Bihar Cabinet Expansion : The two-member Bihar Cabinet comprising Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and his deputy Tejashwi Prasad Yadav is set to be expanded on Tuesday, when close to 30 members will be inducted from different constituents of the 'Mahagathbandhan' (Grand Alliance).
The swearing in will take place at 11.30 am inside the <a href="https://www.editorji.com/india-news/maharashtra-crisis-all-eyes-on-raj-bhavan-devendra-fadnavis-to-be-cm-again-1656564706837">Raj Bhavan</a>, highly placed sources said.
Among the invitees could be RJD supremo Lalu Prasad who was expected to arrive here on Monday night, though party sources now claim he will be arriving on Tuesday by a morning flight.
The state cabinet can have up to 36 ministers, including the chief minister. The induction of ministers on Tuesday is expected to keep a few berths vacant for future expansion.
An in-principle agreement has been reached that the RJD, which is the largest party in the state assembly, will have a lion's share of ministerial berths, followed by Kumar's JD(U).
Congress state in-charge Bhakt Charan Das has said that the party is tipped to get three ministerial berths, two of which will be filled on Tuesday.
According to Congress sources who did not wish to be named, Afaque Alam and Murari Gautam have been handpicked as part of the party's strategy to back a Muslim and a Dalit.
Earlier, the names of Shakil Ahmed Khan, an AICC secretary and one of the most vocal MLAs, besides Rajesh Ram, were doing the rounds.
From the RJD camp, there seems to be little doubt over the induction of <a href="https://www.editorji.com/india-news/lalu-s-son-tej-pratap-to-release-videos-of-abuse-suffered-in-marriage-1658304236860">Tej Pratap Yadav</a>, the maverick elder son of Lalu Prasad. Along expected lines, the party is likely to allot a number of berths to those from the Yadav caste, who form its core base.
Others in contention include national general secretary Alok Mehta and young MLA Sudhakar Singh, whose father Jagadanand Singh is currently the state president and enjoys the respect of <a href="https://www.editorji.com/india-news/nitish-kumar-resigns-as-bihar-chief-minister-1660041035033">Tejashwi Yadav</a>.

The JD(U) is likely to retain most of its ministers in the previous NDA government including Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Ashok Choudhary, Bijendra Yadav, Shravan Kumar and Leshi Singh.
It may drop a few who may have been deemed to be close to the BJP and former JD(U) president RCP Singh, accused of trying to split the party at the ex-ally's behest.
In addition, Hindustani Awam Morcha's Santosh Suman is also likely to return as a minister. The party, founded by his father and former CM Jitan Ram Manhi, has four MLAs and it had quit the NDA expressing solidarity with<a href="https://www.editorji.com/india-news/nitish-kumar-no-ambition-to-be-india-s-prime-minister-1660301602665"> Nitish Kumar</a>.
The lone Independent Sumit Kumar Singh, whose late father Narendra Singh was an old associate of the chief minister, had been made a minister in the previous government and he is also likely to be sworn in on Tuesday.

RJD president Lalu Prasad’s mercurial elder son Tej Pratap Yadav, who is caught in a marital dispute, has threatened to wash some dirty linen in public.
Yadav came out with a video statement, nearly seven minutes long, fulminating against a news portal which had carried a report about his divorce case, apparently presenting him in a poor light.
"I can come out with countless video clips and other evidence to prove the physical and verbal abuse suffered by me, my parents and my siblings," said Yadav who claimed to have “maintained silence” ever since he filed a petition seeking divorce four years ago.
The maverick RJD MLA had tied the knot with Aishwarya Rai, a granddaughter of late former chief minister Daroga Prasad Rai, in May 2018. Their union lasted for less than six months.
Aishwarya stayed on at the house of mother-in-law Rabri Devi, a former CM herself, in an apparent bid to save her marriage before storming out on a rainy winter night, alleging before a posse of journalists that she had been driven out.
Her father Chandrika Rai vowed to avenge the insult "politically" and quit the RJD to join Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s JD(U), but failed to retain his pocket borough Parsa assembly seat in 2020.
Yadav, who remains in news for his mood swings with close party aides and family members at the receiving end, alleged that "the RSS" and "the other side" in his divorce case were hatching a conspiracy to malign him.
"I too have evidences which I have not shared because these involve a young woman (ladki) which makes the matter sentimental (sic)," said Yadav and warned that he might pull no punches if the smear campaign did not end.
In the video statement released on Tuesday, he also urged media outlets to abide by a family court order restraining journalists from reporting the divorce case proceedings.

Kumar raked up the issue of former minister Chandrika Rai's daughter Aishwarya Rai, estranged wife of RJD president Lalu Prasads elder son Tej Pratap Yadav.
Their marriage has broken and the matter is pending in a Patna court.
Kumar also refered about Jai Vardhan Yadav, grandson of former union minister Ram Lakhan Singh Yadav.
Chandrika Rai and Jai Vardhan Yadav, both RJD MLAs and hailing from yadav caste, recently switched over to JD(U).
Kumar was addressing partys virtual rally named "Nischay Samvad" which was broadcast live through newly launched digital platform jdulive.com from Karpoori Thakur Sabhagar (conference hall) at the party office here.
The rally was also available on facebook, twitter and TV channels.
Thakur was a veteran socialist leader who served as chief minister of Bihar.
"I want to know what happened with former CM Daroga Prasad Rais son Chandrika Rai and his daughter Aishwarya Rai.
What kind of treatment was meted out to Aishwarya Rai.
"She is well educated. People talk on education and see what happened to educated people. This is a family matter on which I do not want to say anything, Kumar said taking an apparent dig at the RJD supremo and his family.
