Earlier, off-spinner Sneh Rana dismantled the English batting line-up with a spell of 3/24 as the hosts were restricted to 142/6.
The three-match T20 series will be decided in Bristol on September 15.

Having lost back-to-back matches against South Africa in the 5-match T20I home series, India would look to stop the visitors to win the series in the must-win 3rd T20I at Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam.
The first two T20I under Rishabh Pant didn't fare well for India as their 12-match winning streak ended in the first game and they also failed to equalise in the second match of the series. The third match is a must-win game for the hosts as the visitors are already leading the series 2-0. South Africa cricket team captain Temba Bavuma has said that the upcoming series against India will benefit his team ahead of T20 World Cup in Australia later this year.
Bavuma in a virtual media interaction said, "The conditions in India don't accurately simulate conditions in Australia. In saying that, there's still a lot of benefit from playing. Any type of competitive cricket will be good for us." 
The 32-year Proteas skipper feels that even in the absence of star players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah, the Indian side is very competitive. "It's obviously a new-look Indian side. A lot of guys who have done well in the recent IPL have been given opportunities. From us as a team we wouldn't be looking at it any differently," Bavuma told the PTI.
South Africa last played a T20I in November at World Cup last year. The South African team has arrived in India and has started practising in the nets ahead of their 5 matches T20I series against India starting from June 9 to 19.
