The second presidential debate between US president Donald Trump and his challenger Joe Biden has been cancelled after Trump refused to participate in a virtual format. The Commission on Presidential Debates had on Thursday announced that it was converting the October 15 town hall debate to a virtual affair out of caution because Trump had tested positive for the coronavirus. But Trump refused the format insisting on in-person debate. Biden had earlier said that he would not debate Trump if he still had the virus. The move leaves just one more debate on the schedule to be held on October 22 in Nashville before the November 3 election.

US President Donald Trump who is currently infected with the novel coronavirus has refused to participate in the second presidential debate after the Debate Commission decided to hold it virtually. Issuing a statement soon after the announcement by&nbsp;the Commission, Trump campaign called the decision 'pathetic' and accused the panel of trying to protect Trump's Democratic&nbsp;challenger Joe Biden.&nbsp;
The&nbsp;statement further went on to say that&nbsp;the US President would have posted several Covid negative tests before the debate and there was no need to hold the event virtually. Calling the decision 'unilateral' and 'a sad excuse to bail out Biden', the Trump campaign has decided to hold a rally instead of participating in the virtual debate.&nbsp;
