In a setback to the ruling Congress&rsquo; plan to bypass the Centre&rsquo;s farm laws, Chhattisgarh Governor Anusuiya Uikey returned the file sent by the party requesting permission to convene a special assembly session. The state government had sent a proposal to hold the session on October 27 and 28 to introduce a farm Bill that would circumvent the three agriculture Bills passed in Parliament, sources said.
Governor Uikey&nbsp;questioned the need for a special session, citing the monsoon session that concluded 58 days ago. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said his government would soon respond to her objections.

Big blow to NDA, Akali Dal exits alliance over farm bills

The Shiromani Akali Dal on Saturday broke ties with the Bharatiya Janata Party, days after Harsimrat Kaur resigned from the Union cabinet over contentious farm bills.
"Recently Centre introduced three agriculture bills, which directly affect farmers, labourers and local traders. The ordinances hit the argricultural sector. I spoke in Parliament that we were not taken into confidence over farm bills by the Centre," Sukhbir Badal said.

SAD President Sukhbir&nbsp;Singh&nbsp;Badal&nbsp;said, the party was not taken into confidence before passing the three agriculture bills, which directly affect farmers, labourers and local traders. He added, Akali&nbsp;Dal&nbsp;had been trying to attract Centre's attention to the farmers' issues and the impact of the Bills but their efforts went in vain.

Punjab CM: No cases against farmers protesting agri bills

Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on Wednesday appealed to farmers not to stop traffic or violate Section 144 in the state over the agriculture bills introduced by the government in the ongoing monsoon session of Parliament. However, he made it clear that no cases would be registered against the protesting farmers as they were fighting for their lives. After submitting a memorandum against the anti-farmer Bills on behalf of the Punjab Congress to the Governor, he said that the FIRs already registered against farmers would be withdrawn. He added that the Centre's legislations would ruin Punjab&rsquo;s agriculture, which was the backbone of its economy. Meanwhile, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) chief Sukhbir Badal has said they would vote against the three agriculture bills listed for Wednesday in the parliament.
