India's Shital Mahajan jumps from 21,500 feet in front of Mt Everest, sets new skydiving record

Shital Mahajan said in a Facebook post that she performed the best jump of her life from 21,500 feet in front of Mount Everest and landed at the highest altitude at Kalapatthar 17,444 feet /5,317m.

An Indian skydiver has achieved a new feat as she has become the first woman in the world to jump off a helicopter from the height of 21,500 feet in front of Mt Everest. 41-year-old Shital Mahajan completed skydiving on the front side of the highest peak in the world on November 13. &ldquo;I performed the best jump of my life from 21,500 feet in front of Mount Everest and landed at the highest altitude at Kalapatthar 17,444 feet /5,317m. I accomplished the highest altitude skydiving landing done by a woman. Along with 2 another National record of the First Indian woman to skydive in front of Mount Everest at Kalapatthar and the Highest altitude skydiving landing done by a woman,&rdquo; she said in a post on her social media Facebook page. Mahajan has accomplished a remarkable series of high-altitude skydives in the Everest region. She is a recipient of the fourth highest Indian civilian award Padma Shri and a holder of several skydiving records.

A 104-year-old Chicago woman is hoping to be certified as the oldest person to ever skydive after making a tandem jump from 13,500 feet in northern Illinois.
The Chicago Tribune reports Dorothy Hoffner told a cheering crowd that &ldquo;age is just a number&rdquo; moments after she touched the ground Sunday at Skydive Chicago in Ottawa, Illinois.
She made the jump while tethered to a certified instructor. The Guinness World Record for the oldest skydiver was set in May 2022 by 103-year-old Linn&eacute;a Ingeg&auml;rd Larsson from Sweden.
But WLS-TV reports that Skydive Chicago is working to have Guinness World Records certify Hoffner&rsquo;s jump.
