In a fresh development, the Centre has recommended a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the death of BJP leader and actor Sonali Phogat. Her family has welcomed the Centre&rsquo;s move.&nbsp;
The Union Home Ministry on Monday handed over the case to the CBI after Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant recommended it in a letter earlier on Monday. Phogat&rsquo;s death remains mired in controversy since Aug 23.&nbsp;
So far, Sonali&rsquo;s aides Sudhir Sangwan and Sukhwinder Singh and three others have been arrested in connection with the case. Phogat, 42, died on the intervening night of Aug 22 and 23 in Goa. The police initially registered a case of accidental death, however the family alleged foul play into her death demanding CBI probe
&ldquo;Our family has been demanding a CBI investigation in this matter right from the start". The family suspects a "conspiracy" behind her death and only a CBI probe can bring the truth out&rdquo;, said Rinku Dhaka, Sonali&rsquo;s brother.&nbsp;
Besides, On Sept 11, members of 35 Khap Panchayats from Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh came together to support demands of Phogat&rsquo;s family.&nbsp;
Phogat&rsquo;s family&rsquo;s claims fell in line with the autopsy report that mentioned blunt injury marks on her body two days after her death.&nbsp;
It was then the police began to investigate the alleged murder of Phogat. During investigation a shocking CCTV footage from Goa&rsquo;s Curlies restaurant hinted at foul play. The footage showed Sonali staggering out of the pub holding onto one of her aides. She was declared dead hours later at a hospital.&nbsp;
It was revealed that Phogat was administered drugs by her aides. So far, Sudhir Sangwan and Sukhwinder Singh and three others have been arrested in connection with the case.&nbsp;

The Goa government will write to the Union Home Ministry, requesting that the case of BJP leader Sonali Phogat's death be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said on Monday.
Phogat (43), the BJP leader from Hisar in Haryana, died in Goa last month and her death is being treated as a case of murder.
Sawant told reporters in Panaji that the Goa Police have done a "tremendously good investigation" into the case and have also got some clues.
“But due to the demand of people from Haryana and also Sonali Phogat's daughter, we have decided to write to the Union Home Ministry to hand over this case to the CBI,” Sawant said.
“I will personally write a letter to the Union Home Ministry,” he said.
The Goa Police had arrested five people, including two of Phogat's aides, in connection with the case.
The police have booked her two aides on the charge of murder.

The Goa Police on Friday arrested two more people, including a club owner and a drug dealer, in connection with the death of Haryana BJP leader Sonali Phogat.    

The Goa Police said Phogat's drink was spiked by her associates Sangwan and Singh at Curlies and CCTV footage showed the BJP leader limping inside the pub, reported NDTV.

The Goa Police on Friday arrested two more people, including a club owner and a suspected drug dealer, in connection with the death of Haryana BJP leader Sonali Phogat.&nbsp;&nbsp;
Drugs have also been, reportedly, recovered by the cops from the club's washroom.
Phogat had visited Curlie's restaurant-cum-nightclub at Anjuna beach the night before her death.
Earlier, two of Phogat's associates, Sudhir Sangwan and Sukhwinder Singh were held in the case.
"The owner was arrested because drugs have been recovered from the club. He was arrested after questioning. The nature of the drugs seized is yet to be confirmed," the Goa Police told India Today.
The nature of the drugs, however, is yet to be ascertained.&nbsp;

The Tik Tok star-turned-politician was rushed to a hospital on Monday in North Goa where she was declared brought dead. The police had, initially, said that she appeared to have suffered a heart attack.&nbsp;
However, on Wednesday, Phogat&rsquo;s brother Rinku Dhaka filed a complaint accusing her personal assistant Sangwan and his aide Singh of murdering her. On Thursday, the police filed a murder case.&nbsp;
The two murder accused confessed to having mixed an "obnoxious chemical&rdquo; in Phogat's drink and they will be produced before a court soon, as per a statement by the Inspector General of Police Omvir Singh Bishnoi.
The incident took place at Curlies Restaurant at Anjuna in North Goa district between the night of August 22 and the early hours of August 23, said Singh.
Meanwhile, the doctor, who conducted the postmortem, reserved his opinion on the cause of her death pending chemical analysis. He had written that &ldquo;multiple blunt force injuries&rdquo; were found on Phogat&rsquo;s body.&nbsp;
On Friday, Bishnoi said that those injuries could be abrasions that Phogat sustained while she was being taken to the hospital, PTI reported.&nbsp;

However, three days on, Phogat’s death has turned into a mystery after her brother Rinku Dhaka made sensational allegations against Sonali’s aides Sudhir Sangwan and Sukhwinder Wasi. 
A case has been registered against both the associates who could have possible links to Sonali’s death.

The video was recorded after Phogat was served laced food item and raped by Sangwan and Wasi, claims Rinku Dhaka in the complaint.
Dhaka goes on to say in the complaint that both Sonali’s associates were also suspected of being involved in a theft that took place at Phogat’s residence in Haryana last year.

Three years ago, one of her aides sexually assaulted her after spiking her food and later blackmailed her, her brother further alleged in the police complaint. No First Information Report (FIR) has been registered over his complaint yet.

Dhaka said the family members would prefer the postmortem to be conducted at the All Indian Institute of Medical Sciences in Delhi or at AIIMS, Jaipur.
“She was a BJP leader for last 15 years. We will also appeal to the prime minister to help us in getting justice for her,” he said.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Sawant said he has been following up the matter with Director General of Police Jaspal Singh.
“The Goa Police are conducting a detailed investigation into the case,” he said.

Phogat, a former Tik Tok star who had joined the BJP in 2019, was on a visit to Goa along with some of her staff members.

On Monday night, she was brought to St Anthony Hospital at Anjuna in North Goa district after she complained of uneasiness, sources said.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (Mapusa) Jivba Dalvi said she was brought dead to the hospital.
&ldquo;Prime facie, the cause of death is established as heart attack but further medical examination is on,&rdquo; he said.
The postmortem would be conducted at the state-run <a href="https://www.editorji.com/india-news/politics/smriti-irani-daughter-don-t-own-goa-restaurant-congress-hatched-conspiracy-delhi-hc-1659375838825">Goa Medical College</a> and Hospital at Bambolim, the official said.
"She has passed away. I have been given information that she was in Goa," Haryana BJP chief O P Dhankar told PTI.
BJP Hisar district president Capt Bhupender said, "Sonali ji was in Goa. I spoke to her assistant and he said that she died of a heart attack".

Phogat had unsuccessfully contested the last Assembly election from Adampur Assembly constituency against Kuldeep Bishnoi.
Bishnoi, who was then in Congress, recently joined the BJP.&nbsp;
