A weekend shooting in a Texas park left two people dead and six wounded, including two children, authorities said.
The victims were shot shortly before 11 pm Saturday during a Juneteenth celebration at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock, about 19 miles (30 kilometres) north of Austin.
An altercation began between two groups during a concert at the event and someone started shooting, Round Rock Police Chief Allen Banks said during a news conference at the scene.
The two victims who were pronounced dead at the scene were not involved in the argument, Allen said.
The shooting occurred near a vendor area away from the stage set up for the concert, Allen said.
Police officers and fire department personnel present at the event immediately began providing emergency medical care to the wounded, who were then taken to hospitals, Allen said.
Six people &mdash; four adults and two children &mdash; were taken to local trauma facilities, all with potentially serious injuries, according to a post on X by Austin-Travis County EMS.
Police said Sunday they did not have a suspect in custody and investigators did not know how many shooters were involved.
&ldquo;It breaks your heart for a family that was coming out to enjoy their evening and now their life is forever changed as a result of somebody who could care less about somebody else's life,&rdquo; Allen said.

The video of the incident shows Vella paragliding when the cords suddenly break, and he loses his balance. The clip shows him falling to the ground and crying in intense pain.
Vella reportedly called 911 and was then rushed to the hospital. He suffered a fractured neck, fractured back, fractured pelvis and a broken arm.
All the injuries will require surgery, doctors said. &nbsp;
Vella later explained that the crash was caused because he &ldquo;missed a small pension knot&rdquo; during pre-takeoff checks.

When teenage party-goers started trespassing into the property and damaging the house, the homeowner was called by his neighbours. When he arrived, he claimed to have found the front gate broken, television set smashed, liquor bottles and cans strewn around, and tools thrown through the sheetrock in the garage. Toys belonging to the owner's daughter were scattered all over the property.

5.4-magnitude earthquake hits US oil region in west Texas

A quake of similar magnitude struck West Texas last month. That Nov. 16 temblor was measured at 5.3 and had an epicenter about 95 miles (153 kilometers) west of Midland.&nbsp;

One of the strongest earthquakes in Texas history struck Friday evening in a western region of the state that's home to oil and fracking activity. There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
The U.S. Geological Survey said the temblor had a magnitude of 5.4 and struck at 5:35 p.m., local time. It was centered about 14 miles (22 kilometers) north-northwest of Midland, with a depth of about 5.6 miles (9 kilometers).
The service had previously issued a preliminary magnitude of 5.3 before updating it. In the interim, the National Weather Services office in Midland tweeted that it &ldquo;would be the 4th strongest earthquake in Texas state history!&rdquo; Geophysicist Jana Pursley at the USGS's National Earthquake Information Center in Colorado said that according to early reports received by the agency, the quake was felt by more than 1,500 people over a large distance from Amarillo and Abilene in Texas to as far west as Carlsbad, New Mexico.

A Facebook user posted the clip, captioning it, 'Smh, this is how these cops are doing these kids now in days'. The clip shows a scuffle underway between students as the police intervenes. One of the officers then proceeds to grab the collar of a boy and slam him onto a metal table. The boy gets back up however the officer who had left the frame returns and pushes the boy down. 
The reason for the scuffle is unknown other than that the students started fighting in the school's lunch line and the assigned officers intervened. A statement from the Irving police department says, 'The Irving officers used force to separate the students.' 
 'The Irving Police Department reviews every use of force to ensure policies and procedures are appropriately applied," the press note read. "We have seen video clips from this fight shared on social media and an internal investigation has begun,' it added. 
Further, the cops informed that the officer who pushed the student has been reassigned while the investigation is ongoing. On the other hand, the students involved in the fight are being referred for a class C misdemeanour of fighting in public, NBC News reported. 
As part of the investigation, the police are also speaking to the Irving School District as well as a family member of the boy who was pushed.

Indian-American Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi has urged the Dallas police to prosecute to the full extent of law a woman seen harassing and assaulting four Indian descent women in Texas last week.
"Such bigoted attacks motivated by racism, xenophobia, and other forms of hate victimise not only those directly targeted by them, but also broader communities through creating an atmosphere of fear and danger," Krishnamoorthi said.
Esmeralda Upton from Plano in Texas was arrested for the racially-motivated physical and verbal assault of the four women at a parking lot last Wednesday.
Upton identifies herself in the video as a Mexican-American.
"I hate you Indian. All these Indians come to America because they want a better life," she is seen saying in the video.
The video shows her telling the group of women to "go back to India".
"You… people are ruining this country," she says in the video which has now gone viral, sending shockwaves among the Indian-American community across the United States.
"I'm appalled by the footage of the hate-motivated harassment and assault on four women of Indian descent and urge police to prosecute the woman responsible to the full extent of the law," the Indian-American Congressman said in a statement. "As our country continues to combat the surge in anti-Asian hate since the beginning of the pandemic, I urge all Americans to come together and prove that our country and our people are better than this," he said.
In a separate statement, representatives of Indian-American organisations in New England on Sunday strongly condemn the recent act of anti-Asian violence in Plano, Texas.
"We are very disturbed by this and recently increased acts of violence and hate crimes against Indians, South Asians, and Asian Americans in general. We do commend the Plano Police department for responding to the incident with urgency and understanding," they said.
Asian-Americans, like all other immigrants, have made significant contributions to this great land despite facing ongoing prejudice based on accents, colour, religion, or perceptions of leadership or other abilities, they said.
"We believe in the fair treatment of all human beings regardless of age, education level, race, ethnicity, gender expression and identity, nationality, national origin, creed, accent, physical and mental ability, political and religious stance, sex, sexual orientation, marital status, socioeconomic status, veteran status, profession, or any other human differences,” the organisations said.
"We unequivocally and unapologetically condemn the divisive forces of hate, inequity, and injustice. We stand united in love and peace and stand against racist, discriminatory, violent acts against any community," they said.

Four Indian-American women have been racially abused and smacked by a Mexican-American woman in the US state of Texas who hurled racist slurs at them that they are "ruining" America and should "go back to India".
The incident took place on Wednesday night in a parking lot in Dallas, Texas. The woman, who has now been arrested, is seen in the video identifying herself as a Mexican-American and assaulting a group of Indian-Americans.

The mom is seen contesting the arguments made by the Mexican-American woman and requesting her not to make racial slurs. At one point in time, the Mexican-American woman, who says she was born in the United States, is seen assaulting the mom and her other friends as well.
"Everywhere I ... go, you Indians are ... everywhere," she is seen screaming in the video. "If life was so great in India, why are you here," she shouted while inserting the f-word and suddenly started assaulting the four Indian women.
Plano Police Detectives arrested Esmeralda Upton of Plano on Thursday afternoon. She has been charged with assault, bodily injury and terroristic threats and is being held on a total bond amount of USD 10,000.
"This is so scary. She actually had a gun and wanted to shoot because these Indian-American women had accents while speaking English. Disgusting. This awful woman needs to be prosecuted for a hate crime,” Reema Rasool said on Twitter.
This incident is currently under investigation by the Plano Police Department's Crime Against Persons Unit as a hate crime.
Groups in North Texas with ties to the South Asian American community condemned the attack and said they were relieved that a suspect had been arrested.
Urmeet Juneja, president of the India Association of North Texas, said he thinks North Texas has largely been a welcoming and safe place for people who are of South Asian descent, The Dallas Morning News reported.
”We are happy that law enforcement has taken swift action and arrested this person. Still, we also think that they should conduct a fair investigation and get to the bottom of the matter and take this hate crime investigation to its conclusion,” Juneja said.
“The events in Plano remind me of stories my parents and their friends told me over and over in the wake of 9/11 — of fellow Americans seeing them as others and enemies,” said Saatvik Ahluwalia, a spokesman for Asian Texans for Justice was quoted as saying by the report.
Chanda Parbhoo, executive director of South Asian American Voter Engagement of Texas, said in a statement: ”While we are relieved our community members are safe, listening to their cries for help from the verbal, physical, and racist abuse this woman was unleashing in that dark parking lot is infuriating.”
