The fields are on fire again. Over 1,200 cases of farm fires have already been recorded in Punjab. And it's just the beginning as it's been only two weeks since the paddy harvest started from September 21. The number is almost five-time the 264 cases recorded during the kharif harvest of 2019 in the corresponding time period, the Hindustan Times has reported. The Punjab Pollution Control Board while downplaying the rise saying it's too early to know the trend, has fined over 350 farmers to the tune of 9.5 lakh for burning their stubble. Farm fires in Punjab and Haryana are one of the major contributors to pollution in Delhi.

SOPs for partial reopening of schools for Classes 9-12 issued

The Centre&nbsp;on Tuesday issued standard operating procedures for partial resumption of teaching activities in schools for students of Classes 9 to 12, on a voluntary basis, from September 21. In a statement, Health Minister Harsh Vardhan said the precautionary measures include teachers, employees and students ensuring physical distancing of at least six feet, use of face covers, frequent hand-washing, following respiratory etiquette, self-monitoring of health, and not spitting. This will be subject to written consent of parents or guardians. And during the time students visit schools&nbsp;teacher-student interaction must be organised in a staggered manner. Only the schools outside the containment zones will be allowed to open.&nbsp; Schools that were used as quarantine centres will be properly sanitised and deep cleaned before partial functioning is resumed. Instead of biometric attendance, alternate arrangements for contactless attendance shall be made by the school administration.

2020 IPL schedule is out, here are the fixtures

BCCI announce schedule for 2020 IPL.&nbsp;Chennai and Mumbai to kick start the cash-rich league from September 19

The most awaited announcement was finally made on Friday as BCCI released the schedule for 2020 IPL. Defending champions Mumbai Indians will kick start the cash-rich league against the Chennai Super Kings on September 19&nbsp;in Abu Dhabi. Unlike the previous editions, the games will start at 7:30 PM IST this time around. There will be 10 double-headers this season which are subject to change. Virat Kohli's RCB will play their first game on September 21.&nbsp;While Dubai will host&nbsp;24 matches, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah will see 20 and 12 games respectively. Venues for playoffs and the final will be announced later.&nbsp;
