Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the four-time chief minister of Madhya Pradesh who was replaced by Mohan Yadav by the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP), said that sometimes one ends up in exile (vanvas) while waiting for coronation (raj tilak).

Chouhan's comments came while addressing a gathering in Shahganj town in his constituency of Budhni on Tuesday evening. The BJP's top leadership picked Yadav over Chouhan as the CM after securing a resounding victory in the recently concluded Madhya Pradesh assembly polls.
The senior BJP leader assured that the various welfare schemes started under his administration like the Ladli Behna Yojana (for women's welfare), housing scheme for beneficiaries of the Ladli Behna scheme, a scheme of one job in each family and promises made to farmers, will be fulfilled by the present dispensation.
"The new government will take forward all these works. There must be some big objective somewhere, sometimes by the time 'rajtilak' takes place, one even ends up in 'vanvas' (exile). But all this happens to fulfil some or the other objective," Chouhan said.
Breaking down while speaking, Chouhan, whose future in the party remains uncertain, said that he would continue to be among the people, especially his "sisters" while referring to the women voters.
"I will not go anywhere. I will live here and die here," he said when a couple of women sitting in the audience shouted, "Bhaiyya (brother), don't go anywhere leaving us alone." &nbsp;&nbsp;
He also noted that children who were among the audience had come to show their love for "mama" (maternal uncle - as Chouhan is popularly referred to).
Earlier, a large number of BJP workers and women welcomed Chouhan on his arrival in Shahganj.
Chouhan won the assembly polls from Budhni assembly seat by a margin of more than 1.04 lakh votes over his Congress rival Vikram Mastal.
In the November 2023 state elections, the BJP bagged 163 of the 230 assembly seats, posting a resounding victory and retaining power in the central state.

The scenes from Bhopal that day cannot be forgotten. I pay my tributes to all those who lost their lives. No city should suffer what Bhopal did. Such a tragedy should never get repeated. To make sure of this, there should be a balance between development and the environment. I pay my tributes to the victims of this tragedy."

Seventeen of them, including three Union ministers fielded in Madhya Pradesh, are Lok Sabha members and most of them have been fielded on relatively difficult assembly seats, where the party had lost in the last elections.
The party on Monday announced fresh lists of candidates for Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will contest from his traditional Budhni seat as the BJP announced the names of 57 more candidates for the assembly polls to be held on November 17. With this, the BJP has so far announced its candidates for 136 seats in the 230-member Madhya Pradesh assembly.

The names of former Chhattisgarh chief minister Raman Singh and state BJP president Arun Sao figured in its latest list of candidates for the state, taking to 85 the number of seats in the 90-member assembly for which it has named candidates.
Three MPs, including Union Minister Renuka Singh, also featured in the second list of 64 candidates for Chhattisgarh.
The BJP has sent out a message about its determined efforts to put its best foot forward by fielding so many regional heavyweights, including Union ministers Narendra Singh Tomar, Faggan Singh Kulaste and Prahlad Singh Patel in Madhya Pradesh, a state where it is in power and is facing a keen challenge from the Congress.
Party sources said fielding seasoned leaders in the assembly polls also helps defuse factional feuds as they enjoy more acceptance. Such a move also raises the stakes for the satraps seeking key roles in government and organisation by throwing them the challenge of ensuring a good performance for the party in their seats and adjoining constituencies, they said.
Rajsamand MP Diya Kumari and Jaipur Rural MP Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore are among the BJP candidates from Rajasthan.
Kumari will fight the elections from Jaipur's Vidhyadhar Nagar constituency, Rathore, a former Union minister and retired Army officer, has been fielded from Jhotwara, also in Jaipur district.
Vidhyadhar Nagar seat is currently held by BJP MLA Narpat Singh Rajvi, a five-time MLA and son-in-law of former vice president Bhairon Singh Shekhawat.
The remaining 40 constituencies for which the BJP announced its candidates are held by the ruling Congress and other parties.
Jhunjhunu MP Narendra Kumar will contest the elections from Mandawa, Alwar MP Baba Balaknath from Tijara, Ajmer MP Bhagirath Choudhary from Kishangarh, Jalore MP Devji Patel from Sanchore, and Meena will fight from the Sawai Madhopur constituency.
Announcing the election schedule at a press conference here, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar said single-phase assembly polls will be held in Madhya Pradesh on November 17, Rajasthan on November 23, Telangana on November 30 and Mizoram on November 7 while Chhattisgarh will go to the polls in two phases on November 7 (20 seats) and 17 (70 seats).

The BJP and the Congress will be engaged in a direct fight in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan while the two parties are also in contention for power in Telangana, where Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao-led Bharat Rashtra Samithi is eyeing a third straight term.

The 7-year-old boy who fell into a borewell in Madhya Pradesh's Vidisha on 14 March 2023 was pulled out around 24 hours later, but could not survive the ordeal.
After being extracted from the borewell, Lokesh Ahirwar was rushed to the government hospital in Lateri, but doctors declared him dead after examination, officials said.
He fell into a 60-foot-deep borewell while playing, and was stuck at a depth of 43 feet. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister announced a compensation of ₹4 lakh for the boy's family.

Before being suspended, the official was reprimanded by the CM for failing to meet the target of issuing an adequate number of cards under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala scheme.
A video of the incident shows Chouhan pulling up the DSO (District Supply Officer) identified as Tikaram Ahirwar on the stage. 
During the event in Dindori, Chouhan was being briefed about the status of the Ujjwala scheme. Under the scheme, LPG connections are distributed among women from Below Poverty Line (BPL) families.
He was informed that the district had not met its targets. Seemingly annoyed at the report, Chouhan then asked the official to call the DSO on stage and explain. 
While the DSO reported progress and reasoned for the failure, MP CM said, “Go, you’re suspended.” 
The suspension is yet to be confirmed officially.
