Markets give up gaining streak: Sensex tanks over 1000 points

After a ten-day gaining streak , a selloff in IT and financial stocks pulled the markets lower on Thursday. Sensex &amp; Nifty erased nearly 40% of gains seen in previous ten sessions. The Sensex closed 1,066.33 points or 2.61 per cent lower at 39,728.41, while the Nifty settled at 11,680.35 for the day, down 2.43 per cent from its previous close. Record number of new COVID-19 infections in parts of Europe spooked investors across the globe. 47 Nifty stocks closed in the red with Bajaj Finance, Tech Mahindra, ICICI Bank being the top losers.

Manchester City star footballer tests positive for Covid-19

The midfielder is the 3rd Manchester City player to test positive for Covid-19

Manchester City have confirmed that&nbsp;midfielder Ilkay Gundogan has tested positive for Covid-19 and is currently in a ten-day period of self-isolation.&nbsp;The Germany international missed Monday night's English Premier League game against the Wolves and will also sit out of the&nbsp;Carabao Cup game against Bournemouth on Thursday. The 29-year-old is also expected to miss Sunday's league match against Leicester City.&nbsp;Gundogan is the third City player to test positive for the virus, with&nbsp;&nbsp;Aymeric Laporte and Riyad Mahrez, who returned to training last week after their own periods of self-isolation.
