Odisha plans to invest ₹4,000 crore to construct stadiums in all 314 blocks, promoting traditional sports alongside mainstream ones in a bid to enhance grassroots sports culture.

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday said the state government will construct stadiums in all 314 blocks of the state to strengthen sports infrastructure at the grassroots level.
The state government has allocated over Rs 4,000 crore for construction of stadiums of various categories from village and block to district level. In every block, a stadium will come up on around 8 to 10 acres of land, Majhi said here.
He said apart from popular games like cricket, hockey and football, the state government was encouraging sports like Kho Kho, Kabaddi and handball.
He said the state government is taking all measures for the promotion of sports from the rural level and encouraging youngsters to actively participate in the initiate.
Majhi said Odisha organises the CM Trophy sports tournaments to attract budding talents.
The CM said this after watching matches of the 39th National Sub Junior (Boys) Handball Championship being held in Keonjhar.
The chief minister also attended the annual function of Mandalpat Nodal High School at Bir Kishorepur and visited a Gayatri Yagna at Kalatirth ground in Kenojhar.

After Covid-19 outbreak, CSK's camp in Chennai under scanner

As MS Dhoni's&nbsp;Chennai Super Kings battle the Covid-19 outbreak in their team in Dubai, their pre-tournament camp in Chennai has come into focus. The 5-day camp which reportedly was organised by CSK&nbsp;at the Chepauk&nbsp;cricket stadium on the orders of skipper Dhoni&nbsp;is under scanner as the area&nbsp;Triplicane&nbsp;is one of the worst affected in not just Chennai but the entire country. According to a report in ESPNCricinfo, many support staff at the Chepauk&nbsp;come from local lanes of Triplicane&nbsp;which is very congested&nbsp;severely affected by Covid-19. In July, the area was also a containment zone but the CSK&nbsp;management decided to organise a bio-secure bubble to host the camp before their departure to Dubai to play IPL. It is widely reported that many members of the travelling party including an Indian cricketer has tested positive for Covid-19 during the checks in the UAE&nbsp;and the team is under extra-week long isolation.&nbsp;
