Some cases arise out of conjoined twin scenarios in which one twin&rsquo;s development fails and is largely consumed by the surviving one, leaving only a few limbs behind.&nbsp;

In June of 2022, a Bollywood actor and philanthropist Sonu Sood posted a series of before and after pictures with a kindergarten child. The girl, from Bihar, named Chaumukhi Kumari was born in 2019 with four legs and four arms, and her additional limbs were attached to her stomach. &nbsp; &nbsp; As her parents couldn&rsquo;t afford to pay for her surgery, Sood, who earned worldwide praise for helping migrants during the Covid-19 lockdown in 2020, stepped in to help the child.&nbsp;
Sharing a few pictures of the girl and himself, Sood informed fans that she underwent surgery, and it was successful.&nbsp;
Many such cases have been reported in the past in India and the latest one is from Siwan in Bihar. A woman gave birth to a baby with four arms, four legs, and two hearts. The baby, however, did not survive.&nbsp; The child became a topic of discussion among the people present in the hospital and the staff and the story of childbirth has gone viral. In India, such infants have been hailed as the reincarnation of the gods, but science describes such cases as polymelia, where the Greek poly- means &lsquo;many&rsquo; and melia refers to &lsquo;limbs&rsquo;.&nbsp; &nbsp; Doctors say the congenital disorder results in additional, unusable arms, legs, hands or feet that commonly appear shrunken and misshapen. &nbsp; &nbsp; Some cases arise out of conjoined twin scenarios in which one twin&rsquo;s development fails and is largely consumed by the surviving one, leaving only a few limbs behind.&nbsp; &nbsp; The case reported from Siwan, where the infant also had two hearts, could be due to the failure in the development of another twin. &nbsp;

Bihar: 3 dead, 7 hospitalised after consuming spurious liquor in Siwan

According to a statement issued by the district administration, 10 people were admitted to the district hospital in Siwan at around 7 pm on Sunday after they complained of stomach pain, nausea and dizziness.

&nbsp;At least three people died and seven others were taken ill after allegedly consuming spurious liquor in Bhopatpur sub-division of Siwan district of &ldquo;dry&rdquo; Bihar, officials said on Monday.
According to a statement issued by the district administration, 10 people were admitted to the district hospital in Siwan at around 7 pm on Sunday after they complained of stomach pain, nausea and dizziness.
&ldquo;While one person was declared brought dead by the doctors of the Siwan hospital, two persons died when they were taken to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH). Seven people are presently admitted at the district hospital in Siwan&rdquo;, the statement said.
Locals said many among the seven, who fell ill, are in a serious condition.
Sale and consumption of liquor is banned in Bihar since April 2016.
The district administration said that the post-mortem reports of the deceased would ascertain the exact cause of death.
&ldquo;A team of security personnel have already been deployed in the area. The police station concerned has registered a case and is investigating the matter. Twelve people have so far been arrested in connection with the case&rdquo;, the statement said.
In December last year, spurious liquor allegedly claimed the lives of around 50 people in Saran district.
The incident had triggered a political slugfest in the Bihar Assembly, with opposition leaders mounting a strong attack on Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar over the repeated incidents of spurious liquor deaths.
The BJP then claimed that over 100 deaths occurred due to the consumption of spurious liquor in Saran.
