The weather agency in Russia&rsquo;s Yakutia region said a temperature of -62.7 degrees Celsius was recorded at Tongulakh at 9 am on 18 January 2023, breaking the station&rsquo;s all-time low for the third time this month, BNO News said in a report.
The lowest temperature ever recorded in Russia was -67.8&deg;C (-90.0&deg;F), which happened two times, first in 1892 and then in 1933. This was also the world&rsquo;s lowest temperature ever recorded in a populated region.

A Russian jet crashed Sunday into a two-storey building in the city of Irkutsk in southern Siberia, the regional governor said, days after a military jet crashed into a block of flats in the Russian town of Yeysk.
"According to preliminary data, a Su category plane hit a two-storey building in Irkutsk on Przhevalskogo street... Two pilots in the plane lost their lives," governor Igor Kobzev said on social media with the emergencies ministry saying a "Su-30 aircraft crashed during a test flight".

President Vladimir Putin extended his condolences to the families of the dead and ordered the government to offer all necessary assistance to those injured.

The Kremlin said on Thursday said there was no reason to blame Russia for opposition politician Alexei Navalny&rsquo;s poisoning. Kremlin&rsquo;s statement comes a day after German Chancellor Angela Merkel said Navalny had been poisoned with a Soviet-style Novichok nerve agent in an attempt to murder him.
Denying the accusations, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov cautioned the West against jumping to conclusions and imposing sanctions.
