Actor-filmmaker Rishab Shetty was awarded the Most Promising Actor award for his Kannada film &lsquo;Kantara&rsquo;. Varun Dhawan won the Critics Best Actor award for his film &lsquo;Bhediya&rsquo;.
Alia Bhatt received the Best Actress award for &lsquo;Gangubai Kathiawadi&rsquo; and her actor, husband Ranbir Kapoor won Best Actor award for &lsquo;Brahmastra&rsquo;
Veteran actor Rekha was honoured with an award for her &lsquo;Outstanding Contribution In The Film Industry&rsquo; and Hariharan won an award for &lsquo;Outstanding Contribution In The Music Industry&rsquo;. In the television category, &lsquo;Anupamaa&rsquo;, starring Rupali Ganguly, won the Television Series of The Year award.

Oscar nominees will be announced on January 24, 2023, and the final vote will take place between March 2 and March 7, 2023.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) announced a list of 301 feature films eligible for Oscars 2023 and Indian films &lsquo;RRR&rsquo;, &lsquo;Gangubai Kathiawadi&rsquo;, &lsquo;The Kashmir Files&rsquo; and &lsquo;Kantara&rsquo; have made the cut.
&lsquo;The Last Film Show&rsquo;, India&rsquo;s official Oscar entry, also features in the list along with Marathi titles &lsquo;Me Vasantrao&rsquo; and &lsquo;Tujhya Sathi Kahi Hi&rsquo;, R Madhavan&rsquo;s &lsquo;Rocketry: The Nambi Effect&rsquo;, and Kannada movie &lsquo;Vikrant Rona&rsquo;.
Documentaries &lsquo;All That Breathes&rsquo; by Shaunak Sen and Kartiki Gonsalves&rsquo; &lsquo;The Elephant Whisperers&rsquo; are also part of the list.
&lsquo;Chhello Show&rsquo;, &lsquo;<a href="https://www.editorji.com/entertainment-news/south/rrr-screening-tickets-sold-out-in-98-seconds-in-los-angeles-chinese-theatre-1672931991434">RRR</a>&rsquo;, &lsquo;All That Breathes&rsquo; and &lsquo;The Elephant Whisperers&rsquo; have already made it to the Oscars shortlists for four categories.
&lsquo;Chhello Show&rsquo; made it to the best international film segment, while &lsquo;RRR&rsquo;s song &lsquo;Naatu Naatu&rsquo; has been shortlisted in the music (original song) category.
&lsquo;All That Breathes&rsquo; is included in the documentary feature shortlist and &lsquo;The Elephant Whisperers&rsquo; in the documentary short category.
The contention list includes movies that can officially compete in various categories but this does not guarantee that they will advance in the final nominations of the Academy Awards that will be announced on January 24.

The Boycott Bollywood trend As the year came to a close, Shah Rukh&rsquo;s &lsquo;Pathaan&rsquo; fell prey to the boycott and cancel culture that dominated Bollywood cinema in 2022 with people claiming that the yet to be released film&rsquo;s song &lsquo;Besharam Rang&rsquo; hurts Hindu sentiments as it shows Deepika Padukone wearing a saffron swimsuit.
Another big ticket starrer that faced boycott call was Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor&rsquo;s Lal Singh Chaddha. Users on social media dug out a statement by Aamir in 2015 on intolerance in India and called for the boycott of the film.
Ranveer Singh&rsquo;s nude photoshoot Pictures that launched a thousand headlines. Ranveer Singh&rsquo;s nude photoshoot for Paper magazine was embroiled in a controversy for days. While some people appreciated the actor, some accused him of obscenity hurting the sentiments of women. An FIR was also filed against the actor. However, the actor defended himself by saying that one of the photos being circulated was &lsquo;morphed and not a part of the photoshoot.&rsquo;
Sajid Khan&rsquo;s participation on &lsquo;Bigg Boss&rsquo; Salman Khan-hosted &lsquo;Bigg Boss 16&rsquo; sparked major controversy after it welcomed #MeToo accused, filmmaker Sajid Khan as one of its contestants. In 2018, Sajid was accused of sexual harassment by several women in the industry. Many of his accusers expressed their disappointment on social media and slammed the showmakers for trying to whitewash his image. Various celebrities, including actor Ali Fazal and singer Sona Mohapatra, demanded that the filmmaker be removed from the show.
&lsquo;The Kashmir Files&rsquo; controversy The Vivek Agnihotri directorial is one of the most debated movies of this year. Soon after its release, Anupam Kher starrer sparked a political row, with the Centre and the opposition having conflicting views about the film.
The Centre openly appreciated the film, saying that such movies &lsquo;reveal the truth&rsquo; and many BJP-ruled states decided to make the movie tax-free in the jurisdiction. However, the opposition criticised the Centre for &lsquo;promoting and endorsing&rsquo; the movie. Congress leader Digvijay Singh had accused the BJP of spreading hate by promoting this film.
Despite all the criticism, &lsquo;The Kashmir Files&rsquo; became one of the highest-grossing films of 2022. It was among the 15 films screened at the competition section of the International Film Festival of India. During the closing ceremony of the festival, jury head Nadav Lapid called it a &lsquo;vulgar,&rsquo; &lsquo;propaganda&rsquo; film.
Soon after his comments, the cast and the crew of the film slammed him and said the film represents the truth.
Later, Lapid apologised for hurting anyone&rsquo;s sentiments but stuck to his opinion about the film.
Bollywood actresses charged in Rs 200 crore extortion case Actors Jacqueline Fernandez and Nora Fatehi grabbed headlines after they were linked with conman Sukesh Chandrasekhar, who is accused of money laundering. They were questioned multiple times by the Enforcement Directorate in the Rs 200 crore extortion case and the agency revealed that the actors received several expensive gifts from Sukesh.
In August, Jacqueline was named as an accused in a supplementary charge sheet filed by ED in the case. Following which she had submitted a plea in PMLA court alleging that she was being falsely implicated by the agency while Nora, who had also received gifts from Sukesh, had been made a witness.
Days later, Nora filed a defamation suit against Jacqueline alleging she sought to criminally defame her in order to destroy her career to further her own interests, since they are both working in the same industry and have similar backgrounds, amongst other reasons. The matter is still being probed and Jacqueline is currently on bail, while conman Sukesh is behind bars.

Recently, Amber agreed to a legal settlement with her ex-husband and fellow actor Johnny Depp. Amber will now pay Depp $1 million over claims he physically abused her.
Will Smith slaps Chris Rock at the Oscars This year&rsquo;s Oscars made headlines after Will Smith stormed on stage and slapped comedian Chris Rock for joking about his wife who suffers from alopecia. &lsquo;Brahmāstra&rsquo; The Ayan Mukerji directorial starred Amitabh Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Mouni Roy among others. The film received mixed reviews from critics and the audience. The fantasy action adventure revolves around Shiva who is on the brink of falling in love with Isha but his life takes an unexpected turn when he discovers he has the power to control fire and a connection to a secret society of guardians. Released on September 9, 2022, the film earned over ₹431 crores worldwide, making it the highest-grossing Hindi film of 2022.
&lsquo;The Kashmir Files&rsquo; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; Directed by Vivek Agnihotri, the film is based on the exodus of Kashmiri Hindus from the Valley during the 1990s. It starred Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumar, and Pallavi Joshi among others. The film received immense love from the audience as well as the critics. It was released on March 11, 2022, and was declared a commercial hit. It earned around ₹340.92 crores worldwide.
&lsquo;Drishyam 2&rsquo; The crime-thriller, starring Ajay Devgn, Akshaye Khanna, Tabu, Shriya Saran, and Ishita Dutta, is the sequel to the 2015 film &lsquo;Drishyam&rsquo;. The Abhishek Pathak directorial sees a seven-year-old case related to Vijay and his family reopen. A series of unexpected events reveal the truth and threaten to change everything for the Salgaonkars. The film, which was released on November 18, 2022, has made a collection of ₹291.28 crores worldwide.
&lsquo;Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2&rsquo; Directed by Anees Bazmee, the horror-comedy starred Tabu, Kartik Aaryan, and Kiara Advani in the lead roles. The film is the second installment in the &lsquo;Bhool Bhulaiyaa&rsquo; franchise. The film shows how Reet and Ruhan&rsquo;s paths cross and their journey leads to an abandoned mansion that is haunted by a dreaded spirit who has been trapped for 18 years. The film was released in theatres on May 20, 2022, and it earned ₹266.88 crores worldwide.
&lsquo;Gangubai Kathiawadi&rsquo; The biographical drama, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, starred Alia Bhatt in the titular role. The film is loosely based on the true story of Ganga Jagjivandas Kathiawadi, popularly known as Gangubai Kothewali, whose life was documented in the book &lsquo;Mafia Queens of Mumbai&rsquo; written by S. Hussain Zaidi. The film was released in theatres on February 25, 2022. It premiered at the 72nd Berlin International Film Festival before its theatrical release. It has earned ₹209.77 crosses globally.

Surprisingly, &lsquo;Brahmastra&rsquo;, starring Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor, did not make it to the top 10 of IMDb&rsquo;s list. The Ayan Mukerji directorial is the highest-grossing Hindi film of the year, made on a massive budget.

Now, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees has issued a statement condemning his remarks and has accused him of hurting the &lsquo;sentiments of Indian filmmakers and technicians.&rsquo;
The statement from the organisation read, &lsquo;The FWICE strongly condemns the statements of Israeli Filmmaker Nada Lapid and seek immediate unconditional apology from him in writing. We appeal the Director of the Film Festival to oppose the statement of Nadav Lapid. We are surprised to note the silence of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting over the entire controversy. FWICE hereby stands with solidarity in support of all our Film Makers, Producers, Artists and Technicians associated with the Indian Film Industry.&rsquo;

Vivek Agnihotri&rsquo;s &lsquo;The Kashmir Files&rsquo; is making headlines after Israeli filmmaker Nadav Lapid called the film &lsquo;vulgar propaganda&rsquo; at the 53rd International Film Festival of India. Now, Abhishek Agarwal, one of the producers of the movie, has posted a message for IFFI jury head on Twitter. In his tweet, he said, &lsquo;We do not need your validation #NadavLapid we have thousands of people who have gone through this holocaust and I have met many personally seen their pain &amp; suffering. #TheKashmirFiles #KashmirFilesISTruth. @AnupamPKher @vivekagnihotri.&rsquo;
Actor and producer Pallavi Joshi also slammed Israeli filmmaker Nadav Lapid for his remarks. In a detailed press statement, Pallavi said that for decades the international community remained silent on the sufferings of the Kashmiri Pandit Community and after 3 decades, the Indian film industry finally realised that it needs to tell India's story truthfully and objectively.
Pallavi added that it is very unfortunate that a creative platform was used for a political agenda to preserve an old, false, and jaded narrative about Kashmir. She said they are overwhelmed by the way the people of India rose to defend &lsquo;The Kashmir Files&rsquo; against the rude and vulgar statements of a genocide denier.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the International Film Festival of India, Nadav said, &lsquo;I would like to thank the head of the festival and the director of the programming for the cinematic richness of the programme, for its diversity, for its complexity. It was intense. We saw seven films in the debutant competition, and 15 films in the international competition, the front window of the festival. 14 out of them had cinematic qualities, defaults and evoked vivid discussions.&rsquo;
&lsquo;The Kashmir Files&rsquo; is based on the killings and exodus of Kashmiri Pandits in 1990s. It starred Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty, Darshaan Kumar and Pallavi Joshi among others.

Actor Darshan Kumaar, who played a pivotal role in the much-talked-about film &lsquo;The Kashmir Files&rsquo;, has reacted to IFFI 2022 jury head Nadav Lapid&rsquo;s remark on the film. Speaking with the news agency ANI, Darshan said, &lsquo;Everyone has their own individual opinions on anything they see and perceive. But one can't deny the fact is that The Kashmir files is a film which has depicted the actual plight of Kashmiri pandit community... who are still fighting for justice against the brutal acts of terrorism. So, this film is not on vulgarity but on reality.&rsquo;
On Monday night, the Israeli filmmaker called the Vivek Agnihotri directorial &lsquo;vulgar propaganda&rsquo; that &lsquo;disturbed and shocked&rsquo; the entire jury. A video from the festival has gone viral online and his statement has received criticism from many people including the Israeli ambassador, actors Anupam Kher, and Ranvir Shorey.
IFFI jury has also distanced itself from Nadav Lapid&rsquo;s criticism of &lsquo;The Kashmir Files&rsquo; and said that it is &lsquo;completely his personal opinion&rsquo;.

Israeli filmmaker Nadav Lapid sparked a controversy after he termed Vivek Agnihotri&rsquo;s film &lsquo;The Kashmir Files&rsquo; &lsquo;vulgar and propaganda&rsquo; during the closing ceremony of the 53rd International Film Festival of India. However, the jury board of the IFFI has distanced itself from its chief. Sudipto Sen, a member of the jury, has tweeted the board&rsquo;s statement, saying the comments were Nadav&rsquo;s opinions and not a collective opinion of the group.
Sudipto wrote, &lsquo;Whatever has been said by IFFI 2022 Jury Chairman Mr. Nadav Lapid about the film Kashmir Files, from the stage of closing ceremony of 53-rd IFFI was completely his personal opinion. In the official presentation of the Jury Board to the Festival Director and in the official Press Conference, where we 4 juries (the fifth jury had to leave for her personal emergency) were present and interacted with the press, we never mentioned anything about our likes or dislikes. Both were our official collective opinion&rsquo;.
In his note, he added, &lsquo;As juror, we are assigned to judge the technical, aesthetic quality and socio-cultural relevance of a film. We don&rsquo;t indulge in any kind of political comments on any film and if it is done, it is completely in personal capacity &ndash; nothing to do with the esteemed Jury Board&rsquo;.

Naor Gilon, Israel ambassador to India, has called out his fellow countryman and filmmaker Nadav Lapid for calling 'The Kashmir Files' &lsquo;propaganda and vulgar&rsquo; at the 53rd International Film Festival of India.
In a series of tweets, Gilon said that Lapid should be ashamed of his remark on the Vivek Agnihotri directorial as it is &lsquo;insensitive and presumptuous to speak about historic events before deeply studying them and which are an open wound in India because of many of the involved are still around and still paying the price.
The Israeli envoy said he was &lsquo;extremely hurt to see reactions in India to you that are doubting Schindler&rsquo;s List, the Holocaust and worse.&rsquo;
&lsquo;I unequivocally condemn such statements. There is no justification. It does show the sensitivity of the Kashmir issue here,&rsquo; he tweeted.
The ambassador also accused Lapid of abusing the Indian invitation to chair the panel of judges and the trust, respect, and warm hospitality bestowed by them.
&lsquo;In Indian culture they say that a guest is like God. You have abused in the worst way the Indian invitation to chair the panel of judges at @IFFIGoa as well as the trust, respect and warm hospitality they have bestowed on you,&rsquo; Gilon said.
Gilon added that the friendship between the people and the states of India and Israel is very strong and will survive the damage Lapid has inflicted. He said he feels ashamed and wants to apologise to the hosts for the bad manner in which they repaid them for their generosity and friendship.
'The Kashmir Files' was screened at the 53rd International Film Festival of India on November 22. At the closing ceremony, Lapid criticised the entry saying the jury was &lsquo;disturbed and shocked&rsquo; by the film and called it &lsquo;inappropriate for an artistic competitive section of such a prestigious film festival.&rsquo;

The closing ceremony of the 53rd International Film Festival of India courted controversy after jury head Nadav Lapid called 'The Kashmir Files' a 'vulgar propaganda' film. A video of his speech has gone viral on the internet. Now, Anupam Kher, who played a pivotal role in Vivek Agnihotri&rsquo;s film, has reacted to the remarks on Twitter.
The veteran actor tweeted, 'No matter how high the height of lie is. .. It is always small in comparison to truth.' He also shared images from 'The Kashmir Files' and Steven Spielberg's 'Schindler&rsquo;s List'
Speaking with news agency ANI, <a href="https://www.editorji.com/entertainment-news/bollywood/anupam-kher-shares-video-of-vikram-gokhale-reciting-incomplete-poem-1669295466703">Anupam Kher </a>said that Lapid&rsquo;s remark was pre-planned.
Filmmaker Ashok Pandit also slammed Lapid's remarks and said that he takes strong objection to the language used by him. He said that depicting the genocide of 3 lakh Kashmiri Hindus cannot be vulgar. He concluded by saying that he condemns this shameless act of abuse towards victims of terrorism.
Ashok Pandit has also asked Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur to make Nadav &lsquo;tender an apology&rsquo; as he has &lsquo;added salt to our wounds&rsquo;.
Actor Ranvir Shorey also took to Twitter and wrote, &lsquo;the singling out of a film and the language used to describe it is completely unbecoming of a film jury or critic, and it reeks of politics. He said Cinema has always been the harbinger of truth &amp; change, not an agent to stifle or snuff it. Shameful display of political opportunism at #IFFI.&rsquo;
Israel's Consul General to Mumbai Kobbi Shoshani also disagreed with his fellow countryman and filmmaker Lapid. He said that he has watched the film and has a different opinion than Lapid.

At the closing ceremony, the Israeli filmmaker crticised Vivek Agnihotri's 'The Kashmir Files' on stage, calling it a propaganda, vulgar movie, inappropriate for an artistic competitive section of such a prestigious film festival.
He added that he was 'totally comfortable' to share openly these feelings since the spirit of having the festival is to accept also a critical discussion which is essential for art and for life.
'The Kashmir Files', &nbsp;which revolves around the killings and exodus of Kashmiri Pandits in 1990 from the valley, was also screened at the festival last week.
&nbsp;The film is one of the highest-grossing Hindi film of the year but it has been criticised by many for its alleged propoganda tone.
'The Kashmir Files' was even banned in Singapore since it was assessed to be 'beyond' the city-state's film classification guidelines. The Singaporean authorities reportedly refused classification of the Hindi language Film for its proactive and one sided protrayal of Muslims and depictions of Hindus being persecuted in the on-going conflict in Kashmir.

However, Film Federation of India’s choice was a huge shocker for the Indian audience and it sparked a debate about the film’s ‘Oscar-worthiness’. Many people voiced their support for SS Rajamouli’s ‘RRR’ and Vivek Agnihotri’s ‘The Kashmir Files’, saying they were strong contenders for the Best International Feature Film award at the 95th Academy Awards.
Well, what has left everyone wondering is whether commercial movies, that appeals to everyone, are not good enough for Oscars?
The Ram Charan-Jr. NTR starrer won the hearts of not only the Indian audience, but also received a positive response across borders. Host of Hollywood celebrities such as Russo Brothers and Danny DeVito praised the epic fantasy. The film grossed a whopping Rs 1,000 crore at the worldwide box office.
‘RRR’ was re-released in theatres across United States in June and a Hindi-language version of the film streamed on Netflix, and ranked in the top 10 most watched titles in America for nine consecutive weeks.
Three months on, ‘RRR’ is pulling the audience to the theatres in the US, and it’s available on various streaming platforms.
In an interview with Hindustan Times, FFI committee head TS Nagabharana talked about ‘RRR’s Oscar snub and said the story matters not the collection or popularity. According to him, ‘Chhello Show’ is a ‘narrative of a regular Indian reality, and shows it in a broader sense, while tugging the emotional chords’. 
J Hurtado, a film critic, who’s part of team that’s running ‘RRR’s theatre campaign in the US, begs to differ from FFI’s opinion. He said that when it comes to any major awards in the US, popularity plays a key role. Citing examples of ‘Black Panther’ and ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’, he stated that ‘road for popular films to winning Academy Awards is not unknown’. 
He said that India’s selection for Oscars has a ‘very dicey history’. He opined that it’s better to send out a film that has the best chance of getting a nomination and winning the award. He further added that ‘the whole point of that Best International Feature Film is to highlight a country’s best output.’
‘It has lit a fire under some people to not let it (RRR) be forgotten. This ground swell of support has happened. People are talking about. The team didn’t go out to these high-profile names and pushed the film on them,’ said Hurtado.
Hurtado explained that the SS Rajamouli’s film is very focused on the story it’s telling and the characters are very driven. 
‘The action is over the top, but it never seems extraneous to the plot. It’s very well designed in a way that the American audience appreciates because we don’t get that very often,’ he said.
He revealed that their focus right now is to get as many people as possible to watch the film in the big screen.
Variance Films president Dylan Marchetti, who is backing ‘RRR’s Oscar campaign, believes that this film benefits from the vibe an audience gives it.
The fans of ‘RRR’ argue that the film could have been a strong contender for the Oscars owing to its ability to capture the imagination of audience worldwide. 
Several members of the Hollywood fraternity and film critics have also strongly reacted to the FFI’s decision. 
Filmmaker Adam McKay, the director of Leonardo DiCaprio’s ‘Don’t Look Up’, called ‘RRR’s Oscar snub a ‘travesty’ and pledged to promote the film further. 
SS Rajamouli’s period action drama will be submitted to the 95th Academy Awards in all popular categories, including Best Pictures and Best Original Score.

With the recent Boycott trend which is all over social media, big films have faced calls for boycotts for one reason or the other. The hashtag trended almost nonstop on Twitter over the past few months with the target changing every time there is a film at the box office.                                                                                                Whether the trend has had any impact on films’ performance or not is questionable. But yes, lately several Bollywood films have not been performing as per expectations at the box office. Some claim that the technicians and crew workers are more negatively impacted by movie boycotts. The boycott harms the entire economy, according to Vijay Deverakonda, He recently made his Bollywood debut with 'Liger'. 'The Kashmir Files' actor Pallavi Joshi disagreed with the claims and said that everyone involved in the film usually gets paid, as long as the film goes into production.  In an interview with 'Hindustan Times', Pallavi Joshi said, 'Let me tell you one thing-no matter what happens, there won’t be a scenario where films will not be made. As long as films are made, people will get paid unless, of course, there is a pandemic again where everything comes to a standstill. But that is nature. But the film industry won’t be put under a lock and key. That’s a very Utopian thought. It hasn’t happened and will never happen.' She added, 'To actually say that think about those 250 people who work on our films and what about their livelihood is a wrong argument. They have already been paid. After the release, it’s only the producer, the distributor, and the exhibitor that get stuck. Actors, technicians, all the daily wage workers have been paid by then.' Pallavi Joshi was seen in 'The Kashmir Files', the highest-grossing Hindi film of the year, directed by her husband Vivek Agnihotri. The film was centered around the 1990s exodus of Kashmiri Pandits. The film featured Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty, and Darshan Kumar in prominent roles.

Bollywood actor Anupam Kher, basking in the success of his box office blockbuster ‘The Kashmir Files’ opens up about the ongoing debate of Bollywood vs south films. 
In an exclusive interview with E Times, Anupam Kher was asked about the need to keep a check on the audience's taste in making relevant movies. 
To which, he responded, ‘You make things for consumers. (Problem starts) the day you start looking down on consumers, that, ‘we're doing you a favor by making a great film. Now you are watching a great film. Greatness is achieved by a collective effort and that I have learned by doing films in Telugu...I just did another film in Telugu, I did a film in the Tamil language, I’m going to do a Malayalam film.’
He added, ‘I think over there, I’m not differentiating between the two but I think (their) cinema is relevant because they are not coping Hollywood. They are telling stories, over here we are selling stars.’ 
He also discussed the cancel culture and films meeting tragic fate at the box office, In his conversation with India TV, he said that it’s the choice of the audience to accept and reject any kind of content. 
The filmmaker should think about the choice of content inspite of ‘crying over the boycott culture’ He concluded.

In an exclusive interview with ETimes, the actor said that Hindi films majorly fail to perform at the box office because they focus on stars, while South prioritises content.

Filmmaker Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri is irked with director Anurag Kashyap over his recent comment on 'The Kashmir Files' Oscar bid. Recently, in an interview with Galatta Plus, Anurag talked about India's entry at the Oscars this year and expressed hope that the Vivek Agnihotri directorial isn't nominated for the Academy Awards.&nbsp;
'India might have a nomination in the final five if RRR is the film they pick. I don&rsquo;t know what film anybody is going to pick. I hope not The Kashmir Files,' he said. &nbsp;
Reacting to this, Agnihotri tweeted: 'The vicious, genocide-denier lobby of Bollywood has started their campaign against #TheKashmirFiles for #Oscars, under the leadership of the maker of #Dobaaraa.'
Now, in a conversation with Hindustan Times, Vivek said that Anurag's comment 'wasn&rsquo;t hurtful' as he has 'faced worse criticism'.&nbsp;
'These people have been running a campaign against me for many years. In this case, it was a wrong precedent. This is ethically wrong. You can share your preference, but why are you saying which film shouldn&rsquo;t go (to the Oscars)?,' he said.
The director said that he has 'never looked up to the Oscars', but he is speaking up because it's important to defend the film.He further listed a few points that made him upset about Anurag Kashyap&rsquo;s comment. He asked, 'If somebody is saying it (The Kashmir Files) shouldn&rsquo;t go to the Oscars, the first question is: Why is he so scared of the film? Second: Why doesn&rsquo;t he want the stories of Hindu genocide to be told to the world? Thirdly, is he a genocide-denier?&rdquo;

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Wednesday alleged that activists of the BJP's youth wing BJYM attacked and damaged CCTV cameras as well as security barriers at Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's residence during a protest here.
Activists of the BJYM led by its president Tejasvi Surya staged a protest at Kejriwal's residence here demanding his apology for allegedly "mocking" Kashmiri Pandits.
In a tweet, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia claimed that anti-social elements attacked and damaged CCTV cameras and security barriers at Kejriwal's residence in Delhi. The boom barrier at the gate was also broken, he said.
"The goons of the BJP resorted to vandalism at CM Arvind Kejriwal house. BJP's police instead of stopping them, took them to the gate of the house," Sisodia said in another tweet.
Delhi Home minister Satyendar Jain also alleged that the "attack by the BJP people took place in the presence of Delhi Police personnel during which CCTV cameras and barriers were broken." BJYM national Secretary Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga said the workers and leaders of the organisation staged a protest near Kejriwal's residence but did not resort to vandalism.
"We were stopped by the police and around 20-25 of our members and leaders, including Tejasvi Surya, were detained and taken to a police station. They were later released," Bagga told PTI.
The BJP and AAP have been engaged in a word of wars over 'The Kashmir Files' movie, with Kejriwal recently attacking the party and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the Delhi Assembly over the issue.
The BJP leaders and workers have been assailing Kejriwal and accusing him of "mocking" the pain of Kashmiri Pandits and terming the movie based on their "genocide" in Kashmir a lie.
