitution, a minister or the chief minister has to get elected to the state legislature within six months of taking oath. The person can either be elected to the legislative assembly or the legislative council (in states that have two houses). 
In the case of Tirath Singh Rawat, he has until September 10 to get elected to the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly through a byelection. But amid a Covid crisis, chances of holding a byelection are bleak.

He will replace Trivendra Singh Rawat who resigned on Tuesday. Tirath Singh Rawat, the MP from Pauri Garhwal, served as the chief of Uttarakhand unit of the BJP from 2013 to 2015. Trivendra Singh Rawat resigned after days of speculation about a leadership change in the state because of non-performance.
