In a distressing incident in Uttar Pradesh, a car was driven into a crowd of devotees, killing an 8-month-old child, and injuring at least 14 people.

Police said that a man named Rajnish was driving the car. He was allegedly drunk, and didn't realise that the car was running, before he rammed into the crowd, police said.

Yet another case of a woman being murdered and her body chopped into pieces has come to light, this time in Uttar Pradesh.
Amid outrage over the Shraddha Walkar-Aaftab Poonawala case, it has emerged that a woman identified as Jyoti alias Sneha was murdered allegedly by her husband and his friend.
Police found the victim's body on November 8 in Sitapur after it was dumped at a distant location. The husband, identified as Pankaj Maurya, and his associate Durjan Pasi have been arrested.
Police said that the husband confessed to killing his wife. The accused claimed that the woman used to regularly consume drugs, and also stay at someone's home for days. The husband suspected his wife of cheating on him. The two were married for over a decade.
The manner of murder is similar to Shraddha Walkar who was strangled to death, and then her body was chopped into 35 pieces allegedly by her live-in partner Aaftab Poonawala.

Amid a speculation whether he will chalk a new political course for himself, Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan has claimed that an inspector had warned him in jail that he could get encountered after his release.   Khan said, “When an inspector can threaten in the jail, ‘go underground, you have several cases against you, you can get encountered,’ then in the face of such dangers, it is difficult to say where I am headed.”  The Supreme Court granted him bail n a land-grabbing case exercising its special powers under Article 142 of the Constitution as it flagged the “peculiar” circumstances of the matter.   Sitapur district jail superintendent Suresh Singh had said on the day of Azam’s release that that SP leader was in jail following 81 cases lodged against him and after receiving bail orders in all 81 cases he was released.   He remained in Sitapur jail for 27 months.  Addressing a press conference in Rampur, the 10-time MLA, said, “The BJP, BSP or the Congress are not a big question for me at this time. Thousands of cases have been lodged against me, my family and my people. I can only say that I have a role in my destruction and my own people contributed to it.”

In Sitapur, three people received bullet injuries when an independent candidate Munni Devi arrived to file her nomination in Kamlapur.

Violence was reported on Thursday from various districts, including Siddharthnagar, Sitapur, Gorakhpur, Sambhal during the nomination of papers for the block pramukh elections. The ruckus broke out when opposition candidates were prevented from filing their nomination papers.
In Sitapur, three people received bullet injuries when an independent candidate Munni Devi arrived to file her nomination in Kamlapur.
Meanwhile in a shocking video doing the rounds of social media, a&nbsp;Samajwadi Party worker was manhandled by two men from a rival party.&nbsp;The woman was a proposer for a Samajwadi Party candidate in block panchayat polls and was trying to enter a nomination centre when she was attacked.
Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra&nbsp;and Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav lshed&nbsp;out at the BJP&nbsp;over the violence.
Sharing a video of the violence on Twitter, Priyanka Gandhi tweeted, that PM sahab and CM sahab should congratulate their workers in UP who indulged in stone-pelting and firing, adding that nomination papers were looted, journalists were beaten up, and women were misbehaved with, at many places.
Samajwadi chief Akhilesh Yadav alleged that the attackers were BJP workers and, called them "power hungry goons of Yogi Adityanath (Chief Minister)".
