Nationalist Congress Party (SP) working president Supriya Sule, who is part of one of the government delegations on global outreach post-Operation Sindoor, on Wednesday said the ongoing fight against terrorism is not a personal or political battle.
Talking to reporters here, the Lok Sabha MP from Baramati in Pune district maintained the opposition must act with restraint and responsibility, and political parties should avoid creating any misunderstanding about the Indian armed forces.
"This is not a time to criticize one another because we are all Indians. The ongoing fight against terrorism is not a personal or political battle, but a collective fight for the unity of our country," she emphasised.
Sule said there was a clear consensus among all political parties that no one should send any message that might create misunderstanding about the Indian armed forces.
"We all stand with India. There should be no politics on this issue (all-party delegations on global outreach against terrorism), and there will not be. Since any issue related to the military is extremely sensitive, the opposition must also act with restraint and responsibility," the MP opined.
"While criticizing the government, we always maintain decorum, because our aim is national and public interest," she added.
The Centre is sending multiple all-party delegations to key countries to project India&rsquo;s continued fight against Pakistan-sponsored cross-border terrorism and the recent Operation Sindoor. The composition of some of these delegations had led to a controversy and criticism from a section of opposition parties, particularly the Congress, an ally of the NCP (SP).
To a question on the arrest of three family members of a leader of the ruling NCP for allegedly abetting the suicide of his daughter-in-law over dowry last week, Sule said, "This incident is extremely painful. The Hagawane family is a prominent name in Mulshi and Pune. Their grandfather had done good work in the Panchayat Samiti for many decades." "What has happened is shocking. Based on the information I have received from the police and media reports, there appears to be a grey area. Some say it's suicide, while others believe it's a murder," the veteran parliamentarian said.
She demanded a judicial inquiry into the woman's death, which took place in her Lok Sabha constituency.
"If such educated families are involved in dowry deaths, then where is Maharashtra heading? And not just one, but two daughters-in-law have been affected. This matter belongs to my constituency. A few days ago, there was a family event at their house, and I didn't attend it to convey a message because there was a complaint of domestic violence against their daughter-in-law," she said.
Maharashtra is a progressive state and such cases are unfortunate, Sule opined.
"If daughters-in-law are visiting police stations and court cases are going on, I cannot be seen supporting that family. The victim must get justice in this progressive Maharashtra. I am ready to fight whatever battle is needed to ensure that. Maharashtra's daughter must get justice," she asserted.
"This is a very serious issue. I have demanded a judicial inquiry into the matter. The state government must take strict action and ensure the accused are punished. I expect the government to take stronger measures to ensure women's safety and rights," Sule said.

Three-time Baramati MP Supriya Sule owes Rs 35 lakh to her sister-in-law and ruling alliance opponent Sunetra Pawar, according to the affidavit submitted by the former on Thursday as part of her nomination form.
Sule, daughter of NCP(SP) chief Sharad Pawar, is contesting against Sunetra Pawar, the wife of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, who heads the Nationalist Congress Party.
As per Sule's affidavit, she also owes Rs 20 lakh to Parth Pawar, the son of Ajit and Sunetra Pawar.
Both Sule and Sunetra Pawar filed their nominations for the Baramati Lok Sabha earlier in the day before the returning officer at the Council Hall here.
Sule's movable assets are worth Rs 38 crore, which includes cash in hand, fixed deposits with financial institutions, investments in shares, while immovable assets total Rs 5.45 crore.
Her husband Sadanand Sule has movable assets of more than Rs 114 crore, as per the affidavit.
Sunetra Pawar's affidavit mentions the Rs 35 lakh she lent to Sule. It also has details of Rs 50 lakh lent to Sule's mother Pratibha Pawar.
Sunetra Pawar's movable assets are worth Rs 12,56,58,983, while immovable assets are valued at Rs 58,39,49,751.
Deputy CM Ajit Pawar, who also filed his nomination as a back up in case his wife's nomination papers are rejected for any reason, has movable assets of Rs 13,25,06,033. His immovable assets are valued at Rs 37,15,70,029.

Patil made the remarks on Wednesday during a protest by the state BJP unit in Mumbai for seeking reservation for the Other Backward Classes (OBCs) in elections.
However, the BJP leader on Thursday said his words were part of a "rural style" of speaking and that he did not mean to disrespect women or Sule, who is the daughter of NCP chief Sharad Pawar.
"Whenever I meet Sule, we always greet each other with respect,” Patil said.
After the Supreme Court recently allowed reservation for the OBCs in local body elections in Madhya Pradesh, Sule, whose party shares power with the Shiv Sena and Congress in Maharashtra, had said she had contacted MP CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan during his Delhi visit, but he did not divulge what he did to get nod for the reservation.
On Wednesday, Patil, during the BJP's protest, hit out at Sule, saying, "Why are you (Sule) even in politics, just go home and cook. Go to Delhi or to a cemetery, but get us the OBC quota. Despite being a Lok Sabha member, how come you don't know how to get an appointment with chief minister." Taking a dim view of Patil's remarks, NCP's state women wing president Vidya Chavan, without taking his name, said a person who denied ticket to a sitting woman MLA and contested from her constituency is bad-mouthing an MP, who has been honoured with the Sansad Ratna award (for good performance) twice.
"We know you believe in Manusmriti, but we will not remain silent anymore," she said.
"He should learn to make chapattis so that he can help his wife at home," the NCP leader quipped.
Patil, who hails from Kolhapur, contested the 2019 state Assembly election from Pune's Kothrud seat, where sitting BJP MLA Medha Kulkarni was denied the ticket to make way for him.
Supriya Sule's husband Sadanand Sule also in a social media post criticised Patil's remarks, saying, "This is the Maharashtra BJP president speaking about Supriya. I have always maintained that they (BJP) are misogynistic and demean women whenever they can." "I am proud of my wife who is a homemaker, mother and a successful politician, one amongst many other hardworking and talented women in India. This is an insult to all women,” he said.
However, Patil on Thursday claimed his comments were blown out of proportion.
"My words were part of a style of speaking found commonly in rural parts of Maharashtra. At times, women in villages tell their children to go to a graveyard if they can't do certain things,” he said.
The BJP leader also said leaving aside the “cook” remarks, nothing else in his comments was demeaning or insensitive towards women.
“Similar is the case with the 'go to a cemetery' comment. The MVA government's failure to secure the OBC quota in civic bodies (elections) prompted me to say it. You will find many people using such words,” he said.
Patil also said that Sadanand Sule should learn about the village life.
"There are many such proverbs used in rural areas...My comments have been blown out of proportion. Even Supriya Sule has responded to my comments considerately, saying I have the right to make comments,” he said.

Pawar served I-T notice, says Centre 'loves us'

PTI, Mumbai:&nbsp;NCP chief Sharad Pawar on Tuesday said the Income Tax department has served him a notice in connection with his poll affidavits submitted to the Election Commission.
Talking to reporters here, Pawar said the Income Tax department has sought his "clarification and explanation" on some poll affidavits furnished by him.
"I got the notice yesterday...We are happy that they (the Centre) love us from among all the members...The notice was served by Income Tax after the Election Commission asked (it) to...We will reply to the notice," he said.
He was responding to a query on reports that his daughter and Lok Sabha member Supriya Sule, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and Environment Minister Aaditya Thackeray had received similar notices from the Income Tax department.
