The horror film kick-started its box office run with an impressive debut, minting Rs 17.75 crore on its opening day. With positive word-of-mouth, the numbers soared further, collecting Rs 18.75 crore on the second day. Within just three days, the film managed to cross the Rs 50 crore mark.&nbsp;

&lsquo;Shaitaan&rsquo; witnessed an overall 33.65% occupancy across its Hindi shows on Saturday. According to Sacnilk, night shows contributed 50.84% of the occupancy while evening shows had 37.31% occupancy. Afternoon shows managed to log an overall 28.45% occupancy while lowest occupancy was witnessed in the morning at 18.01%. The film has received great response surpassing the estimates by trade analysts. &nbsp;

'Shaitaan’ has received the U/A certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification  with some changes and a scene cut. After changes film's duration has come down to 132 minutes. Directed by Vikas Bahl, ‘Shaitaan’ is said to hit the theatres on March 8.

Bollywood Hungama reported that the Censor Board has asked to add a voiceover about the disclaimer saying, &lsquo;the film does not support/endorse black magic&rsquo;. &nbsp;It has also been reported that an abusive word has been replaced by a scream. CBFC has also asked the makers to cut the gory scene by 25%, which shows blood oozing out of the mouth.&nbsp;
A message on liquor consumption will also be added to the film. After all the changes, the film&rsquo;s duration has come down to 132 minutes.&nbsp;

R Madhavan is seen playing the antagonist in the film. During the trailer launch, Devgn confessed that he connected the most with the emotions of a helpless father in the movie. Jyotikha plays Ajay&rsquo;s wife in the film.&nbsp;
&ldquo;When we started shooting, the first thing Maddy (Madhavan) told me was: &lsquo;Why aren&rsquo;t you doing this role, why have you given it to me?&rsquo;. I told him, &lsquo;I really feel for the character of the father, so I will not be able to do justice to the other character. It&rsquo;s a stronger character though,&rdquo; Ajay said.&nbsp;
Madhavan said he was grateful that Ajay passed on the important role to him. Talking about it, the actor shared, &ldquo;I can really hope and pray that I could do justice to the kindness that has been shown to me by Ajay sir and his team, I&rsquo;m very thankful.&rdquo;&nbsp;
