West Indies cricket has been rocked by allegations of sexual abuse against an unnamed current player and the team's head coach Darren Sammy has called for justice to be served but also stressed on the need to follow the due process.
A report published last week by Guyana-based Kaieteur News claimed that 11 women, including a teenager, have come forward with allegations of sexual offences against the cricketer, some reportedly dating back to 2023. No formal charges have been filed yet.
Addressing the media ahead of the second Test against Australia, Sammy acknowledged the gravity of the situation while underscoring the importance of respecting legal procedures.
"We are all aware of what's been going on in the media. I'm very close to my players. I've had conversations with them. One thing I could say is, we believe in justice. We are a community that believes justice must be served," the former captain Sammy.
"However there's a process. There's allegations and we will continue to support in whatever way we can, to make sure that due process and the right system is followed," he added.
Sammy, who has been West Indies' white-ball coach since May 2023, added that it's essential to allow the legal procedure to take its course before drawing conclusions.
"It's allegations. We know the justice system, you've got to wait for things to process. I'm not a judge, I'm not a prosecutor. The information that has come out is what we have. I'm pretty sure at the end of the day, justice will be served," he added.
When asked whether Cricket West Indies had launched an internal investigation, Sammy declined to confirm.
"I can't answer to that to be honest. I&rsquo;m pretty sure they are doing all what they can to make sure the right process is followed." West Indies and Australia will lock horns in the second Test starting here on Thursday.

The CBI has arrested an alleged sexual predator from Hisar, Haryana for raping and circulating explicit child sexual abuse material on the internet, officials said Wednesday.
Using Interpol's International Child Sexual Exploitation (ICSE) database and Cyber Tipline Reports, generated by Google and submitted to Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), the CBI detected the material and identified the victims and perpetrator, they said.
None of the victims or their families had approached police with the complaint before the CBI detected the material and nailed the role of alleged perpetrator, they said.
The agency registered a case on May 29 against Somnath from Hisar for alleged rape and sexual assault on multiple minor victims. He was arrested on Tuesday following searches at his residential premises, they said.
The searches resulted in the seizure of electronic gadgets carrying incriminating material, which helped identify multiple victim children who were raped, sexually assaulted, threatened, and used for pornographic purposes over the past few years, a CBI spokesperson said in a statement.

<h3>What are Blue Balls?</h3>
For those unaware, blue balls refers to a condition where there is temporary discomfort or pain in the testicles, typically caused by prolonged sexual arousal without ejaculation. It is characterized by a bluish tint of the scrotum due to increased blood flow and engorgement of the testicles.
<h3>Blue balls/vulva do exist</h3>
This study was published in the journal Sexual Medicine and it surveyed 1,483 people with penis and 1,138 people with vagina. It was found in the study that blue balls/vulva do exist but most women said that they experienced pressure to engage in sexual intercourse when their partner had blue balls.&nbsp;
Additionally, the study revealed that although the term "scrotal discomfort" specifically refers to discomfort in the scrotal region, a significant number of individuals with a vulva (42%) and people with a penis (56%) reported experiencing this discomfort.
However, it is important to note that this pain or discomfort is generally mild and sporadic. Severe cases of excruciating testicular pain, commonly known as "blue balls," were reported by only a small percentage (6.7%) of participants.
The study's findings indicate that participants acknowledged societal expectations for individuals with a vagina to engage in sexual activity in order to prevent their partners from experiencing blue balls.
However, it was also recognized and agreed upon that this phenomenon should not be used as a means to coerce or manipulate partners into engaging sexually.
