Stand-up comedian Vidushi Swaroop's controversial comedy set on prostitution sparks divided opinions and strong reactions on social media.

Stand-up comedian Vidushi Swaroop is in the news lately as her set on prostitution has left internet users divided. A snip from her comedy set is going viral on the internet, in which, she is heard calling prostitution a "cool profession".
After this, several people started calling her out and said that it is not funny and rather it is insensitive. However, some social media users pointed out that people should watch the full set before coming to the conclusion.&nbsp;
Poet Kumar Vishwas also showed his disapproval and wrote, "In fact, this is not only absurd but also inhuman and cruel. This insensitive joke is just a glimpse of today's so-called stand-up presentations that constantly make fun of vulgar and cultural values. It is fortunate that no male presenter did this cheap thing; otherwise, all the commissions would have woken up. Shame on those who laughed."
It is worth noting that Vidushi uploaded the video of her standup comedy show on 'prostitution' two months ago. The video has so far managed to garner more than 4 lakh views.&nbsp;
Some internet users commented on her YouTube video and said that this is what a dark comedy looks like and she is addressing the childhood trauma of people.&nbsp;

Sitharaman further said, “More than 1 lakh women promoters have benefitted from this Scheme during its six years of operation. The Government understands the potential these rising entrepreneurs have in driving economic growth through their roles as not just wealth-creators but also job-creators.”Stand-Up India Scheme facilitates bank loans between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 1 cr to at least one Scheduled Caste (SC) or Scheduled Tribe (ST) borrower and at least one woman borrower per bank branch for setting up a greenfield enterprise.

Munawar Faruqui was arrested on January 1 this year for passing allegedly indecent remarks about Hindu deities during a comedy show in Indore on New Year's Day. Faruqui was lodged in Indore Central Jail following a complaint by a BJP MLA's son for making the alleged remarks about Hindu deities and Union Home Minister Amit Shah and it was only after a month that he was released from prison.
2. Kunal Kamra
Stand-up comedian and satirist Kamra faced legal trouble as pleas seeking contempt of court action were filed against him for tweets against the court and the judges.
Attorney General K K Venugopal had last November consented to the initiation of criminal contempt proceedings against Kamra for a series of tweets following the apex court giving interim bail to Republic TV Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami.
3. Tanmay Bhat
In 2019, comedian Tanmay Bhat, one of the co-founders of the now inactive comedy company All India Bakchod, landed in trouble when he uploaded a Snapchat video mimicking cricketing icon Sachin Tendulkar and legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar. It resulted in an FIR being registered against him by the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS). AIB, which was known for its comedy sketches broadcast through online platforms, had in 2015 landed in trouble over a "roast" programme featuring some prominent Bollywood celebrities.

Comedian Kiku Sharda of "Comedy Nights with Kapil" fame had to spend a few days in judicial custody in 2016 for mimicking Dera Chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim. He was booked under section 295 A of the Indian Penal Code (outraging religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious belief).
5. Agrim Joshua
In 2019, stand-up comic artiste Agrima Joshua received rape threats and was abused online after an old video of her performance in 2019 surfaced in which she made a joke about the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in the Arabian sea. The comedian had to later apologise for her comments.
