Four COVID-19 patients died after a fire broke out at Ayush Hospital in Surat on Sunday night. Medical Officer of Health in Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC), Dr Ashish Naik said ten COVID patients were under treatment on the fifth floor of the hospital when the fire broke out. He said patients have been shifted to SMIMER hospital and confirmed the 4 deaths. In-charge Chief Fire Officer of SMC, Basant Pareek said a blast in the air conditioner caused the fire. As many as fifteen fire tenders were rushed to the hospital and the fire was brought under control within half an hour.

Surat to plant 70,000 saplings to mark PM Modi's 70th birthday

To mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 70th birthday on September 17, Surat&nbsp;in Gujarat is going&nbsp;green.
Civic body officials in&nbsp;Surat along with other govt officials are&nbsp;planting&nbsp;70,000 saplings across the city.&nbsp;The initiative began 15 days ago and hopes to complete the task by September 16. Organisers have urged citizens to join in, in a bid to boost the green cover of the city.
Saplings are being planted in open plots of the&nbsp;Surat Municipal Corporation and near water head tanks, among other areas. Once planted the trees will be looked after by different NGOs&nbsp;in the city.
