Pakistan's white-ball vice-captain Shadab Khan is facing a three-month layoff because of a recurring shoulder injury that will require a surgery.
A source in the Pakistan Cricket Board said on Tuesday that the PCB's medical panel has advised the leg-spin all-rounder to undergo a surgery for the chronic shoulder problem.
"He is likely to fly to London for the surgery very soon and he will require at least three months rehabilitation," the source added.
Shadab, one of Pakistan's most experienced white-ball players, was appointed vice-captain earlier this year and played in the recent home series against Bangladesh which Pakistan won 3-0.
The source said that because of the shoulder problem, Shadab was now certain to miss out on the coming white-ball series in Bangladesh and West Indies and also a home assignment against Afghanistan.
"If the Asia Cup is held in September, Shadab will also miss that event," the source said.
The 26-year-old has appeared in six Tests, 70 ODIs and 112 T20 internationals and was recently also drafted in to play in the Big Bash this season.

The International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery has shed light on the number of surgical procedures taken place worldwide in 2021. Numbers from the data highlight that India is currently witnessing a major boom in cosmetic surgery.&nbsp;
Liposuction is the most common procedure and around 22.3% of Indians got this done. It was followed by Rhinoplasty (11%), Breast Augmentation (8.5%), Gynecomastia (8.4%), and Eyelid surgery (6.6%).
Other than this, the most common non-surgical procedures taken up by Indians were Hair Removal (31.6%), Botulinum Toxin (24.6%) commonly known as botox, Hyaluronic Acid (16.5%), Chemical Peel (13.2%), and Non-Surgical Skin Tightening (7.1%).
It is worth noting that the total number of procedures in India as per 2021 data was 774,672.
Meanwhile, compared to the 2020 statistics, total procedures in the world increased by 19.3%. The United States of America is the country with the most Non-Surgical procedures.&nbsp;
For the study, participants completed a questionnaire that primarily focused on the number of specific surgical and non-surgical procedures they went under in 2021, along with some ancillary questions related to the impact of COVID-19, surgeon demographics, and the prevalence of medical tourism.

BCCI has confirmed that wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant will undergo surgery for ligament tears in Mumbai.&nbsp;
Pant will be brought to Mumbai via an air ambulance. The 25-year-old will go under the knife at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital and Medical Research Institute.
His subsequent recovery and rehabilitation will also take place under the supervision of the BCCI medical team in the city.

 A 30-year-old woman in Kozhikode has filed a complaint against doctors for having left forceps inside her body while performing a caesarean on her five years ago.
Acting on her complaint, Kerala State Health Minister Veena George on Saturday ordered a probe into the incident and asked the Health Secretary to submit a report soon.
The doctors of Kozhikode Medical College had, on September 17, conducted a major surgery on Harshinia to remove a 'mosquito artery forceps' which was in her stomach for the past five years.
The forceps is a scissor-like equipment used by surgeons to clamp bleeding vessels during surgeries.
"Stern action will be taken against those who are responsible," Minister said in a statement.
The woman had undergone her third caesarean at Kozhikode Medical College in November 2017. The earlier two were in private hospitals, she said.
"After the third surgery, I began feeling severe pain. I thought it was due to the caesarean surgery. I approached many doctors...I thought either I had kidney stones or some sort of cancer," she told reporters.
Harshina said the pain was subdued using strong antibiotics but it became unbearable since the last six months as she was suffering from urinary infection.
"Apparently, the metal object was poking my urinary bladder and was causing infection. The pain became unbearable," she said.
After scans, the doctors of a private hospital suspected that it was a kidney stone.
"But after the CT scan, they told me that there was a metal object in my stomach. They told me that it was poking my bladder and resulting in urinary infection. Doctors used to give me heavy antibiotics to reduce the pain," she said.
Later, she approached the government medical college itself, and the doctors there took the forceps after a surgery.
Meanwhile, Kozhikode Medical College also ordered a probe.
"We have ordered a probe. After the preliminary inquiry, the medical college superintendent told me that none of their surgical equipment was missing.
The woman has had two surgeries in private hospitals before coming to medical college," Kozhikode Medical College principal Dr E V Gopi, told PTI.
After her surgery removing the surgical equipment that was in her stomach for the past five years, she was discharged in a few days.
Later, she approached the State Health Minister and the Kozhikode Medical College, and filed a complaint in this regard.
