Calling for regulation on &ldquo;web magazines&rdquo;, &ldquo;web-based news channels&rdquo; and &ldquo;web-based news-papers&rdquo;, the Centre told the top court that the digital media is totally "uncontrolled". The ministry of information and broadcasting further added that the digital media uses spectrum &amp; internet which is 'public property.' It argued that if print or electronic media is regulated any further, they would be incentivised to use digital media to put out their content.

This is the government's second affidavit recommending guidelines for digital media in a case related to private channel Sudarshan TV's show that claims "Muslims are infiltrating" government services.

In its affidavit in the top court in the case against Sudarshan TV over its anti-Muslims programme 'UPSC&nbsp;Jihad', the Centre has argued that there are sufficient guidelines and framework for print and electronic. In the Tuesday hearing, the Supreme Court voiced concern about the race for TRPs and "sensationalism" on TV and had said it would set up a panel to suggest standards for electronic media.

Sudarshan TV will not be able to air two episodes of its show&nbsp;&lsquo;Bindas Bol&rsquo; after the Supreme Court on Tuesday&nbsp;stayed that airing of the episodes that&nbsp;the channel promoted as a&nbsp;&lsquo;big expose on conspiracy to infiltrate Muslims in government services'. The two episodes of the show were to be aired on Tuesday and Wednesday.&nbsp;Terming it a 'rabid&nbsp;programme' 'without any factual basis', a&nbsp;three-judge SC bench observed&nbsp;that&nbsp;at this stage, prima facie it does appear the&nbsp;programme 'vilifies the Muslim community' while adjourning the matter to September 17. Asking can such&nbsp;programmes&nbsp;be allowed in a free society, the&nbsp;bench of&nbsp;Justices D Y Chandrachud, KM Joseph and Indu Malhotra said 'such insidious charges also put a question mark on the UPSC&nbsp;exams'.&nbsp;The bench told&nbsp;Sudarshan TV&nbsp;lawyer&nbsp;that&nbsp;his&nbsp;client is doing a 'disservice to the nation'.&nbsp;The apex court observed that revenue model of TV channels and their ownership patterns should be put in public domain on the website.&nbsp;
