A division bench of the Calcutta High Court on Tuesday allowed Leader of Opposition in West Bengal Assembly Suvendu Adhikari to visit Sandeshkhali village, which has been witnessing protests over allegations of sexual atrocities and land grab by some ruling TMC leaders.
The division bench presided by Chief Justice T S Sivagnanam refused to interfere into a single bench order that allowed Adhikari and another BJP MLA Shankar Ghosh to visit Sandeshkhali on Tuesday.
The West Bengal government moved an appeal before the division bench challenging Monday's order of Justice Kausik Chanda.
The division bench, also comprising Justice Hiranmay Bhattacharyya, directed the BJP leader to ensure that none of the supporters or people belonging to the party accompany them, except security personnel, who have been deployed for them.&nbsp;

Bharatiya Janata Party's Bengal leader Suvendu Adhikari courted a controversy after he made obscene remarks against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
While speaking to reporters on Sunday, Adhikari used a derogatory term to imply that Gandhi was an idiot while expressing his thoughts about the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, which is currently in West Bengal.
"Who is Rahul Gandhi? He says you should heat tea after putting coal on a stove. Coal on a stove? I have never heard anything like this," he was quoted as saying.
The remarks caused a furore in the state, with the Congress Bengal unit filing a police complaint against Adhikari on Monday.
TMC leader Kunal Ghosh also rebuked the BJP MLA for the usage of the offensive word. Sharing a video of the incident on social media X, Ghosh said that such "uncivilised and bad culture" must stop in politics and added that he strongly opposes the usage of such offensive words.
"Is this any language? What kind of language is Gaddar using to insult Rahul Gandhi," the TMC spokesperson posted.

The letter to the prime minister was written by TMC MPs Derek O'Brien, Sukhendu Sekhar Roy and Mahua Moitra stating that the alleged meeting between Adhikari and the law officer "reeks of impropriety". They pointed out that the BJP MLA is an accused in Narada and Saradha cases which are being investigated.
Mehta said that though Suvendu Adhikari came to his residence cum office on Thursday unannounced, he did not meet him as he was busy with other meetings.
"I requested my PPS to convey to Mr Adhikari my inability to meet him and apologise as he had to wait. Mr Adhikari thanked my PPS and left without insisting to meet me," PTI quoted Tushar Mehta as saying.

A case has been filed against BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari and his brother for allegedly stealing relief material worth several lakhs from a Municipality office in Kanthi.
The case was registered on the complaint of a member of Kanthi Municipal Administrative Board.
The complaint alleged that plastic sheets work lakhs rupees were taken away from the municipality godown allegedly on the direction of Suvendu Adhikari, and his brother and former Municipal Chief Soumendu Adhikari of Kanthi Municipality. PTI reported that Suvendu Adhikari's father Sisir Kumar Adhikari and brother Dibyendu Adhikari have been provided the cover by the ministry on the basis of a threat perception report prepared by central security agencies.
