Woman leader assault case: Cong sets up probe, expels two

The Uttar Pradesh Congress has set up a committee to inquire about an incident in which a woman party member was assaulted by party workers for allegedly questioning the decision behind fielding a rape accused for the upcoming Assembly bypolls.&nbsp;The committee has been asked to submit its report within three days while two workers have been suspended from the party, according to party spokesman.&nbsp;Two party leaders, Deen Dayal Yadav and Ajay Kumar Sainthwar, have been expelled from the party. A video of the assault has surfaced on social media in which Tara Yadav was seen being pushed away from a stage before being physically assaulted by multiple men.&nbsp;

Yadav said: "I was thrashed by party workers when I questioned party's decision to give a ticket to a rapist, Mukund Bhaskar for upcoming by-polls. Now, I am waiting for Priyanka Gandhi to take action."
She protested over the ticket given to Mukund Bhaskar Mani Tripathi from Deoria in the November 3 bypolls.
SHO Kotwali Chandrabhan Singh, meanwhile, said: "A police complaint has been received. The matter is being probed. However, no case has been registered so far."

The judicial custody of&nbsp;actress Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Showik&nbsp;who were recently arrested under the&nbsp;NPDS&nbsp;Act has been extended till October 6th. The actress has filed a bail plea before the Bombay High Court, which will be taken up on Wednesday.
The judicial custody of&nbsp;Dipesh, Samuel Miranda &amp; Zaid&nbsp;Vilatra&nbsp;who were arrested for procuring drugs, has also been extended.
Rhea was arrested on Sept 8th after three days of questioning for allegedly procuring drugs for late actor Sushant Singh Rajput.

Metro resumes operations after 169-days hiatus

After being closed for over five months due to the COVID-19 pandemic,&nbsp;metro services are all set to resume across the country on Monday. Wearing masks will be mandatory for all passengers and thermal screening will be done at all entry points. The train won&rsquo;t stop at stations that fall in the containment zones. Officials also have the liberty of not allowing the metro to stop at all stations to avoid overcrowding. &nbsp;There will be alternate seating in the metro compartments.
The Delhi Metro services will be resumed in a staggered manner in three stages from September 7-12, with the Yellow Line connecting Samyapur Bali in Delhi to HUDA City Centre in Gurgaon and the Rapid Metro being the first ones to be made operational on September 7. Trains will operate from 7-11 am in the morning and 4-8 pm in the evening in the first stage. The Delhi Metro has taken a slew of measures to ensure least physical contact for riders when it resumes services, like an automated thermal screening-cum-sanitiser dispenser and lift calling system driven by a foot pedal. Only smart card or QR code users will be allowed to travel on the Delhi Metro.
The Noida Metro Rail Corporation has announced that commuters found travelling without face masks in the Noida-Greater Noida metro rail network will have to pay a fine of Rs 500 and those caught spitting will have to cough up Rs 100.
Lucknow Metro&nbsp;has decided to use UV technology to sanitise tokens for passenger safety. All stations also have AFC gates which automatically detect the metro smart card without tapping it.
In Bengaluru, the Namma Metro will operate between 8-11 am and 4:30-7:30 pm from September 7 to 10 and from September 11 it will operate from 7am to 9pm. Usage of token will not be permitted.
Metro services however will not resume in Maharashtra which is the worst-affected state by the novel coronavirus.
