Actor Randeep Hooda, who shocked everyone with his massive weight loss for his 2016 film &lsquo;Sarbajit&rsquo;, has once again shed kilos for his upcoming biopic of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar. At the ongoing 53rd International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, Randeep Hooda talked about weight loss and the consequences he faced.
Talking to news agency ANI, Randeep said, &lsquo;I have been underweight for a very long time...and I agree I shouldn't have been underweight for too long. However, the biopic on Vinayak Damodar Savarkar demands it and I love to push my limit and do everything possible to do justice to the character I am playing. It's not that I have to undergo transformation out of duty or something. It's just that I like to go through emotions of different characters. This kind of training makes me feel closer to the character.&rsquo;
However, he agrees that such body transformations are life threatening. He said, &lsquo;It does take a toll on health...so I try to take breaks and pause for a while. Taking breaks really help to undergo tough transformations.&rsquo;
Seeing his current body transformation even fans are worried about him and raised concerns on social media for the actor.

Uddhav Thackeray: don't approve of Rahul's remark on Savarkar

The Thackeray-led Shiv Sena faction has an alliance with the Congress and the Nationalist Congress Party, as part of the Maha Vikas Aghadi.

Former Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray, who heads a faction of the Shiv Sena, on Thursday said his party has immense respect for V D Savarkar and he does not approve of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's remarks on the freedom fighter.
Talking to reporters here, Thackeray also asked why the Centre has not conferred the Bharat Ratna on Savarkar.
The Thackeray-led Shiv Sena faction has an alliance with the Congress and the Nationalist Congress Party, as part of the Maha Vikas Aghadi.
During a rally in Washim district on Tuesday organised as part of his Bharat Jodo Yatra, Gandhi said Savarkar is a symbol of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
&ldquo;He was jailed in Andaman for two-three years. He started writing mercy petitions,&rdquo; the Congress MP had said.
The former Congress president had claimed Savarkar wrote a book on himself with a different name and highlighted how brave he was. &ldquo;He used to take pension from the British, work for them, and work against the Congress,&rdquo; Gandhi had said.
Thackeray on Thursday said, "We do not approve of Rahul Gandhi's remarks on Savarkar. We have immense respect and faith for Swatyantra Veer Savarkar and it cannot be erased.

Now, a passage on Savarkar in a revised school textbook has become a political hot potato. The textbook revision committee has added a section on Savarkar in the high school curriculum in Karnataka, as per reports.
A class 8 textbook now reportedly says, "There was not even a keyhole in the cell where Savarkar was incarcerated. But, Bulbul birds used to visit the room, and Savarkar used to sit on their wings and fly out and visit the motherland every day."
On 23 August 2022, the Bharatiya Janata Party flagged off a Savarkar Yath Ratra in Karnataka. While the BJP calls Savarkar a great freedom fighter, he is described as a British collaborator by the Congress.

A flex banner displayed by a local Hindu Mahasabha leader at Surathkal extending Sri Krishna Janmashtami greetings sparked a row as it had pictures of Mahatma Gandhi's assassin Nathuram Godse and Hindutva icon V D Savarkar.
However, before the controversy spread, the civic authorities removed the banner immediately following complaints on Thursday.
The flex was installed by Hindu Mahasabha local leader Rajesh Pavitran, police sources said. After a complaint was received, the banner was removed on the order of the Commissioner of Mangaluru City Corporation.
Police security was beefed up in Surathkal in view of Sri Krishna Janmashtami celebrations, the sources said.
The Hindu Mahasabha had courted a controversy when they displayed a banner with a photo of Savarkar on August 14 at Surathkal flyover.

Activists of the Youth Congress and the Youth League--the youth wing of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML)-- held protest marches towards the Government Vocational Higher Secondary School at Keezhooparamba on Tuesday seeking action against those who dressed the child as Savarkar for the programme.
Blurred photographs of the programme aired by news channels showed the children dressed as freedom fighters including Savarkar participating in the programme.
A child dressed as one of the freedom fighters to take part in the rally had the name of V D Savarkar written on him. Controversy erupted when its photo was circulated on social media.
Local media reports said that the photo was taken from the green room. However, sensing that it would create controversy, the nameboard of Savarkar was removed before the procession.

On Tuesday morning when a police team went to detain Zabi, he allegedly tried to attack police team. In self defence, sub-inspector Manjunath S Kuki of Vinoba Nagar police station shot in his right leg, police said.
He was rushed to a government hospital where he is recovering.

The Congress objected to an advertisement issued by the BJP government in Karnataka regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign.
The Congress criticised the BJP for excluding India's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru from the list of eminent freedom fighters featured in the advertisement. The ones part of the list included MK Gandhi, Subhas Chandra Bose, Vallabhbhai Patel, Bhagat Singh, Chandrashekhar Azad, Vinayak Savarkar, Lala Lajpat Rai, Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Bipin Chandra Pal, BR Ambedkar, Lal Bahadur Shastri, and Abul Kalam Azad.
Former Karnataka Chief Minister and Congress leader Siddaramaiah accused incumbent CM Basavaraj Bommai of being "a slave of RSS". Siddaramaiah accused Bommai of casteism for placing Ambedkar in the second row, and Savarkar in the first row.
Congress leader Randeep Surjewala said that the "unending hatred" for India's first Prime Minister has "reached its zenith".
Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said that Nehru will survive such "pettiness". He added that what CM Bommai has done is "an insult to his father SR Bommai and his political guru MN Roy" both of whom were "great Nehru admirers".
The BJP was unfazed by Congress' attacks. News agency PTI quoted State BJP General Secretary N Ravi Kumar as saying that Nehru was left out "intentionally".
Kumar said, "When we are observing 'Partition Horrors Remembrance Day' today on the call given by our prime minister, what is the point of using his photograph? Nehru was a person who did not heed Gandhi's call. He was responsible for Partition, which saw massive bloodshed of common people. So, we did not put his photograph."

Days after a complaint was filed against Kangana Ranaut at a Mumbai court for 'spreading hate', the actress has been slapped with another criminal complaint.
A Mumbai-based lawyer named Ali Kaashif Khan Deshmukh on Thursday filed a complaint against Kangana for allegedly posting a 'malicious' tweet and attacking Maharashtra government and Police in connection with the death case of actor Sushant Singh Rajput. The complaint also includes charges of sedition and promoting enmity between different communities.
Meanwhile, Kangana was quick to react to the news and wrote that she is 'waiting to be in jail soon' just like her idols. Stating that she worships people like Savarkar, Neta Bose and Rani of Jhansi, Kangana said that this makes her feel confident of her choices.
Kangana also tagged actor Aamir Khan for his perceived silence on the matter and asked the intolerance gang about how much pain they have gone through in this intolerant nation.&nbsp;
