Born as Krishnakumar Kunnath in New Delhi, he became immensely popular as KK. After working with renowned names like Louis Banks, Ranjit Barot and Lesle Lewis, KK slowly gained popularity as a singer. The milestone of his career was in the form of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus 'Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam', wherein he sang the soulful rendition of 'Tadap Tadap'. The gave the industry some smash hit tracks like 'Khuda Jaane' (from the film 'Bachna Ae Haseeno'), 'Awarapan' (from the film 'Jism’), 'Tu Hi Meri Shab Hai' (from the film 'Gangster: A Love Story'), 'Tu Ashiqui Hai' (from the film 'Jhankaar Beats')… the list is endless.
Meanwhile, in his career spanning many years, KK lent his vocals to more than 3500 jingles and 11 different languages! He had even sung many hit pop songs like 'Pal', 'Yaaron', 'Din Ho Ya Raat', 'Humsafar' etc…
On 31 May 2022, KK passed away after performing in a college fest at Nazrul Mancha in Kolkata.

Best known as the 'Nightingale of India', Lata Mangeshkar is always considered one of the most versatile singers the music industry has ever seen. There is hardly any heroine from Madhubala to Madhuri Dixit for whom Lata didi has not sung the playback for. Lata Mangeshkar was conferred the most prestigious 'Bharat Ratna' award for her immense contribution to the world of music. In her illustrious career spanning many decades, she has lent her vocals to many superhit songs (films, devotional and traditional). On 6 February 2022, the 'Nightingale' called Lata Mangeshkar passed away, leaving behind her work's unparalleled and incomparable legacy.
Sidhu Moose Wala

Born as Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, he nicknamed himself as Sidhu Moose Wala. While his father is an ex-army man, his mother is a sarpanch in his village. After his graduation, Sidhu Moose Wala moved to Canada. Having a staggering 9.1 million followers on Instagram, this singer had many hit tracks to his credits including 'Goat', 'Issa Jatt', 'Dhakka', 'Bambiha Bole' and others. Unfortunately, on 29 May 2022, he was shot down by unidentified gunmen in his car.
Tarsame Singh Saini (Taz/ Johnny Zee)

He was one of the musicians responsible for making the 90's era as the 'musical era'. Born as Tarsame Singh Saini, he was mostly known by his nickname 'Taz'.
He was the lead singer of the popular band 'Stereo Nation'. Taz became a household name with his hit album 'Hit The Deck'. Post that, he went onto churn many superhit tracks. Besides pop songs like 'Nachenge Saari Raat', 'Carol', Taz had also sung for a few Bollywood films including 'Tum Bin', 'Koi Mill Gaya' and 'Batla House'.
Sadly, the 54-year-old Tarsame Singh Saini passed away on 29 April 2022 because of a reported liver failure.
Sandhya Mukherjee

This Kolkata resident lived in the hearts of millions through her songs. Considered a doyen of modern and semi-classical music in Bengali, her duets with the legendary singer Hemanta Mukherjee (Hemant Kumar) are absolutely priceless and have been treasured by her fans all over the globe. Sandhya had also sung many songs in Bollywood as well. These songs include 'Aa Gupchup Gupchup Pyar Karen', 'Mai To Prem Diwani', 'Ram Japu Ram Japu', 'Yeh Baat Koi Samjhaye Re', to name a few.
In lieu of her contribution to the world of music, she was nicknamed as 'Geetashree'. Sangeeta made headlines when she refused to accept the 'Padma Shri' award on January 24.
On 15 February 2022, the legendary singer Sandhya Mukherjee breathed her last.

Besides being a singer, he was also a musician, composer and even a politician. He can be rightfully credited for popularizing the use of synthesized disco music in Indian cinema.
Born in a family of musicians, Lahiri started his musical career with the Bengali film 'Daadu', where the late Lata Mangeshkar sang his first composition. Besides his unique vocals, Bappida was always known for his trademark usage of golden embellishments, chains, and also his sunglasses. Bappi da had also dabbled in politics in January 2014 when he contested the Lok Sabha elections, which he lost.
A few of the hit songs sung by him include 'Tamma Tamma Loge' (from the film  'Thanedaar'), 'Yaar Bina Chain Kaha Re' (from the film 'Saaheb'), 'Jimmy Jimmy Ajaa Ajaa' (from the film 'Disco Dancer'), 'I Am A Disco Dancer' (from the film 'Disco Dancer') and many others.
On 15 February 2022, Bappi Lahiri passed away reportedly due to Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA).
