Mishra allegedly urinated on the woman, a senior citizen, in an inebriated condition in the business class of the Air India flight from New York to Delhi.

&nbsp;Shankar Mishra, the man accused of urinating on an elderly woman co-passenger on board an Air India flight from New York to New Delhi, on Wednesday moved a Delhi court seeking bail.
Mishra, currently in judicial custody, moved an appeal before a sessions court against an order passed by a magisterial court that had denied him bail on January 11.
The sessions court is likely to hear the arguments on his application on January 27. &nbsp;Mishra was arrested by a joint team of Bengaluru and Delhi police after he had gone incommunicado following the sordid incident on an Air India flight on November 26, 2022.
Mishra allegedly urinated on the woman, a senior citizen, in an inebriated condition in the business class of the Air India flight from New York to Delhi. The Delhi Police registered an FIR against him on January 4 on a complaint by the woman.

The top management at Air India had previously claimed that they were not informed about the incident after the flight landed, which led to the accused Shankar Mishra walking away without any action against him.

A crew member onboard the Air India flight on November 26 last year, had reported the incident of a drunk passenger urinating on a woman co-passenger, to top officials of the airline, as per media reports.
According to e-mails accessed by ANI, the Air India cabin crew supervisor had reportedly sent out an email on November 27 to its CEO Campbell Wilson within hours of the flight's touchdown in Delhi.
The top management at Air India had previously claimed that they were not informed about the incident after the flight landed.
Air India chairman and managing director (CMD) Campbell Wilson stated that the airline had constituted an internal committee to probe lapses on part of its crew and address the deficiencies that delayed quick redressal of the situation that occurred after a passenger on board Flight AI-102 allegedly urinated on a woman passenger, was reported to airlines officials soon after landing.
The mail containing the 'brief summary' of the incident was also acknowledged with a reply of "Ok, Noted," at 3.47 Hours.
One of the initial emails after the telephonic discussions, accessed by ANI, was sent at 3.46 pm, which was also read and acknowledged by the recipients.

Following huge uproar over Air India crew's response to the alleged urination on a woman passenger, India's aviation watchdog has penalised the airline.
Air India has been ordered to pay ₹30 lakhs as fine by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, according to news agency ANI.
Additionally, DGCA has suspended for 3 months the licence of the pilot-in-command of the New York-to-Delhi flight on which the alleged incident took place. A ₹3 lakh fine has also been imposed on Air India's director, in-flight services.

The incident took place in November 2022, and the complainant has accused the flight crew of trying to hush-up the matter.

Earlier, Mishra's lawyer had said that his act was not driven by sexual desire or for outraging the victim's modesty.
The alleged incident had occurred on November 26 last year when a drunk Mishra walked up to the woman's seat in the business class on an Air India New York-New Delhi flight, exposed himself and urinated on her.
