Tata Motors Chairman N Chandrasekaran on Friday led the management and the company's shareholders in paying homage to the victims of the Air India plane crash by observing a one-minute silence at the company's 80th annual general meeting (AGM) here.
Chandrasekaran, who is also chairman of Tata Sons, stated that the Tata Group will miss out its former chairman Ratan Tata, who died last year.
This was the first AGM of a Tata Group company that Chandrasekaran has attended since the June 12 plane crash.
He had not attended the AGMs of two other group companies -- TCS and TCPL -- which took place earlier this week.

"While TTMT would also be impacted by the overall sluggishness, we believe new launches incl. Curvv (forms 10 per cent of dealer volumes in some markets, as per checks) and relatively lower inventories would help it post better-than-industry performance (we build in 6% volume CAGR over FY24-27E)," the domestic brokerage said.
"While the overall growth expectations are modest, we expect profitability to sustain, driven by mix and cost actions with the deleveraging journey also on track (net debt free in FY25E)," Emkay Global said.

Tata Motors is planning to separate its vehicle financing subsidiaries that operate under Tata Motors Finance and merge it with Tata Capital to streamline its operations and deleverage its balance sheet, reported The Economic Times. This also comes at a time, when Tata Capital is planning an IPO by the end of this year.
<h3>Tata Motor's NBFC arm spin-off</h3>
As per The Economic Times, the process will involve a share-swap agreement. Group holding company Tata Sons will offer shares of Tata Capital to Tata Motors. This will give India&rsquo;s third-largest carmaker by volume a minority stake in Tata Capital.
The report further revealed that the valuation of Tata Motors Finance is estimated to range between Rs 15,000 crore to Rs 20,000 crore, translating to 2.6 to 3.5 times its FY23 book value of Rs 5,625 crore. A formal agreement is expected to be announced soon. Bank of America is reportedly advising Tata Motors in the agreement.
Tata Capital is a 95% subsidiary of Tata Sons and the flagship financial services company of the conglomerate. Its products include commercial finance as well as consumer, home, education, personal and car loans. It also offers loans against property, wealth services, private equity and the distribution and marketing of Tata Cards.
As per RBI, Tata Capital Financial Services and Tata Sons are treated as 'Upper layer' non banking finance companies (NBFC) and are required to list by September 2025. Hence for Tata Capital, this recast is part of streamlining the financial services portfolio of the group under a single entity.
For Tata Motors it will help deleverage its balance sheet at a time it&rsquo;s rationalising its own operations by demerging the passenger and commercial vehicles businesses. Tata Motors can unlock value by monetising Tata Capital shares during the listing for a significant upside after the merger.
The gross debt will also be brought down for Tata Motors. About 35% of that is the net automotive debt (Rs 43,700 crore), providing clarity on the leverage. It will also reduce the drag on consolidated financials during the downcycle in commercial vehicles, typically resulting in higher provisions.

According to an exchange filing by Tata Motors, the demerger process is expected to take approximately 12-15 months, subject to necessary approvals from the NCLT. The company emphasized that it is currently awaiting these approvals before proceeding further with the restructuring.
Under the new structure, both resulting companies will be listed separately, providing investors with distinct investment opportunities in the commercial vehicle and passenger vehicle/EV segments. This surge marked a significant milestone for the company, which had last posted a net profit of ₹3,043 crore during the same period a year ago, signalling a remarkable turnaround.
The stellar financial performance was underlined by a 25% year-on-year increase in revenue, amounting to ₹1,10,600 crore for the third quarter of the fiscal year. In a statement released on Friday, Tata Motors expressed confidence in the future, stating, "We remain positive on all three auto businesses. We expect the performance to further improve in Q4 (March quarter) on account of seasonality, new launches, and improving supplies at JLR."

Tata Motors on Tuesday became the country's most valuable auto company by market capitalisation, combining the company's valuation as well as the DVR shares, racing past Maruti Suzuki India.
Shares of Tata Motors climbed 2.19 per cent to settle at Rs 859.25 apiece on the BSE. During the day, it jumped 5.40 per cent to reach its 52-week high of Rs 886.30.
Tata Motors Ltd - DVR stock gained 1.63 per cent to Rs 572.65.
However, shares of Maruti dipped 0.36 per cent to Rs 9,957.25.

Tata Motors will get ₹766 crore compensation for losses due to shifting the Nano plant away from Singur.

Tata Motors on Monday said an arbitral tribunal has asked the West Bengal Industrial Development Corp to pay the company Rs 766 crore compensation in connection with losses incurred on its manufacturing site in Singur.
Tata Motors had to shift its plant to produce small car Nano from Singur in West Bengal to Sanand in Gujarat in October 2008 due to a land row. Tatas, by then, had already put over Rs 1,000 crore in Singur.
In a regulatory filing, the auto major said a three-member Arbitral Tribunal has ruled that the company is entitled to recover from the respondent West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation Ltd (WBIDC) a sum of Rs 765.78 crore with interest thereon 11 per cent per annum from September 1, 2016, till actual recovery thereof.
The compensation is in respect to the auto major's claim of compensation from WBIDC under various heads, including the loss of capital investments with regard to the automobile manufacturing facility at Singur.
"This is to inform that the aforesaid pending Arbitral proceedings before a three-member Arbitral Tribunal has now been finally disposed of by a unanimous award dated October 30, 2023, in favour of Tata Motors," the Mumbai-based auto major said.
Tata Motors has also been held to be entitled to recover from the respondent (WBIDC) a sum of Rs 1 crore towards the cost of the proceedings, it added.
"With the making of the final arbitral award as mentioned above, the Arbitral proceedings have come to an end," it added.
In June 2010, Tata Motors inaugurated a new plant in Sanand to produce Nano, which it has ceased to sell now.
The inauguration took place nearly two years after it was forced to shift the plant out of West Bengal due to the land row.
The Sanand plant was inaugurated by the then-Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and Tata Group Chairman Ratan Tata.
Ratan Tata's dream of making a car costing only Rs 1 lakh had to face many challenges -- both technical and political -- ever since it was conceived in 2003.
Amid opposition from the Trinamool Congress against the plant, Tatas shifted the manufacturing base of Nano from Singur to Sanand in October 2008.

The company will increase prices of its passenger vehicles (including EVs) by an average of 0.6 per cent across models and variants, Tata Motors said in a statement.
The price increase is to offset the residual impact of past input costs, it added.
The auto major noted that it will offer price protection to bookings made up to July 16, 2023 and deliveries up to July 31, 2023.
Tata Motors posts 1% rise in its June sales Tata Motors on Saturday reported a 1% rise in total domestic sales at 80,383 units in June 2023 as against 79,606 units in the year-ago month.
Domestic passenger vehicle sales, including electric vehicles, were at 47,235 units as compared to 45,197 units in the same month a year ago, a growth of 5 per cent, Tata Motors said in a statement.
Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd Managing Director Shailesh Chandra said the passenger vehicle industry in Q1 FY24 witnessed a robust demand driven by new launches, especially in the SUV segment and EVs.
"Tata Motors continued its growth trajectory registering quarterly sales of 1,40,450 units in Q1 FY24 and recording a growth of 8 per cent over Q1 FY23," he added.
In the EV segment, he said the company posted its "highest-ever quarterly sales of 19,346 in Q1 FY24, registering a growth of 105 per cent over Q1 FY23".
"This growth is driven by a strong market response to Tiago EV while demand for other EVs was sustained," Chandra said.&nbsp;

Markets regulator SEBI has approved the Initial Public Offering (IPO) of Tata technologies, a subsidiary of Tata Motors. This would be the first public issue from the Tata Group after nearly two decades. The last IPO from the group was Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) in 2004.
The group had applied for the IPO to SEBI in March. As per the Economic Times, the issue is completely an offer for sale (OFS) under which the selling shareholders will offload up to 9.57 crore units representing 23.6% of its paid-up share capital. Paid up share capital is the sum of money a company gets from shareholders when it sells shares to them.
Tata technologies, a subsidiary of Tata Motors, is a engineering services firm that provides product development and digital engineering solutions focused on manufacturing led verticals.&nbsp;

Fuelled by rising domestic demand, pricing actions and easing supply chain issues, Tata Motors reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 5,408 crore in the March quarter and aims to improve the profit margins this fiscal despite headwinds.
After driving into the profitability lane, the homegrown auto maker expects to continue new product launches, debottleneck capacities and push EV penetration further to deliver "market-beating growth in coming years".
The company had posted a consolidated net loss of Rs 1,033 crore in the January-March quarter of 2021-22 fiscal, Tata Motors said in a regulatory filing on Friday.
Easing inflation, better mix, pricing actions and favourable operating leverage also resulted in strong improvements in margins and profits, the company stated.
Total revenue from operations stood at Rs 1,05,932 crore in the fourth quarter, as against Rs 78,439 crore in the year-ago period, it added.
On a standalone basis, the automaker reported a net profit of Rs 2,696 crore for the period under review, as against Rs 413 crore in the fourth quarter of 2022-22.

Tata Motors said it will increase prices of its passenger vehicles from May 1 to partially offset increase in input costs.
The weighted average increase will be 0.6 per cent, depending on the variant and model, Tata Motors said in a statement.
This will be the second price hike by the company for its PVs after it had increased in February.
"Tata Motors has been absorbing a significant portion of the increased costs on account of regulatory changes and rise in overall input costs and is hence compelled to pass on some proportion through this hike," it said.
The company sells a range of passenger vehicles, including cars such as Tiago, Tigor and Altroz; and SUVs such as Punch, Nexon, Harrier and Safari, with prices ranging from Rs 5.54 lakh and Rs 25 lakh.
Earlier in February this year, the company had increased prices across its internal combustion engine (ICE) portfolio of passenger vehicles at an average of 1.2 per cent.

Tata&nbsp;Group may be gearing to takeover Ford's plant in Tamil Nadu as per reports citing unnamed govt officials. The speculation rose as&nbsp;Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran met with Tamil Nadu chief minister MK Stalin and state industries minister Thangam Thennarasu. This meeting was preceded by&nbsp;Tata Motors executive director Girish Wagh&nbsp;who had already met Stalin a few days ago.

Tata&nbsp;Group may be gearing to takeover Ford's plant in Tamil Nadu as per reports citing unnamed govt officials. The speculation rose as&nbsp;Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran met with Tamil Nadu chief minister MK Stalin and state industries minister Thangam Thennarasu. This meeting was preceded by&nbsp;Tata Motors executive director Girish Wagh&nbsp;who had already met Stalin a few days ago.

Ford's&nbsp;plant in Tamil Nadu has an annual production capacity of 2,00,000 vehicles and 3,40,000 engines. The US carmaker had invested more than $1 billion in the plant. Ford had decided to quit it's India production unit on September 9 leaving the future of employees uncertain.&nbsp;

Domestic auto manufacturer&nbsp;Tata Motors has announced it will increase prices of its passenger vehicles on an average of 0.8%.
This will be effective from August 3 and will depend on the variant and model.
However, the automaker will offer protection from the price increase to vehicles that will be retailed on or before August 31, 2021.
Tata&nbsp;Motors had recently said that it was looking to increase prices to offset the steep rise in the cost of essential materials like steel and precious metals.
Earlier, Maruti&nbsp;Suzuki and Honda also increased prices to offset the rising commodity prices.
